Book The Lonely Mermaid Other Fish Stories

Download or read book The Lonely Mermaid Other Fish Stories written by Laverne Johnson Baptiste and published by Go to Publish. This book was released on 2021-07-25 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LEGEND has it that the more a fish story is repeated or told time and time again, the fish tend to get bigger, and bigger, and bigger. A small child might wonder why this happens. In time, the young reader will learn that the storyteller, after the first telling of his or her story, becomes amused with his/her storytelling skill, and that the imagination can begin to "run away or run wild" with more and more interesting but untrue details. So the fish grows in size as the story grows in details and length. So get ready for the biggest fish tales ever! Reading is a journey. The stories in this book, The Lonely Mermaid, are journeys into nature, into the innocence and curiosity of childhood, into the human condition, and into the human experience. No matter how big the fish or the tales get, just enjoy the wonderful journeys while reading the stories. In the Land of Simple Living and simple pleasures, where the summers were hot and long and the winters were mild, where cotton was king and to own land was heavenly, where fish jumped high, and the living was made by farming the land; where days by the ponds, lakes, streams, and creeks were also a simple way to survive.

Book The Little Mermaid and Other Stories

Download or read book The Little Mermaid and Other Stories written by Vic Parker and published by Gareth Stevens Publishing LLLP. This book was released on 2015-07-15 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hans Christian Andersen wrote many familiar fairy tales. However, his original stories have much scarier details than the versions many readers know. In “The Little Mermaid,” the sea witch didn’t just magically take the little mermaid’s voice to prevent her from speaking—she took her tongue! It’s tidbits like this that will give readers the chills as they enter the fantasy world of "The Witch," "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp," and "How Bradamante Conquered the Wizard." Each story showcases how content and word choice can add to a story’s haunting tone, and full-color—but creepy—images and illustrations offer readers a jumping-off point to allow their imaginations to roam.

Book excerpt: Bestselling author Dan Alatorre sits down with his four year old daughter and creates a story to capture the imagination of children everywhere!A lonely young mermaid must think of a creative way to rescue stranded pirates. By helping others, she makes new friends. Written by four-year-old Davannah Alatorre, as told to her bestselling author father Dan Alatorre. Great for parents to read to preschoolers or for slightly older kids to read to their parents!Best selling author Dan Alatorre had written several comedic books about life with a baby/toddler/preschooler in the house, and he thought it would be nice to create books that he and his wife could read to their daughter, then evolve into writing books that their daughter could read to them. While working on his 8th or 9th book, Dan saw a spec cover that friend and artist Perry Elisabeth had done, and bought it immediately. "My 4 year old daughter was in the room and I knew she would like it, so I grabbed my video camera and asked her what she thought the picture looked like. She told me it looked like a mermaid who was lonely and sad because she didn't have any friends."With some prodding, my daughter came up with a whole story that I recorded and then wrote down. Like all kids her age, she makes up pretty good stories, and it occurred to me that kids her age might like to hear a story created by another kid their own age, instead of just what we adults think would be interesting for them. I thought it would be fun to write my daughter's stories down and publish them. "I knew it would be fun to have simple cartoon characters portray the characters of the story. My friend Don Castillo was happy to make them - and what a great job he did! Don's art adds so much, bringing a whole new dimension to the book! To further add to kids' enjoyment, we decided to ask them to draw along with the story if they could, so we created a Laguna Facebook Fan page where parents can go to post pictures of Laguna and her friends that their kids draw. When our daughter was younger and we read to our her, we often asked her things like "How many clouds are in that picture?" or, "How many bees are buzzing around the flower? What color are these birds? and Which animal is green? That is another way to make the book interesting on the third and fourth reading."My daughter always likes it when her books or cartoons have some black and white pictures that we can print for her to color with her crayons, so we added those to our Laguna Facebook Fan page, too. "Laguna The Lonely Mermaid" is just one of many stories my daughter has started telling me. Maybe I can catch a few more of them for you."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The stories in this Fairy Book come from all quarters of the world. For example, the adventures of 'Ball-Carrier and the Bad One' are told by Red Indian grandmothers to Red Indian children who never go to school, nor see pen and ink. 'The Bunyip' is known to even more uneducated little ones, running about with no clothes at all in the bush, in Australia. You may see photographs of these merry little black fellows before their troubles begin, in 'Northern Races of Central Australia, ' by Messrs. Spencer and Gillen. They have no lessons except in tracking and catching birds, beasts, fishes, lizards, and snakes, all of which they eat. But when they grow up to be big boys and girls, they are cruelly cut about with stone knives and frightened with sham bogies all for their good' their parents say and I think they would rather go to school, if they had their choice, and take their chance of being birched and bullied
