Download or read book A Student s Guide to Law School written by Andrew B. Ayers and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Law school can be a joyous, soul-transforming challenge that leads to a rewarding career. It can also be an exhausting, self-limiting trap. It all depends on making smart decisions. When every advantage counts, A Student’s Guide to Law School is like having a personal mentor available at every turn. As a recent graduate and an appellate lawyer, Andrew Ayers knows how high the stakes are—he’s been there, and not only did he survive the experience, he graduated first in his class. In A Student’s Guide to Law School he shares invaluable insight on what it takes to make a successful law school journey. Originating in notes Ayers jotted down while commuting to his first clerkship with then-Judge Sonia Sotomayor, and refined throughout his first years as a lawyer, A Student’s Guide to Law School offers a unique balance of insider’s knowledge and professional advice. Organized in four parts, the first part looks at tests and grades, explaining what’s expected and exploring the seven choices students must make on exam day. The second part discusses the skills needed to be a successful law student, giving the reader easy-to-use tools to analyze legal materials and construct clear arguments. The third part contains advice on how to use studying, class work, and note-taking to find your best path. Finally, Ayers closes with a look beyond the classroom, showing students how the choices they make in law school will affect their career—and even determine the kind of lawyer they become. The first law school guide written by a recent top-ranked graduate, A Student’s Guide to Law School is relentlessly practical and thoroughly relevant to the law school experience of today’s students. With the tools and advice Ayers shares here, students can make the most of their investment in law school, and turn their valuable learning experiences into a meaningful career.

Download or read book Law Students Review and Quiz Book in the Form of Questions Which Supply Concrete Statements of Facts and of Answers Which Set Forth the Legal Principles Involved Includes All Important Subjects Conforms to the Practice of the Most Competent Boards Of written by Russell Whitman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 663 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Law Students Review and Quiz Book, in the Form of Questions Which Supply, Concrete Statements of Facts and of Answers Which Set Forth, the Legal Principles Involved Includes All Important Subjects, Conforms to the Practice of the Most Competent, Boards Of Ability correctly to apply legal principles to facts is what makes a lawyer. The aim of this book is to make lawyers; not merely to help candidates in preparing for the bar examination. Accordingly by applying important principles and doctrines of law to stated facts, it aims to give the student a taste of what he may look for upon entering the practice of the law. Within the limits of fifteen hundred questions and answers it is of course impracticable to present more than the barest outline of the law. An inspection of the work as a whole, however, should demonstrate that when the student has come to feel at home with the questions and answers, and with the principles involved, he should, upon being confronted by client or by bar examiner with facts involving the same principles, be better able to discern and state the legal principles which control. If he will not content himself with covering up the answer with a piece of blotting paper, and with seeing if on reading the question he can remember the answer; but on the contrary will rather let the question sink in, and reason out his own answer, correcting the result, if correction be needed, by the answer in the book, he will get the full benefit of my efforts and of his own. The writer has examined several thousands of applicants for the bar; and as a result, these pages betoken the earnest hope that candidates may be induced and helped to depend less on memory, and more on the power of analysis and reasoning. To spend time (and money) learning by rote scores of detached definitions, maxims, rules and precepts, but to omit to apply them again and again, is to invite failure. The best and fairest law examinations search a students power of discerning, of reasoning, of applying what he has learned, rather than his memory. Book Problem Questions for Law Students

Download or read book Problem Questions for Law Students written by Geraint Brown and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-09-27 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Law students rarely have experience answering problem questions before university, and lecturers concentrate on teaching content rather than the exam skills needed. This book bridges the gap on how to transpose knowledge and research into structured and coherent answers to problem questions while earning a law degree. Aimed at undergraduates, international students, and foundation and SQE candidates, the book gives a step-by-step study guide on how to navigate what a problem question is asking you to do. It deconstructs the process using examples from a range of different fields of law, providing essential guidance from research and critical thinking to style and tone. Including a range of examples to test yourself against, this is an indispensable resource for any law student who wants to tackle problem questions with confidence.
