Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Law of Commercial Exchanges In properly acknowledging the services ren dered by others in the preparation of this volume, the writer finds one of his greatest difficulties. While the plan of the work from its inception and the actual writing thereof have devolved entirely upon the writer, yet, in consequence of his exact ing professional duties, a large part of the read ing of the proof, the verification of citations of cases and preparation of the index has fallen upon those who now are or have been associated with him in his office. In all cases, this arduous labor has been cheerfully and efficiently performed. Among those whom he wishes especially to thank are his young professional friends, John H. Large and Stephen Love. The latter was particularly helpful in his suggestions during the preliminary stages in the planning of the book and in prepar ing the index. Two other gentlemen, while in no direct way concerned in the preparation of the book, have yet rendered invaluable assistance. One is Mr. John C. F. Merrill, an honored ex-president and now Secretary of the Chicago Board of Trade. As an indefatigable and uncompromising champion of the Exchanges through many years, he is known to all. But, as one who has been permitted forviii preface. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Business Competition and the Law: Everyday Trade Conditions Affected By, the Anti-Trust Laws This book deals wholly with practical questions. Professionally I have often threshed them out, in court with judges and against opposing counsel, in conferences with United States Attorneys and with the Federal Trade Commission, and in consultations with bewildered business men of various stations and degrees. No one realizes better than I what far-reaching consequences to economics, to sociology, to ethics, and to government these questions are bound to have. But this is not the book, nor have I now the leisure, to explore into these theoretical fields. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Latin American Commercial Law Classic Reprint

This book was released on 2017-11-29 with total page 1002 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Latin-American Commercial Law My purpose, however, is also to satisfy a practical need of lawyers and business men. Of all branches of private law throughout the world, the law of trade and commerce is perhaps more nearly uniform in its provisions than any other. And yet, to the lawyer trained in the system of the common law, the commercial law in the civil law countries presents difficulties and peculiarities, partly by reason of its character as a distinct branch of private law, and partly by reason of its civil law origin and influence. This need of the lawyer, and the practical need of the business man for a descriptive and interpretative work I have sought to meet. A glossary of Spanish legal terms has been added. Book Commercial Law Classic Reprint

Download or read book Commercial Law Classic Reprint written by D. Curtis Gano and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-16 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Commercial Law The author of this work has aimed to select from the exten sive field of the law those fundamental principles, a knowledge of which the business man will most frequently find of value to him, and which the teacher of Commercial Law will regard most useful to his classes. It is not the purpose of this volume to make lawyers of its readers, but to teach them to discern the ways that lead from litigation, and to enable them to conduct their business dealings with an intelligent idea of their legal rights and limitations. Technical terms have been avoided as far as possible, and when it has been thought advisable to use them they have been fully defined either in the text or in the glossary. The latter contains a most complete list of the legal terms ordinarily em ployed, with concise yet sufficient definition. The subjects discussed have been arranged in the order in which it is deemed advisable for the teacher to present them. It is believed that all of the subjects with which the business man should become familiar have been included in the present volume, and are explained with sufficient detail to give the reader a correct knowledge of the law concerning them. In many instances different conclusions that have been arrived at by the courts in the several states have been pointed out in detail, that the student may understand the conflicts in the laws of the different jurisdictions. Book A Treatise on the Construction Or Interpretation of Commercial and Trade Contracts Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Treatise on the Construction Or Interpretation of Commercial and Trade Contracts Classic Reprint written by Dwight Arven Jones and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Treatise on the Construction or Interpretation of Commercial and Trade Contracts This book is the result of an effort to state simply and clearly the principles which govern the interpretation of all mercantile contracts. As these principles are in no sense local or technical, the writer has drawn alike from American and English reports, and has endeavored to give heed to every authority which would aid in the establishment of such true rules of construction as are founded in reason. It is believed that the well-considered cases cited throughout the volume, and particularly those illustrating the aid parol evidence brings to construction, show a liberal and wise tendency on the part of many courts to depart from arbitrary rules and to strive after the real intention of parties. In the presentation of the various topics within the scope of the subject treated, the aim has always been to follow this tendency, and to insist upon the practicability and the importance of testing the authorities by reference to just principles of construction. By these means it is hoped that a systematic and consistent method for reaching the meaning of contracting parties has been disclosed, and that the rules of law set forth will be recognized as rules of justice.
