The text includes an introduction to decision-making and operations research, four chapters consisting of indepth explanations of each technique, and instructions on the use of computer programs. PERT is used for planning and analyzing stages or activities in project development. The chapter includes step-by-step instruction in its use--with illustrated charts and examples--and an explanation of the GCPATH program for a PERT computer analysis. The third chapter centers on the use of Linear Programming, a mathematical technique designed to solve mathematically stated problems. It contains examples of the computer program LPRG and illustrates its use in several different situations. Queueing Theory, the subject of the fourth chapter, is a method for analyzing waiting line problems. Presented are the basic elements of the theory, discussion of its use, and an outline of solutions to waiting problems with the QUEUE computer program. Book Dictionary of Khotan Saka

Download or read book Dictionary of Khotan Saka written by Harold Walter Bailey and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-06-10 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Cambridge University Press published (1945-1967) in six volumes Professor Bailey's transcriptions of Saka manuscripts found in Sin Kiang and Kansu (of the ancient kingdom of Khotan). They are central to any study of Old Iranian and the Iranian dialects; and they are also important for further understanding of the religious tradition in the sacred Avesta of the Zoroastrians, and for the history of the peoples of Central Asia generally. This 1979 dictionary represents the fulfilment of a plan formed in 1934 which required first the editing and transcription of the manuscripts, and then the slow elucidation of the whole corpus of texts. It contains a linguistic analysis and translation of all the Iranian words used in the texts. It is the necessary key to the understanding of the texts, to the mastery of the language itself, and to the linking of Khotan Saka into the Indo-European linguistic tradition.

Book From the Ashes of Angels

Download or read book From the Ashes of Angels written by Andrew Collins and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2001-09-01 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides convincing evidence that angels, demons, and fallen angels were flesh-and-blood members of a giant race predating humanity, spoken of in the Bible as the Nephilim. • Indicates that the earthly paradise of Eden was a realm in the mountains of Kurdistan. • By the author of Gateway to Atlantis. Our mythology describes how beings of great beauty and intelligence, who served as messengers of gods, fell from grace through pride. These angels, also known as Watchers, are spoken of in the Bible and other religious texts as lusting after human women, who lay with them and gave birth to giant offspring called the Nephilim. These religious sources also record how these beings revealed forbidden arts and sciences to humanity--transgressions that led to their destruction in the Great Flood. Andrew Collins reveals that these angels, demons, and fallen angels were flesh-and-blood members of a race predating our own. He offers evidence that they lived in Egypt (prior to the ancient Egyptians), where they built the Sphinx and other megalithic monuments, before leaving the region for what is now eastern Turkey following the cataclysms that accompanied the last Ice Age. Here they lived in isolation before gradually establishing contact with the developing human societies of the Mesopotamian plains below. Humanity regarded these angels--described as tall, white-haired beings with viperlike faces and burning eyes--as gods and their realm the paradise wherein grew the tree of knowledge. Andrew Collins demonstrates how the legends behind the fall of the Watchers echo the faded memory of actual historical events and that the legacy they have left humanity is one we can afford to ignore only at our own peril.
