Download or read book Theoretical Distribution of Load Over a Swept back Wing written by Doris Cohen and published by . This book was released on 1942 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The load over an elliptical wing with 30 degrees sweepback has been calculated by a method, based on vortex theory, which takes account of the chordwise distribution of lifting area. The theory indicates a 14-percent loss in total lift due to the introduction of sweepback, with the greatest loss taking place at the center of the span. An increase in concentration of load at the tips is also indicated. The results are compared with the results previously obtained by somewhat simpler calculations based on the assumption of a single lifting vortex.
Download or read book The Spanwise Distribution of Lift for Minimum Induced Drag of Wings Having a Given Lift and a Given Bending Moment written by Robert T. Jones and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of the minimum induced drag of wings having a given lift and a given span is extended to include cases in which the bending moment to be supported by the wing is also given. Expressions for the spanwise load distribution and the minimum drag in terms of the lateral position of the load centroid are given. The results show a 15-percent reduction of the induced drag with a 15-percent increase in span over that for an elliptic loading having the same total lift and bending moment.

Download or read book Wind tunnel Lift Interference on Sweptback Wings in Rectangular Test Sections with Slotted Side Walls written by Ray H. Wright and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theory is presented for the boundary-induced upwash interference on a sweptback wing mounted in a rectangular wind-tunnel test section with closed top and bottom walls and slotted side walls. The interference factor can be computed at any point in the test section. In an example, the interference with slotted side walls is compared with that with slotted top and bottom walls.

The focus is on the central theme of societies overall aircraft requirements to specific material requirements and highlights the most important advantages and challenges of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) compared to conventional materials. As it is fundamental to decide on the right material at the right place early on the main activities and milestones of the development and certification process and the systematic of defining clear requirements are discussed. The process of material qualification - verifying material requirements is explained in detail. All state-of-the-art composite manufacturing technologies are described, including changes and complemented by examples, and their improvement potential for future applications is discussed. Tangible case studies of high lift and wing structures emphasize the specific advantages and challenges of composite technology. Finally, latest R&D results are discussed, providing possible future solutions for key challenges such as low cost high performance materials, electrical function integration and morphing structures.
Download or read book Wind tunnel Lift Interference on Sweptback Wings in Rectangular Test Sections with Slotted Top and Bottom Walls written by Ray H. Wright and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theory is presented for the boundary-induced up-wash interference on a sweptback lifting wing mounted at the center of a rectangular wind-tunnel test section with slotted top and bottom walls and closed side walls. A sample calculation for a wing spanning 0.7 of the width of a square tunnel shows the span-wise variation in the interference characteristic of this type of test section. For this example, the wing sweep did not have a large effect on the interference.
Download or read book General Aviation Aircraft Design written by Snorri Gudmundsson and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 1058 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Find the right answer the first time with this useful handbook of preliminary aircraft design. Written by an engineer with close to 20 years of design experience, General Aviation Aircraft Design: Applied Methods and Procedures provides the practicing engineer with a versatile handbook that serves as the first source for finding answers to realistic aircraft design questions. The book is structured in an "equation/derivation/solved example" format for easy access to content. Book excerpt: This book contains accepted papers presented at SOCO 2020 conference held in the beautiful and historic city of Burgos (Spain), in September 2020. Soft computing represents a collection or set of computational techniques in machine learning, computer science and some engineering disciplines, which investigate, simulate, and analyze very complex issues and phenomena. After a through peer-review process, the SOCO 2020 International Program Committee selected 83 papers which are published in these conference proceedings and represents an acceptance rate of 35%. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the SOCO 2020 edition was blended, combining on-site and on-line participation. In this relevant edition a special emphasis was put on the organization of special sessions. Eleven special session were organized related to relevant topics such as: Soft Computing Applications in Precision Agriculture, Manufacturing and Management Systems, Management of Industrial and Environmental Enterprises, Logistics and Transportation Systems, Robotics and Autonomous Vehicles, Computer Vision, Laser-Based Sensing and Measurement and other topics such as Forecasting Industrial Time Series, IoT, Big Data and Cyber Physical Systems, Non-linear Dynamical Systems and Fluid Dynamics, Modeling and Control systems The selection of papers was extremely rigorous in order to maintain the high quality of SOCO conference editions and we would like to thank the members of the Program Committees for their hard work in the reviewing process. This is a crucial process to the creation of a high standard conference and the SOCO conference would not exist without their help.
