The protest, known as the Umbrella Movement, called for ‘genuine democracy’, as well as a fairer social and economic system. The book aims to provide a dynamic framework to explain why socioeconomic forces converged to produce such a situation. Examining increasing inequality, rising prices and stagnating incomes, it stresses the role of economic and social factors, as opposed to the domestic political and constitutional issues often assumed to be the root cause behind the protests. It first argues that globalization and the increasing influence of China’s economy in Hong Kong has weighted on salaries. Second, it shows that the oligopolistic nature of the local economy has generated rents, which have reinforced inequality. The population decline of the two species can be mainly attributed to the degradation of the natural riparian and wetland habitats, which is associated with land use development. The populations of the two species are now recovering in Japan due to recent conservation and reproduction efforts, but the genetic diversity of the two species are still low due to previous bottleneck effects. To develop conservation and dispersal plans to establish the species over the East Asian mainland and on the island of Hokkaido, basic information, such as their regional distribution, genetic diversity, food availability, reproductive traits, and nesting, breeding, rearing, and commuting habitat, is essential. The intensive, collaborative studies conducted in Japan and Russia has clarified the status quo and the ecology of the two species. This is the first book that comprehensively compiles the above information for the mainland and island populations. In addition, it verifies their suitability as umbrella species of an ecosystem and the possibility of their future population expansion, taking into account changes in land use in Hokkaido, which is about to experience a dramatic decline in human population. She went back to Harare where she trained as a Nurse for three and half years. She left Nursing and went to Ghana where she was trained as a Secretary. Later she went to Canada where she did an Instructors Diploma at the University of British Columbia. Professionally she worked as a Private Secretary for fifteen years; then worked as a Lecturer for nineteen years. Though she was born in a Methodist Christian family, married to an Anglican Christian family; she became a Born Again Christian in 1986. She became a Deacon in the Ambassadors for Christ Ministries International Church and was later ordained as an Elder. In this respect she attended and organised several workshops and conferences and has been to many different countries. Her passion in all her books is for people to read the bible for themselves. And get the word directly from God and experience what God has in store for them. This is her fourth book, which goes to show that what the bible says: that with God anything is possible is true if you press on. Florence has looked after several orphans and widows; and gets satisfaction in seeing how well the orphans have turned out. Most of them are doing exceedingly well.
