Download or read book Lez Talk written by S. Andrea Allen and published by . This book was released on 2016-03-01 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A necessary and relevant addition to the Black LGBTQ literary canon, which oftentimes overlooks Black lesbian writing, Lez Talk is a collection of short stories that embraces the fullness of Black lesbian experiences. The contributors operate under the assumption that "lesbian" is not a dirty word, and have written stories that amplify the diversity of Black lesbian lives. At once provocative, emotional, adventurous, and celebratory, Lez Talk crosses a range of fictional genres, including romance, speculative, and humor. The writers explore new subjects and aspects of their experiences, and affirm their gifts as writers and lesbian women. Beginning with Sheree L. Greer's "I Can't Turn it Off," a short, powerful tale imbued with socio-political undercurrents, the collection also includes work from Claudia Moss, LaToya Hankins, Lauren Cherelle, K.A. Smith, S. Andrea Allen, Faith Mosley, and Eternity Philops.

The violet-tinted hue of dawn filtered into the cozy niche. Annika's hands slid into Charlee's coppery curls and drew her lips close. For a long moment they hovered there as their gazes danced together. Then Annika pressed her mouth softly against Charlee's, drinking in its sweetness, slowly at first, then more urgently. Annika supported her as they slowly slid to their knees, their lips never parting. They knelt there in the sand, hands hungrily exploring each other's body. Charlee tentatively ran both hands along Annika's spine, thrilling in the feel of the tremble she created with her touch. Hungrily Annika pulled down the zipper of Charlee's jacket, surprised to find the other woman wore nothing underneath it. Sucking in a deep breath, she let her eyes drink in the sight of Charlee's bare melon-sized breasts. Soon Annika was using both hands to worship Charlee's breasts, lifting and molding the big boobs, pressing them together. Charlee threw her head back arching her spine as Annika replaced one of her hands with her lips and... WARNING - These stories have hot and steamy content and is not suitable for all ages. 18+

Download or read book Lesbian Pulp Fiction written by Katherine V. Forrest and published by HarperCollins Australia. This book was released on 2014-08-01 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the darkness, you can see figures gathered in twos and threes – the glowing tip of a cigarette, a close-manicured hand draped over a shoulder, heads turning to study the new arrival. Someone moves toward you, snapping a lighter open. Step into the twilight world of lesbian pulps. In 1950, Fawcett founded their Gold Medal imprint, inaugurating the reign of lesbian pulp fiction. These were the books that small-town lesbians and prurient men bought by the millions – cheap, easy to find in drugstores, and immediately recognizable by their lurid covers: often a hard-looking brunette standing over a scantily-clad blonde or a man gazing in tormented lust at a lovely, unobtainable lesbian. For women leading straight lives, here was their confirmation that they were not alone and that darkly glamorous, “gay” places like Greenwich Village existed. In the over-heated prose typical of the genre, these books document the emergence of a lesbian subculture in postwar America. Some – especially those written by lesbians – offered sympathetic and realistic depictions of “life in the shadows,” while others (no less fun to read now) were smutty, sensational tales of innocent girls led astray. Grande dame of lesbian literature Katherine V. Forrest presents a rich survey of the best of the pulps, including work by Ann Bannon, Vin Packer, Marion Zimmer Bradley (writing as Miriam Gardner), Brigid Brophy, and many others. Contains: Tereska Torres: Women's Barracks Vin Packer: Spring Fire Anne Herbert: Summer Camp Sloane Britain: These Curious Pleasures Joan Ellis: The Third Street Randy Salem: Chris Artemis Smith: The Third ex Valerie Taylor: The Girls in 3-B Valerie Taylor: Return to Lesbos Miriam Gardner: The Strange Women Dorcas Knight: The Flesh Is Willing Kay Martin: The Whispered Sex Fay Adams: Appointment in Paris Brigid Brophy: The ing of a Rainy Country March Hastings: Three Women Shirley Verel: The Dark Side of Venus Della Martin: Twilight Girl Paula Christian: Edge of Twilight Paula Christian: Another Kind of Love Ann Bannon: Beebo Brinker

Download or read book Not Alone written by Jason Mayernick and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2023-12-15 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 1970 and 1985, lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) educators publicly left their classroom closets, formed communities, and began advocating for a place of openness and safety for LGB people in America's schools. They fought for protection and representation in the National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers, as well as building community and advocacy in major gay and lesbian teacher organizations in New York, Los Angeles, and Northern California. In so doing, LGB teachers went from being a profoundly demonized and silenced population that suffered as symbolically emblematic of the harmful “bad teacher” to being an organized community of professionals deserving of rights, capable of speaking for themselves, and often able to reframe themselves as “good teachers.” This prescient book shows how LGB teachers and their allies broadened the boundaries of professionalism, negotiated for employment protection, and fought against political opponents who wanted them pushed out of America's schools altogether.
