Book The Ministry Vol 09 No 09

Download or read book The Ministry Vol 09 No 09 written by Various Authors and published by Living Stream Ministry. This book was released on 2005-10-01 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This issue of The Ministry includes the first nine messages given during the 2004 spring term of the Full-time Training in Anaheim, California. The general subject of this series of messages is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. What is typified by the experiences of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is realized in the New Testament, especially in Galatians 3--6. Abraham's experiences represent the experiences of God the Father (3:8, 29), Isaac's experiences represent the experiences of the Son (4:28), and Jacob's experiences represent the work of the Spirit in discipline and transformation (cf. 5:16; 6:8; 5:22-23). The experiences of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob culminated in God's people, Israel. God's goal always was and still is to have a corporate people to express and represent Him on the earth. The existence of such a people--Israel in the Old Testament and the Israel of God in the New Testament--depends upon certain kinds of spiritual experiences had by all the people of God. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are the foundation of the nation of Israel. Their experiences were not merely for themselves. Their experiences were to gain a corporate people, all of whom know God and experience Him as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Last of all, we include a report concerning the 2005 Chinese-speaking perfecting conference in New Jersey.

Book The Tent and the Altar

Download or read book The Tent and the Altar written by John Cumming and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Tent and the Altar: Or Sketches From Patriarchial Life In a former volume, not unacceptable to the Christian public, I have unfolded Christianity before the Flood. In the present I have endeavored to set forth the same glorious faith developed under the shining tents, and irradiating the holy altars, which the world's grey fathers raised in the desert. It is very pleasant to go backward to those days of patriarchal life, and watch the phases of nature - the influences of grace - and the ever enveloping providential presence of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The patriarchs lived in the dawn of the Christian dispensation, and in the youthful days of the human race. Each tent was a little world revolving round its own fireside. Each patriarch was a prince ruling over few but faithful subjects. All of them were among the first experiments of grace in a fallen world, the first proofs of its transforming and elevating influences. Book Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist

Download or read book Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist written by Brant Pitre and published by Image. This book was released on 2011-02-15 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A revelatory exploration of the Jewish roots of the Last Supper that seeks to understand exactly what happened at Jesus’ final Passover. “Clear, profound and practical—you do not want to miss this book.”—Dr. Scott Hahn, author of The Lamb’s Supper and The Fourth Cup Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist shines fresh light on the Last Supper by looking at it through Jewish eyes. Using his in-depth knowledge of the Bible and ancient Judaism, Dr. Brant Pitre answers questions such as: What was the Passover like at the time of Jesus? What were the Jewish hopes for the Messiah? What was Jesus’ purpose in instituting the Eucharist during the feast of Passover? And, most important of all, what did Jesus mean when he said, “This is my body… This is my blood”? To answer these questions, Pitre explores ancient Jewish beliefs about the Passover of the Messiah, the miraculous Manna from heaven, and the mysterious Bread of the Presence. As he shows, these three keys—the Passover, the Manna, and the Bread of the Presence—have the power to unlock the original meaning of the Eucharistic words of Jesus. Along the way, Pitre also explains how Jesus united the Last Supper to his death on Good Friday and his Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Inspiring and informative, Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist is a groundbreaking work that is sure to illuminate one of the greatest mysteries of the Christian faith: the mystery of Jesus’ presence in “the breaking of the bread.”
