This book was released on 2017-12-26 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 69: October 10, 1907 Man has faith in man, but how often we are afraid to trust our Father in Heaven. He has placed us here, and His providence is over all. Everything is done by Him in order. There are certain laws which govern the universe, and certain laws that govern our lives, and if we have faith enough to bring ourselves into line with those laws, we are correspondingly happy. If we rebel, we pro duce friction, which causes pain. If we have an intelligent faith in God, and are keeping His laws as far as we understand them, everything that happens to us must be the best thing that could happen at that particular time, and if we have absolute faith in our Father we shall acknowledge this, although in our ignorance we may not be able to see it just then. It is this absolute faith that is needed to take the sting out of life and make it happy. We must not depend upon circumstances for our happiness, but we must learn to trust our Father implicitly. Faith has done mighty things. By it we can obtain all things. Paul said, I can do all things through Christ which strengthen eth me. That does away with all I can'ts. By faith the humble fishermen of Galilee were able to teach the world. By faith the Elders of Israel can do the same. Though they may not be highly educated, they can confute the learned men of the day. In the eleventh chapter of Hebrews we see what faith can do. Take, for instance, the Prophet Joseph Smith, whose faith brought God the Eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ from heaven to give instructions to a mere boy. When I was quite a girl I began to may for a certain thing. I prayed twice daily for twelve years, and then God abundantly answered my prayers in a way far beyond what I had hoped or even thought of. God lives, and by faith, if we keep His laws, we can claim from Him what we ask. Jesus said, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done. Paul said to the former-day saints, Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. We need have no fear, we need not worry over things, for all things work together for good to them that love God. Book The Latter Day Saints Millennial Star Vol 72

Download or read book The Latter Day Saints Millennial Star Vol 72 written by Jesus Christ Church and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-02-19 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 72: August 11, 1910 One of old, I think it was Pilate, asked the Lord, What is truth? Christ did not immediately answer the question, but He answered it at another time, and this was the answer that He gave to the question: Saith the Lord, my word is truth. If God has spoken, He has spoken the truth. If He has sent His servants who teach His word, then His servants teach the truth, and the Lord Almighty is bound to sustain His word, which is truth, and also to sustain every individual soul who has established his hopes upon the word of the Lord. Now permit me to say just a few words more with reference to this. What is truth? God is truth, and Christ is truth, and the plan of life and salvation instituted by the Father in the beginning is truth, and this truth permeates every doctrine of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Now, the question arises in the hearts of many people, Is the mission of Joseph Smith true? We come to the world to declare to you that his mission is divine, and from my point of View, and the point of view taken by every faithful elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, if the mission of the Prophet Joseph Smith be not divine, then the mission and the doctrine of the Lord Jesus Christ will fall in the same way. This is our testimony to the children of men, and this testimony bears to you, our friends, a message of peace and reconciliation to God. We believe in every doctrine taught by the Son of God, and our belief in these principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ are not of any avail to us except we do more than simply believe in them, What will it avail a man to believe that repentance of sin is a true doctrine, if he does not repent of his sins What will it avail for you or me to believe in Christ the Son of God, and yet neglect to obey and keep His commandments? Let us put our belief and our faith into works, and then we will please God. The Savior said, Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (matt. 8: 24 Now my friends, the Lord restored the Priesthood through John the Bap tist to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery, which holds the power of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and later he was visited by Peter, James and John, and they conferred upon him and upon his associate the Melchizedek Priesthood, which is after the order of the Son of God, thus conferring upon man the authority of God to ofi'iciate in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. N ow, these things are true, or they are not true. And we come to declare to the world that we know they are true. Therefore, whosoever will receive these teachings and this doctrine, and the blessings and privileges of the Holy Priesthood, will eventually become heirs of God, and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Download or read book The Latter Day Saints Millennial Star Vol 101 written by Hugh B. Brown and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-06 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 101: August 17, 1939 The Lord has favoured us. He not only gives us the evidence contained in the Bible but in addition the testimony that we find recorded in the Book of Mormon, III Nephi, Chapter 11. After the Saviour had been crucified and resurrected and ascended into heaven, a great multitude of people were assembled around the temple in the land Bountiful on the western hemisphere, marvelling at the changes that had been wrought. They heard an unusual voice repeated three times. It was not a loud Voice, neither was it a harsh voice, and yet it pierced them to their very centres'. Looking toward the sound they saw a man descending out of heaven. He was clothed in a white robe, and He came down and stood in the midst of them and declared to them, Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. What more direct evidence of resurrection from the dead could have been had than that He, in His resurrected body, came among them and taught them the same Gospel that He taught in Jerusalem? And He now fulfilled the promise He had made in Jerusalem when He said, Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. He came in His resurrected body to bring to them. The information He had predicted should be given to them. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 91: October 10, 1929 Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. I have often said if there were not another passage in the New Testament scripture, that itself is evidence of the divinity of Jesus Christ's mission in the world. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 75: September 11, 1913 A certain man was talking with me one day, and when I told him of the gathering of the Jews to Jerusalem, and how a Gentile army would encompass the city, and only be prevented from des troying it by the presence of two prophets within its walls, he took out his note-book and said, And now can you tell me where in the Bible I shall find what you have just said? My! Wasn't I glad I had made a note-book of my memory. You see, I early discovered it was no use talking without positive proof. The elders can carry their Bibles in their pockets, but as I don't have a pocket, the only thing left for me to do is to carry the knowledge in my head, and this course I adopted. I told him to go home and read Zechariah 14th chapter, and Revelation 11th chapter, side by Side, and he would find that what I had said was true. And now came the time when my faith was to be tested to its uttermost; but God gives us nothing to bear without first of all giving us strength to bear it, and so He first of all strengthened my faith, and then He put it to the test. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 72: March 10, 1910 Saul had been given a vision (acts 9: 3-5) and became a special witness for Christ, but Church authorities who were at Antioch performed the ceremony by which he was finally commissioned. As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. (acts 13: 1 The scrip tures we have cited show the manner of ordaining officers of the Church of Christ formerly, and is important as a guide in any and all ages where the accepted Church is concerned. Like all other scripture, these passages show the true nature of God and His manner of dealing with His children. He is unchangeable; His truths of centuries past are truths to-day; and even as God is God from everlasting to everlasting, so is Jesus Christ, the same yes day, today and forever.
