I have maintained reasonably good health and now, at the age of 111 years and 124 days, I am the oldest person in Australia, the oldest man to have ever lived in Australia, and number seven in the list of the world's oldest living men. I hope what I have written will give the reader some indication of what my life was like on the land. I was determined to succeed in the industry of my choice and I think I can claim a great measure of success, and always doing what I enjoyed doing in the process.

During my lifespan, the Australian population has increased from just over 4 million in 1910 to over 25 million today in 2021. I have had my cattle herds decimated with the diseases brucellosis, tuberculosis, plural pneumonia, tick fever and the great eradication program that would eradicate those for diseases from Australia. I have also seen numerous very low prices for my produce. Through all these vicissitudes, I have prospered - why? Well, whether the weather was wet, or whether the weather was dry, I have weathered the weather, whatever the weather, whether it was wet or dry.
