Book The Logistics Audit

Download or read book The Logistics Audit written by Piotr Buła and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Extraordinary technological progress, but also the experience gained from the global COVID-19 pandemic, force the future vision of the world’s economic development to assume a close coexistence and intense interaction between production (manufacturing) and logistics and supply-chain management. This perspective requires that the current functioning of organizations will have to be radically remodeled so that they can face not only market competition but also the turbulent changes (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity - VUCA) that take place in their close environment. Therefore, in the next few years, one of the most important tools for improving organizations may become industry audits, especially the logistics audit. This book explores the development, methods, and impact of logistics audits on organizations. In a holistic way, the book refers to topics such as internal audit, control, logistics system of enterprises, principles of conducting logistics audit and its problem areas (risk), logistics audit of procurement, production, warehousing, distribution, and supply chains, impact of the digital economy on organizations, and the European market for logistics audit services. Undoubtedly, the greatest asset of this book is that, in international terms, it is the first compact book devoted to the issue of logistics audit. Unique and timely, the book will be an essential resource for academics and postgraduate students of logistics, supply-chain management, and global operations in particular.

Book The use of information to manage the logistics supply chain

Download or read book The use of information to manage the logistics supply chain written by Great Britain: National Audit Office and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2011-03-31 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ministry of Defence faces considerable challenges ensuring front line personnel get the 'materiel' they need. Despite these challenges, the MoD made 130,300 deliveries to Afghanistan in 2010. Indeed, the amount of time troops wait for supplies has declined since the NAO's 2009 report on support to high intensity operations. However, the MoD is still not meeting its own performance targets. Highest priority items sent by air should arrive in theatre within five days. However, in 2010, this was achieved in only around a third of cases. Failure to deliver the right item on time is primarily due to items being unavailable for transport. This means that either the MoD is not accurately forecasting usage and repair rates; or suppliers are unable to respond to demand. Moreover, the MoD is unable to reconcile coherently the information it does possess on the location of its assets and its inventory and supply chain costs. One consequence of this lack of information is that more material than necessary is being sent by air, including many items which have predictable demand. While surface routes are not suitable for all types of equipment and can carry greater security risks, at least 90 per cent of total transport costs to Afghanistan comes from air deliveries - transferring just 10 per cent of items sent by air to Afghanistan to surface delivery routes would save an estimated £15 million per year.

Book Managing Organizational Risk Using the Supplier Audit Program

Download or read book Managing Organizational Risk Using the Supplier Audit Program written by Lance B. Coleman and published by Quality Press. This book was released on 2018-04-06 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Risk elimination. Risk management. Risk mitigation. These terms are an increasingly important part of the lexicon of executive-level management as they strive to succeed in a business environment having global competition, geographically diverse suppliers, and new technologies. In this new, globally expansive marketplace, more than 50 percent of value creation is achieved outside of an organization's walls, or, in other words, through their suppliers. This, too, is where the majority of product realization risk lies. This book defines what risk-based thinking is and how to apply it from the perspective of helping manage organizational risk through the supplier audit process. It provides a detailed and useful discussion of the practical application of risk-based supplier auditing principles. It can be a primer for those new to the profession of supplier auditing, and it also shares tips and best practices that would benefit experienced auditors as well. The first section explores supplier management, supplier auditing, and the supplier audit process. The second section discusses the skills, both traditional and nontraditional, needed to ensure a successful supplier audit. Relevant aspects of ASQs Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP) Bodies of Knowledge are discussed in detail. The author's friends and colleagues from around the globe shared their own stories in Case in Point-vignettes interspersed throughout the book, providing first-hand case studies from, among others, the medical device, logistics, automotive, and aerospace industries.

Book Trade and Transport Facilitation

Download or read book Trade and Transport Facilitation written by John Raven and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2000-01-01 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alleviating poverty through direct assistance and economic growth is an important objective of the World Bank. For this strategy to succeed, all potential impediments to the competitiveness of export industries must be tackled and reduced. Informational trade performance and efficiency are essential components of overall success. And in this new economy of instant communication, the main bottleneck is delivery, that is, transport and logistics. National frontiers impose a complex set of procedural requirements on incoming and outgoing consignments. Although the World Bank's investment in visible transport infrastructure to increase trade is significant, trade cannot advance without parallel, systematic improvement in the invisible infrastructure of border entry. The audit methodology set forth in this document offers an assessment of the difficulties, exposes most of the important customs facilitators, and assesses the skills needed for expert advice and action. This publication will be of interest to trade and transport policymakers, professional organizations, consultants, and anyone looking for answers to the transport challenges posed by the requirements of international trade.

Download or read book Trade and Transport Facilitation Assessment written by World Bank and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2010-06-24 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 'Trade and Transport Facilitation Assessment' (TTFA) is a tool for identifying inefficiencies in international supply chains that limit a country s ability to compete in international trade. The TTFA examines problems that affect not only exports competitiveness, but also the ability to import and distribute inputs to production and consumer goods. This new TTFA toolkit was developed to meet the growing demand for facilitation and logistics reforms in an environment of increasing global competition and expanded trade in intermediate goods. It reflects practical experience and the change in the nature of demand from developing countries. The TTFA focuses on simplification and harmonization of trade-related procedures and identifies the opportunities for improving logistics services, infrastructure, and the overall performance of specific supply chains. It also outlines practices to develop plans of action with proper interactions with government agencies and stakeholders.
