This book was released on 2018-10-30 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Confused about the myriad of kosher symbols on food packaging? Don't know how to reach a kosher certifying agency? Interested in traveling around the world, and you want to know about kosher, synagogues, and Jewish life, and have no way to find out? Here's the answer: The Kosher Supervision Guide-2019 Edition. With 1,427 kosher certifying organizations worldwide, this Guide has it all. Just turn to the front of the book for a pictorial index of every known kosher symbol in the world, and then look it up on the appropriate page in the book. Or, turn to the back of the main section, and search for a kosher agency by name. If you are traveling anywhere in the world, The Kosher Supervision Guide-2019 Edition puts at your fingertips exact contact information for the people responsible for kosher in every given community. You have their names, telephone numbers, cell numbers, fax numbers and email addresses. You have websites which give you detailed food information in every community. Plus, the Guide includes a brief list of kosher certifications for each kosher agency. The Kosher Supervision Guide-2019 Edition is published by the Kashrus Institute, which has been providing the kosher consumer and the kosher trade valuable information for over 37 years. The Institute does not supervise any product and is not affiliated with any kosher food agency, but serves as an informational and educational organization, publishing 5 magazines and 3 guides throughout the year. Subscriptions are available from The Kashrus Institute at (718) 336-8544 or [email protected] at $28/year for domestic subscriptions, and is also available to subscribers outside the U.S. at a slightly higher rate. Sample copies are also available; contact the Institute for detailed subscription information. Extensive communication takes place between the Kashrus Institute and all known kosher certifying organizations to update their information in the new Guide. All agencies receive a questionnaire and follow ups. Hundreds of hours of production are put into producing each and every Kosher Supervision Guide, now 224 pages. What the Guide does not tell you is upon which agency you should rely. As in everything in life, each person is responsible for himself, and nobody should dictate their prejudices on anyone else. The Guide gives you much detailed information which will help you make your own choice upon whom to rely, or you may consult a rabbi or kosher certifying agency for further guidance. We welcome information or queries about kosher symbols and kosher agencies not included in the current Guide. An Addendum to the current Guide will be published in October of 2019. The next full Kosher Supervision Guide will be published in October of 2020.

Book The Routledge Handbook of Vegan Studies

Download or read book The Routledge Handbook of Vegan Studies written by Laura Wright and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-03-30 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This wide-ranging volume explores the tension between the dietary practice of veganism and the manifestation, construction, and representation of a vegan identity in today’s society. Emerging in the early 21st century, vegan studies is distinct from more familiar conceptions of "animal studies," an umbrella term for a three-pronged field that gained prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s, consisting of critical animal studies, human animal studies, and posthumanism. While veganism is a consideration of these modes of inquiry, it is a decidedly different entity, an ethical delineator that for many scholars marks a complicated boundary between theoretical pursuit and lived experience. The Routledge Handbook of Vegan Studies is the must-have reference for the important topics, problems, and key debates in the subject area and is the first of its kind. Comprising over 30 chapters by a team of international contributors, this handbook is divided into five parts: History of vegan studies Vegan studies in the disciplines Theoretical intersections Contemporary media entanglements Veganism around the world These sections contextualize veganism beyond its status as a dietary choice, situating veganism within broader social, ethical, legal, theoretical, and artistic discourses. This book will be essential reading for students and researchers of vegan studies, animal studies, and environmental ethics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. It explains what Halal is, where it came from, how it is practiced, and by whom. In addition to putting Halal in a religious and cultural context, the book provides practical standards for those working in the Halal trade. It explains why there are so many different interpretations of Halal and why this needs to be resolved if international trade is to be developed. Each chapter in The Halal Food Handbook is written by leading experts in their particular field of study. The first one discusses how regulatory bodies have failed to stem the miss selling and adulteration of Halal foods. The next chapters cover the slaughter process and issues around good practice. The book then looks at regulators—covering Sharia law, UK national laws, and the EU—and outlines the legal framework for enforcing the law. It also compares and contrasts different types of religious slaughter for faith foods; examines attempts to set an international standard for trade; and discusses pork adulteration in Halal foods. The final chapter covers other aspects of Halal, including cosmetics, tourism, lifestyle, and banking, and finishes with a look at what the future holds for Halal. Written and edited by leading international experts in Halal who are backed by the Muslim Council of Britain Presents a set of good practice standards for both producers and consumers of Halal food Covers the complexity of the political, legal, and practical dimensions of Halal food production The Halal Food Handbook will appeal to a wide audience, including abattoirs, manufacturers, retailers, regulators, academics, public bodies catering for Muslims, and the broader Muslim community.

Book Halal and Kosher Food

Download or read book Halal and Kosher Food written by Osman Ahmed Osman and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-13 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In both Islamic and non-Islamic countries many population groups worldwide, such as vegetarians and people of the Jewish faith, consumers do not eat pork. Amongst these groups consumers are concerned about importing processed food which may contain or has been contaminated with pork or swine-derived products. This is especially true of halal foods in Muslim communities where the foods may be prepared or processed utilizing one of more non-halal ingredients. Halal and kosher foodstuff play an incredibly important role in the Muslim and Jewish diet, economy and health. This makes halal and kosher food product quality, safety and shelf life preservation a major topic in these communities and for the manufacturers of halal and kosher food products. Halal and Kosher Food: Integration of Quality and Safety for Global Market Trends covers a wide range of important topics in halal foods including quality, standards, safety of food additives, antimicrobial and veterinary drug residues, aflatoxin in feedstuff, application of Hazards Analysis and critical Control Points (HACCP). Important data regarding halal and kosher food similarities and differences are covered in full. Best practices in halal food product manufacturing are covered, plus the importance of halal food safety for consumer health. Written by elite international halal food experts, this work differs from other books on the subject which focus on history, legislation and certification. Readers can utilize this book as an orientation and practical guidebook to recognize the quality and safety of halal food products.

Book excerpt: Moo’s Law is the latest title from successful investor Jim Mellon, to help readers understand the investment landscape in cultivated and plant-based proteins and materials. Jim has a vision that within the next couple of decades world agriculture will be radically transformed by the advent of cultivated meat technology. This book grounds the reader in why such an advancement is absolutely necessary and informs them of the investments they could make to become part of the New Agricultural Revolution themselves. The harrowing effects on our environment, animal cruelty in food and fashion, and the struggling ability to feed the world's ever-growing population gives us no choice but to grow meat in labs or derive our proteins from plant-based sources. Not only this, he outlines what he sees as the major hurdles to the industry's success in terms of scalability of production and the smart designing of regulatory frameworks to stimulate innovation in this sector. The future of food is being developed in labs across the world - it will be cleaner, safer, more ethical and, importantly soon, cheaper too! Once price parity with conventional meats is reached, there will be no turning back -- this is Moo's Law™.
