Download or read book The Questioner s Prayer written by Bishop Robert J. Baker and published by Our Sunday Visitor. This book was released on 2007-04-04 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Why Me, God? Why Now?" Some of the most sincere prayers we can address to God are, "Why, God?," "When, God?," or "How, God?" Facing our ignorance and lack of understanding is the basis of any ongoing prayer dialogue with God. Consider what happens when we're facing a life crisis -- death, illness, or loss -- and the only kind of prayer we're capable of is a string of questions flung to heaven. But we can also feel free to ask questions of God in everyday prayer as we look to him for motivation, inspiration, and understanding. An experienced pastor currently serving as Bishop of Charleston, South Carolina, Bishop Robert J. Baker says a question put to God can be a real sign of faith and trust, especially when we bring those questions to prayer. This unique aid to prayer and meditation will guide you to the core of your relationship with God and your understanding of his plan for you.

Book excerpt: Many people live as if life were just a series of disconnected events, containing no real meaning and offering no real fulfillment. But you can find satisfaction in life -- if you're willing to change your perspective and take action. That's what this book is designed to help you do! In these pages, you'll learn to live a deeper, richer, more rewarding life. Not a life of random events, occurring to seemingly- disconnected people, but a life in which you are deeply important and involved. A life that will give you joy, meaning and purpose -- every moment of every day. The LifeWork Principle is an action-oriented approach, not another "pie-in-the-sky" theory. Somehow you know instinctively that there's more to life than just your physical existence. But how do you discover it? How can you fill that gnawing emptiness inside? How can you move from listlessness and confusion to joy and satisfaction? This book will point you in the right direction. The LifeWork Principle will help you develop a new perspective on life, and show you how to live each week, each day - each hour! - to its fullest. You'll start to see your life as a unique and unrepeatable role created just for you. And you'll begin to experience true joy, real fulfillment and deep satisfaction like you never thought was possible.

He has helped initiate and conduct research at NASA/Goddard Institute and Columbia University on the potential impacts of climate change on regional and global food production.Dr Hillel's life-long goal is to enhance the application of science toward the efficient and environmentally sound development of human, biotic, land, and water resources. Book Life s Work

Download or read book Life s Work written by David Milch and published by Random House. This book was released on 2022-09-13 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The creator of Deadwood and NYPD Blue reflects on his tumultuous life, driven by a nearly insatiable creative energy and a matching penchant for self-destruction. Life’s Work is a profound memoir from a brilliant mind taking stock as Alzheimer’s loosens his hold on his own past. “This is David Milch’s farewell, and it will rock you.”—Susan Orlean, author of The Orchid Thief “I’m on a boat sailing to some island where I don’t know anybody. A boat someone is operating and we aren’t in touch.” So begins David Milch’s urgent accounting of his increasingly strange present and often painful past. From the start, Milch’s life seems destined to echo that of his father, a successful if drug-addicted surgeon. Almost every achievement is accompanied by an act of self-immolation, but the deepest sadnesses also contain moments of grace. Betting on racehorses and stealing booze at eight years old, mentored by Robert Penn Warren and excoriated by Richard Yates at twenty-one, Milch never did anything by half. He got into Yale Law School only to be expelled for shooting out streetlights with a shotgun. He paused his studies at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop to manufacture acid in Cuernavaca. He created and wrote some of the most lauded television series of all time, made a family, and pursued sobriety, then lost his fortune betting horses just as his father had taught him. Like Milch’s best screenwriting, Life’s Work explores how chance encounters, self-deception, and luck shape the people we become, and wrestles with what it means to have felt and caused pain, even and especially with those we love, and how you keep living. It is both a master class on Milch’s unique creative process, and a distinctive, revelatory memoir from one of the great American writers, in what may be his final dispatch to us all.
