Book More Tales for the Masses

Download or read book More Tales for the Masses written by Timothy E. Healy and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The word "homily" comes from the Greek word meaning conversation. The stories in More Tales For The Masses: Stories Connecting Scripture To Everyday Life largely contain dialogue - realistic conversations between family members, co-workers and neighbors of all ages. Here is a new collection of previously unpublished stories that connect Scripture to contemporary, everyday life. Tim writes for the parishioner who's wondering "Why should I listen to you?" by imparting stories to which the parishioner can easily relate. Someone may ask you, "Who told you about me, anyway?" after hearing a homily or sermon with one of these stories in it. In this way, the Scripture message can be seen as relevant to all generations. In this book, author Tim Healy provides homilists and educators material they can use for their own reflection, to help people connect Scripture with what goes on in normal life, and to get people excited about worship because its relevance has been made transparent"--

Book excerpt: Henry is just old enough to begin to learn about love and truth, trust and sharing. That's why Dad has decided to take Henry on an adventure, something Dad does when Henry needs to see something for himself. It's time for Henry to go with Dad to the Forest of Inside-Out. The Forest of Inside-Out is a very special place, where even the animals can talk (it's how they get what's inside them out). In the Forest of Inside-Out you can only tell the truth, and you have to see and deal with things, for yourself, exactly as they are. Henry gets to find out what's inside Henry and those who love him, and how that makes him feel. As the adventure unfolds, Henry learns the value of listening to his Dad's voice, even if he can't see him. Dad tells Henry about Helpers, too. Of course, allowing himself to be helped and becoming a helper is a decision Henry will have to make for himself as the adventure of his life continues.... Tim Healy, lives in a small town in northeastern Connecticut, USA, not far from the Forest of Inside-Out, with his lovely wife Chris. Their grandson Henry is the loving focus of this book and all those to follow.

Book The Life of Sir Denis Henry

Download or read book The Life of Sir Denis Henry written by A. D. McDonnell and published by Ulster Historical Foundation. This book was released on 2000 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Denis Stanislaus Henry occupies a unique place in the political and legal history of Northern Ireland politics. As a catholic, Henry supported the Union from the time of Gladstone's first Home Rule Bill of 1886, and after joining the Ulster Unionist Council upon its formation in 1905, unsuccessfully contested the North Tyrone constituency in 1906 and 1907, losing by the narrow margins of 9 and 7 votes respectively. Henry set aside these setbacks in politics and continued with his legal career which saw him emerge as one of the outstanding lawyers of the Irish Bar, practising in the Four Courts in Dublin, and becoming 'Father of the old North-West Circuit'. Henry eventually entered Westminster after winning his native South Derry seat in May 1916, in what was the first electoral contest in Ireland following the outbreak of the Easter Rising. The Occasion was the first time in which a Catholic represented a Unionist constituency in Ulster, and Henry's retention of South Derry in the post-war general election of 1918 marked the last. After a brief period as Solicitor-General for Ireland in 1918, Henry was appointed Attorney-General in 1919, and as the leading Irish Law officer was at the forefront in Parliament in defending and explaining Government policy during the Anglo-Irish War of 1919-1921. Henry became the first Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland in 1921, and spent the final four years of his life leading a new Judiciary during one of the most turbulent periods in the province's history.
