Determined to find answers, Alyssa makes a hasty decision to stop by her parents residence before vacationing with friends resulting in her fleeing to Rockdale Valley. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People of Earth, It is a new age for all humanity. It is an age of order and faith. As with the death of the Phoenix, the Vazakanian Empire has fallen, and from the ashes that remained, there has risen a power like none the galaxy has ever seen. The Vazonian Empire grows with each passing moment: like a great tide from the depths of the sea, the power of Queen Jonarka cannot be halted, as she offers a path to eternity in the one true way of your all-knowing creator and master of salvation, Xiaf. The Interstellar Union will not protect Earth. The Interstellar Union is a weak and inferior grouping of star systems that cower in the presence of the great Vazonian fleet. People of Earth, are you not so different from us yourselves? We offer you a way of life founded upon the very principles you call your own: the will of the free market is unquestioned, faith is the path to salvation, government is inherently evil and, thus, we are governed by a body much like one of the great corporations you trust with your lives. Submit to the Queen, and you shall become eternal.

Book The Legend of St Brendan

Download or read book The Legend of St Brendan written by Jude S. Mackley and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2008 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Legend of St Brendan" is a study of two accounts of a voyage undertaken by Brendan, a sixth-century Irish saint. The immense popularity of the Latin version encouraged many vernacular translations, including a twelfth-century Anglo-Norman reworking of the narrative which excises much of the devotional material seen in the ninth-century "Navigatio Sancti Brendani abbatis" and changes the emphasis, leaving a recognisably secular narrative. The vernacular version focuses on marvellous imagery and the trials and tribulations of a long sea-voyage. Together the two versions demonstrate a movement away from hagiography towards adventure. Studies of the two versions rarely discuss the elements of the fantastic. Following a summary of authorship, audiences and sources, this comparative study adopts a structural approach to the two versions of the Brendan narrative. It considers what the fantastic imagery achieves and addresses issues raised with respect to theological parallels.

To feed her children, in an act of desperation and desire, she gives dearly to a suitor for ten pounds of jerky. Evicted from Atlanta, Anne returns to the plantation. There, she encounters Major Ruse Blackburn and his skinning knife-a man with a grudge to settle and a proclivity for cutting pretty flesh.
