Book excerpt: In summary, we may declare that Lao-tzu is an authentic philosopher and he uses a clear logic to describe his principle in the Tao Te Ching. Tao philosophy deals with the nature of reality. We come to such a conclusion despite the overwhelming belief to the contrary. We no longer need to accept Tao philosophy as a mysterious philosophy. Instead, we have shown that there is a definite principle and a clear logic in the Tao Te Ching. The principle and logic can be shown with a systematic model based on the words of Lao-tzu. The results are well beyond what we could have expected when we started this project more than a decade ago. This work represents a major step in our understanding of Tao philosophy. This book shows the complete logical structure of Tao philosophy, which can serve as the ultimate base for a consistent interpretation of the Tao Te Ching. The logic of Tao philosophy is precise and can be presented analytically.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boldly said, this book will change the historical view of Tao philosophy. We have discovered a clear principle of Tao by a systematic analysis of the first Chapter of the Tao Te Ching. The logic of Tao philosophy is essentially the same as that of the Pre-Socratic philosopher Parmenides, the Indian and Buddhist philosopher. The author uses a very simple scientific methodology to show the logic of Tao philosophy. Most people may frown upon any systematic study of the Tao Te Ching. Therefore, any such attempt will have to face a formidable tradition of mysterious speculations about Tao. It will be difficult to convince anyone that there is a clear principle in Tao philosophy. Nevertheless, we shall show that it is an authentic philosophy of nature and Lao-tzu is a logical philosopher. Our conclusion is completely contrary to the prevailing view and is a significant and accidental discovery. We started this project without any anticipation of such a result. However, after a long period of analysis, it has become clear that there is a clear principle of Tao philosophy, with a clear logical structure. We shall carefully provide convincing evidence for the reader.

Book excerpt: This translation is based on the core principle of Tao philosophy. In the Introduction, we discuss the core principle based on the Tao Te Ching. In the translation, we show that the words of Lao-tzu are self-consistent and his words follow a definite logic. We can now interpret his words without much need for speculation. Lao-tzu provides a logical way to show the relationship between appearances and reality. We can see how his words point to the true reality of Tao, and eliminate the self-contradiction in the Tao Te Ching. The logic of Tao philosophy is consistently reflected in this translation of the Tao Te Ching. We also show Tao philosophy as a general philosophy, similar to the Western and Buddhist philosophies.

We shall use many ancient philosophy as illustrations to show their commonalities with systems thinking.

Book The Hidden Mysteries of Tao Philosophy

Download or read book The Hidden Mysteries of Tao Philosophy written by Wayne L. Wang Ph D and published by . This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We hope to use graphic novel to introduce this logic system in a more casual way. This is a new way to think. A new paradigm. We have to change our habitual dualistic way of thinking. What we need to adjust is to avoid thinking in terms of objects and think in terms of complementarity of the objects. So we can construct the reality of the actuality in our mind. Such comprehension of the logic of Tao philosophy will require a major paradigm shift. We have used a detailed logic model to help us adjust our thinking habit, to overcome this formidable task. It will require a significant paradigm shift. The old paradigm will break down gradually while the new paradigm is established. However, the old paradigm has very deep root and it will take persistence to bring about a change in our paradigm. This graphic novel is also a way to help.

"To me," Writes Smullyan, "Taoism means a state of inner serenity combined with an intense aesthetic awareness. Neither alone is adequate; a purely passive serenity is kind of dull, and an anxiety-ridden awareness is not very appealing." This is more than a book on Chinese philosophy. It is a series of ideas inspired by Taoism that treats a wide variety of subjects about life in general. Smullyan sees the Taoist as "one who is not so much in search of something he hasn't, but who is enjoying what he has." Readers will be charmed and inspired by this witty, sophisticated, yet deeply religious author, whether he is discussing gardening, dogs, the art of napping, or computers who dream that they're human.
