Book Something that I read in a book W B Yeats s Annotations at the National Library of Ireland

Download or read book Something that I read in a book W B Yeats s Annotations at the National Library of Ireland written by Wayne K. Chapman and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2022-02-12 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a resource to enable scholars and students in Yeats studies to explore the materials in his library, which, together with his unpublished papers and manuscripts, forms part of the writer’s archive in the National Library. Generally, this first volume describes the evidence that he and his wife, George, left in books by other authors, including extensive indications of close reading and thinking on a surprising range of subjects. This book could not have been written without the generous participation of the Yeats family over many years. Their legacy, now entrusted to the National Library, is robust and endless in potential. This book is about individual cases but also the building of an oeuvre. In short, this book enriches our understanding of Yeats’s accomplishment as a writer in over fifty years of creative effort and nearly seventy-four years of abundant life.

Book STROKE Analysis and Prediction Using Scikit Learn Keras and TensorFlow with Python GUI

Download or read book STROKE Analysis and Prediction Using Scikit Learn Keras and TensorFlow with Python GUI written by Vivian Siahaan and published by BALIGE PUBLISHING. This book was released on 2023-07-15 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this project, we will perform an analysis and prediction task on stroke data using machine learning and deep learning techniques. The entire process will be implemented with Python GUI for a user-friendly experience. We start by exploring the stroke dataset, which contains information about various factors related to individuals and their likelihood of experiencing a stroke. We load the dataset and examine its structure, features, and statistical summary. Next, we preprocess the data to ensure its suitability for training machine learning models. This involves handling missing values, encoding categorical variables, and scaling numerical features. We utilize techniques such as data imputation and label encoding. To gain insights from the data, we visualize its distribution and relationships between variables. We create plots such as histograms, scatter plots, and correlation matrices to understand the patterns and correlations in the data. To improve model performance and reduce dimensionality, we select the most relevant features for prediction. We employ techniques such as correlation analysis, feature importance ranking, and domain knowledge to identify the key predictors of stroke. Before training our models, we split the dataset into training and testing subsets. The training set will be used to train the models, while the testing set will evaluate their performance on unseen data. We construct several machine learning models to predict stroke. These models include Support Vector, Logistic Regression, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Decision Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, Light Gradient Boosting, Naive Bayes, Adaboost, and XGBoost. Each model is built and trained using the training dataset. We train each model on the training dataset and evaluate its performance using appropriate metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. This helps us assess how well the models can predict stroke based on the given features. To optimize the models' performance, we perform hyperparameter tuning using techniques like grid search or randomized search. This involves systematically exploring different combinations of hyperparameters to find the best configuration for each model. After training and tuning the models, we save them to disk using joblib. This allows us to reuse the trained models for future predictions without having to train them again. With the models trained and saved, we move on to implementing the Python GUI. We utilize PyQt libraries to create an interactive graphical user interface that provides a seamless user experience. The GUI consists of various components such as buttons, checkboxes, input fields, and plots. These components allow users to interact with the application, select prediction models, and visualize the results. In addition to the machine learning models, we also implement an ANN using TensorFlow. The ANN is trained on the preprocessed dataset, and its architecture consists of a dense layer with a sigmoid activation function. We train the ANN on the training dataset, monitoring its performance using metrics like loss and accuracy. We visualize the training progress by plotting the loss and accuracy curves over epochs. Once the ANN is trained, we save the model to disk using the h5 format. This allows us to load the trained ANN for future predictions. In the GUI, users have the option to choose the ANN as the prediction model. When selected, the ANN model is loaded from disk, and predictions are made on the testing dataset. The predicted labels are compared with the true labels for evaluation. To assess the accuracy of the ANN predictions, we calculate various evaluation metrics such as accuracy score, precision, recall, and classification report. These metrics provide insights into the ANN's performance in predicting stroke. We create plots to visualize the results of the ANN predictions. These plots include a comparison of the true values and predicted values, as well as a confusion matrix to analyze the classification accuracy. The training history of the ANN, including the loss and accuracy curves over epochs, is plotted and displayed in the GUI. This allows users to understand how the model's performance improved during training. In summary, this project covers the analysis and prediction of stroke using machine learning and deep learning models. It encompasses data exploration, preprocessing, model training, hyperparameter tuning, GUI implementation, ANN training, and prediction visualization. The Python GUI enhances the user experience by providing an interactive and intuitive platform for exploring and predicting stroke based on various features.

Book My Stroke of Insight

Download or read book My Stroke of Insight written by Jill Bolte Taylor and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2008-05-12 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Transformative...[Taylor's] experience...will shatter [your] own perception of the world."—ABC News The astonishing New York Times bestseller that chronicles how a brain scientist's own stroke led to enlightenment On December 10, 1996, Jill Bolte Taylor, a thirty-seven- year-old Harvard-trained brain scientist experienced a massive stroke in the left hemisphere of her brain. As she observed her mind deteriorate to the point that she could not walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life-all within four hours-Taylor alternated between the euphoria of the intuitive and kinesthetic right brain, in which she felt a sense of complete well-being and peace, and the logical, sequential left brain, which recognized she was having a stroke and enabled her to seek help before she was completely lost. It would take her eight years to fully recover. For Taylor, her stroke was a blessing and a revelation. It taught her that by "stepping to the right" of our left brains, we can uncover feelings of well-being that are often sidelined by "brain chatter." Reaching wide audiences through her talk at the Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) conference and her appearance on Oprah's online Soul Series, Taylor provides a valuable recovery guide for those touched by brain injury and an inspiring testimony that inner peace is accessible to anyone.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A brave, encouraging, genuine work of healing discovery that shows us the ordinary, daily effort it takes to make a shattered self cohere.” — Floyd Skloot, author of In the Shadow of Memory “The stuff of poetry and of nightmares... [Lee] investigates her broken brain with the help of a journal, beautifully capturing the helplessness, frustration, and comic absurdity (yes, a book about a stroke can be funny!) of navigating life after your world has been torn apart.” — Susannah Cahalan, author of Brain on Fire “Lee excavates her life with the care of an archeologist in this stunning memoir...Her account is lyrical, honest, darkly comic, surprising, and transcendent in the way it redefines the importance of family history, memory, and what of it we choose to hold with us. A beautiful book.” — Christa Parravani, author of Her: A Memoir “A searing memoir buoyed by hope.” — People “This honest and meditative memoir is the story about how Hyung-Oak Lee rebuilt her life, quite literally one step at a time, and how she discovered the person she had always wanted to become.” — Refinery29.com “Honest and insightful” — New York Times Book Review “Emotionally explicit and intensely circumspect... . With careful thought and new understanding, the author explores the enduring mind-body connection with herself at the nexus of it all. A fascinating exploration of personal identity from a writer whose body is, thankfully, ‘no longer at war.’” — Kirkus Reviews “Fearless... [Lee’s] engaging memoir...makes a difficult topic accessible and relatable. Lee expertly explains how the brain works and how even a damaged brain can adapt. Her narrative is both scientific and emotional, revealing the wonders of biology and the power of the human spirit.” — Booklist

Book Document Analysis Systems VI

Download or read book Document Analysis Systems VI written by Simone Marinai and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-08-26 with total page 575 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thisvolumecontainspapersselectedforpresentationatthe6thIAPRWorkshop on Document Analysis Systems (DAS 2004) held during September 8–10, 2004 at the University of Florence, Italy. Several papers represent the state of the art in a broad range of “traditional” topics such as layout analysis, applications to graphics recognition, and handwritten documents. Other contributions address the description of complete working systems, which is one of the strengths of this workshop. Some papers extend the application domains to other media, like the processing of Internet documents. The peculiarity of this 6th workshop was the large number of papers related to digital libraries and to the processing of historical documents, a taste which frequently requires the analysis of color documents. A total of 17 papers are associated with these topics, whereas two yearsago (in DAS 2002) only a couple of papers dealt with these problems. In our view there are three main reasons for this new wave in the DAS community. From the scienti?c point of view, several research ?elds reached a thorough knowledge of techniques and problems that can be e?ectively solved, and this expertise can now be applied to new domains. Another incentive has been provided by several research projects funded by the EC and the NSF on topics related to digital libraries.
