Book The Little Corona King

Download or read book The Little Corona King written by Ellie Jackson and published by Under Pressure Media Limited. This book was released on 2020-03-03 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ebook explaining the coronavirus to primary and preschool children in a gentle and positive way with a happy ending and extra resources. Written by a teacher and mother of four, this book will put the coronavirus into context for young children. The Little Corona King is a children's book aimed at primary and preschool children to help explain to them about the coronavirus in a gentle and positive way. The book is written by Number 1 bestselling children's author Ellie Jackson, author of the true Wild Tribe Heroes series of books about ocean plastic, palm oil and climate change. Her books are highly acclaimed and have reached over a million children so far and Ellie is used to writing about real global issues without overwhelming or scaring children. Ellie is a mother of four young children under 10 and has a background as a teacher both of which have given her experience in pitching her books at the right level so as to promote discussion, engage and inspire children to get involved in helping make a difference. The Little Corona King was born out of a growing global concern for the impact of the coronavirus on all of us as well as understanding that parents and teachers need to explain new ideas to their children in a positive way about how to tackle the virus. Writing and illustrating the book has taken place over the course of 4 days and is the first children's book in the world that is discussing the coronavirus. It includes relevant, up to date information taken from reliable government websites such as the NHS and the story can be amended as more developments occur. This book is not a scaremongering tactic nor is it wanting people to panic. It is a tool for parents to use to engage their children with simple health practices such as hand washing, changing routines or habits, reasons why things are different, helping them adjust to school closures or self-isolation if needed etc although some of these are left deliberately vague so as to encourage normality as much as possible.

Book excerpt: In normal times, it is difficult enough to address children to explain the nature of a phenomenon. So what about in difficult times? Children are smart and capable of understanding, but we have to make sure that the approach is a happy one. So how do we approach the subject of the Covid-19 pandemic with children? How do we talk to them without further dramatizing things, because the damage has been done somewhere? Indeed, the coronavirus has been over-publicized and it is difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. Too much information, not only contradictory, but alarming and defeatist, was circulating, taking hostage both adults and children. Yes, children also have the right to information. However, this information must be reliable, clear, understandable, and free of rumors and misinformation. The Covid-19 pandemic is a thorny, burning, dramatic, worrying and distressing subject at the same time. Can we avoid it? No, on the contrary, we must approach it with tact, sensitivity and responsibility. I have taken the actions and information of the World Health Organization (WHO) as a starting point for writing this series, which is both essential and difficult. Taking on such a challenge is not easy, as it requires psychology and pedagogy to claim this kind of writing. Being a writer with a beautiful pen is not enough when it comes to this kind of literature. This perilous exercise has a price: an investment in effort and time. Nevertheless, it paid off: The Little Corona was born! I feel completely satisfied and hope that the children and their parents will be too. The Little Corona is a series that tells the story of the pandemic in a certain chronology. In fact, it is an answer to the questions of children and the questions of parents. To educate and to please, to explain and to satisfy, to tell and to please, these are the goals set by The Little Corona in all modesty. Educational, it popularizes information to make it accessible in simple, useful and true French. Even the grammar has its own little lot where the concordance of tenses goes crescendo from number to number. The compound tenses have adopted the right attitude of going step by step without ever rushing while using real data. And to finish this panoply, English and Spanish were added to accustom and encourage children to foreign words. The Little Corona and El Pequeño Corona are the new friends of the French Little Corona, the oldest of the series. The Little Corona has focused on the family in general and the role of parents in society, emphasizing work and solidarity within the community. Grandparents, parents, neighbors, friends and other citizens are used to explain the benefits of intra-family and inter-community relationships. The relationships between nations and countries are also addressed, but without going into too much detail. This parsimony is just to explain the other face of the pandemic. Besides, I tried to relativize this coronavirus which is scaring the whole world according to some media. Yes, it is a disease that makes people talk, but that does not make as much damage as other plagues and diseases like war, famine, road accidents and seasonal flu. Indeed, the coronavirus is contagious. Invisible to the naked eye like other known viruses, it makes the whole world tremble. Nevertheless, it is not the end of the world and the Earth continues to turn by distilling us life with its eternal beauty. It's just a disease that we can protect ourselves from and that we can also catch and especially escape. This series, intended for children as well as their parents, must help them to go through this particular ordeal or any other similar one by playing down the situation. I start from the principle that children are intelligent beings who can have a great imagination while reading.

After having erased every empire and raided every realm, Normous is enraged to learn that the King of Little Things still rules over his tiny kingdom. He sends his army to defeat this upstart, but he finds he cannot outfight or outwit a king who holds sway over the small things of the world. After all, it is the small things that keep the big things going. Bil Lepp's imaginative tale of the beauty and importance of all things small is perfectly paired with illustrator David T. Wenzel's bright watercolor paintings.

Book excerpt: Cruel. Heartless. Quarantined. The ruthless boys of Everlake Prep never saw lockdown coming. But the virus isn't their number one enemy.I am. And as if being confined to a boarding school for the elite wasn't bad enough, now I'm stuck in isolation with the boys who hate me most too. Saint, Kyan and Blake. The Night Keepers. Or so they call themselves. They've embodied the Native American legend which lives in this valley, taking on the role of the monsters who lurk in the forest. And though they act like beasts, they may also be the most tempting creatures I've ever seen. With the virus escalating and my dad's name splashed through the news, my entire world is falling apart. What he did has cast a dark shadow over me. And the Night Keepers want to make me pay for his crimes. Then things went from bad to worse when I touched the sacred rock. A rock which supposedly holds a curse to bind me as the Night Keepers' slave. And as crazy as it sounds, I decided to play along. Because there are things about me they don't know. Things my dad has hidden from me for years. All I can be sure of is that I have to find a way to escape this school. But until then, those savage boys are making my life a living hell. As the virus sweeps through the country and the world twists into something ugly and unknown, the kings of this school become true monarchs. Even the teachers bow to them now. And I'm kinda glad about that 'stay six feet away from one another' rule, because without it, I know they'd rip me apart. At least there's a silver lining. I'm cosying up to Coach Monroe. My hot as hell, brooding P.E. teacher who has a vendetta of his own against the Night Keepers. And with his help, I may succeed at doing more than escaping the clutches of these heartless fiends. I might even destroy them along the way. My father taught me how to be strong. How to prepare for the end of the world. So this isn't going to be the end of my world, mark my words. But if I'm able to use my mind and body to bring these assholes to their knees, it might just be the end of theirs. This is a high school bully romance series where the main character will end up with more than one love interest. It may have triggers for some as it has off the charts angst, dark love-hate themes, scenes of intense bullying and some violence (not aimed towards the main character) and is not for the faint of heart. Prepare to enrol at Everlake Prep. Bring your hand sanitiser, face masks and toilet paper to barter with, but don't expect to hold onto them for long. Because it's time to go into quarantine with the Night Keepers. And everything you own now belongs to them.
