Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The folktales provided earlier in our conversation involve a group of jungle animals who embark on a journey of discovery and unity. These animals, including Suri the wise lion, Nia the swift rabbit, and Rafi the perceptive owl, venture deep into the heart of the jungle's mysteries. Their goal is to uncover the hidden stories that the jungle holds and to strengthen their bond of unity. As they explore, they encounter challenges and mysteries that test their resolve. Along the way, they share their own stories, each reflecting the unique wisdom they possess. Suri speaks of the jungle's constellations, Nia tells of the playful winds that bring laughter, and Rafi imparts the wisdom within rocks and rivers. Each story represents an element of nature and a lesson in unity. Their unity becomes their guiding star, helping them navigate through the unknown and illuminate the truths within the jungle's tales. Amidst bioluminescent glows and moonlit scenes, their bond deepens, creating a symphony of connection that echoes through their journey. As they continue, they realize that unity doesn't mean conformity. Instead, it's about embracing their individual melodies while harmonizing with the rhythms of the jungle. Their adventure is a metaphor for life's journey, where unity, diversity, and the pursuit of wisdom are intertwined. The folktales capture themes of unity, connection, and the richness of nature's stories. They teach readers the importance of coming together despite differences and the transformative power of shared experiences. These tales aim to inspire readers, young and old alike, to find their own unique melodies within the grand symphony of life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This incisive study takes on one of the grimmest secrets in America's national life—the history of lynching and, more generally, the public punishment of African Americans. Jacqueline Goldsby shows that lynching cannot be explained away as a phenomenon peculiar to the South or as the perverse culmination of racist politics. Rather, lynching—a highly visible form of social violence that has historically been shrouded in secrecy—was in fact a fundamental part of the national consciousness whose cultural logic played a pivotal role in the making of American modernity. To pursue this argument, Goldsby traces lynching's history by taking up select mob murders and studying them together with key literary works. She focuses on three prominent authors—Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Stephen Crane, and James Weldon Johnson—and shows how their own encounters with lynching influenced their analyses of it. She also examines a recently assembled archive of evidence—lynching photographs—to show how photography structured the nation's perception of lynching violence before World War I. Finally, Goldsby considers the way lynching persisted into the twentieth century, discussing the lynching of Emmett Till in 1955 and the ballad-elegies of Gwendolyn Brooks to which his murder gave rise. An empathic and perceptive work, A Spectacular Secret will make an important contribution to the study of American history and literature.

Book The Secret History of the Jungle Book

Download or read book The Secret History of the Jungle Book written by Swati Singh and published by . This book was released on 2016-04-14 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human beings are born story-tellers, but perhaps no story teller that ever lived had quite the ability to move and inspire as Rudyard Kipling. And of all his stories, The Jungle Book has captured the imaginations of successive generations by bringing the Indian jungles alive, and has gone on to do it all over again through Walt Disney and other film-makers. But there is a mystery at the heart of the book, both books - because Kipling wrote two of them. There is a tale hidden in the very conception of the book and its characters, for Kipling was richly enriching his Mowgli stories with the symbolism of Indian mythology. How did an Englishman, dismissed as an imperialist, who wrote the books in Vermont, and is credited with believing that "East is East and West is West/And never the twain shall meet," manage to conjure such authenticity from a mixture of Indian folk tales and dialect words, and weave them into such a magical and compelling mixture? It isn't just that Kipling spent so long in India or that he felt so at home there. This book tells the real story behind Mowgli, Shere Khan and Baloo and the Jungle itself. Anyone who loved the characters and adored the Jungle Books as children, whether in film or book form, needs to read Swati Singh's journey into the soul of Kipling, and his own journey into the soul of India. Do that, and you will open up the real meaning of the Jungle Books, and it is as profound as it is unexpected. It will also change the way you see The Jungle Book forever.

Book excerpt: "Secret Jungle" is a photographic record of one woman's determination to reveal the beauties of a vibrant yet endangered world. Nicole Viloteau has spent over twenty-five years exploring the world's jungles, from Gabon to Australia, from Madagascar to Brazil. This book presents a selection of some of the most dramatic encounters and experiences of her travels. Taking the form of simple, poetic, sketches of jungle scenes, Viloteau's text describes the pure emotion experienced traveling alone in the heart of nature. Yet it is the photographs that are the most compelling: vivid close-ups of exotic flowers, almost abstract in their graphic patterns and bold colors, rare tree-frogs and lizards, their skin glistening with poison, snakes with glittering scales and jewel-like eyes. The book is divided into thematic chapters, illustrating the remarkable adaptability of jungle flora and fauna and the demands made upon them by their environment. With full-color photographs throughout, "Secret Jungle" presents a visually stunning world that is vanishing all too quickly.

Book excerpt: Will your chosen world be one chosen without your consent? The current & alternate futures described in this book include those of a world of "secure freedoms" which the UN SC's Consultancy Committee has chosen for us, with our passive consent, complicity, or fear of rendition and torture via Dershowitz Certificates [Torture Warrants] From the smoking landscape of Israel-Palestine, a New Israel has relocated, WMD & all, to a territory in Canada comprising most of Alberta, Saskatchewan, & Manitoba. Recalcitrant Reservations Natives who refuse resettlement offers and a new Occupation are classified as Palestine-like Terrorists - with dire consequences. Diana and Dodi Fayad's murders are shown as the context for the UK Establishment's staunchly anti-Islamic policies and eventual destruction of Iraq with the Crusader alliance led by the US, UK & Australia, guided by the Neo-Cons. The locales are Canada & the Middle East, today & explores a time when Toronto has become a province, while its 200-storey towers at Jane-Finch, & other towering edifi ces of institutional inequality comprised of a city block are now mini-cities. The Jane-Finch mini-city inhabitants are classifi ed as low economic value denizens'. Better off Citizens' occupy numerous, semiautonomous, 200 to 300 story edifi ces - also mini-cities - at Bay-King, Rosedale, Thornhill. PharmaCorps occupying a few city blocks are special corporate Mini-Cities, whose employees are integrated into the giant, sky-scraper condos on site,. Several chapters deal with the dilemma of a future Pope who has to vote for or against a Christian and Jewish war against Islam and the forced rewriting and re-interpretation of the Q ́uran by Christians and Zionists. He dreads the consequences. During this time he is being blackmailed by a group that wants to direct his decision. CHOSEN WORLD will challenge your world view. Book Reviews "The premis of "Chosen World" is that we all live in a world that is chosen, either by ourselves or by someone else. Which world do I choose to live in and how can I live in it when others are choosing a world other than what I'm choosing? The importance of recognising the other "choosers" and their right to make their choices AND my right to make my choices and to live by them is paramount. RESPECT of each other and Non interferance with others even when they choose to live differently from us are key factors in getting along in this world. I found the book challenging and insightful. It's not bed time reading for me but I highly recommend it to those who want to be enlightened about what's going on in our world and who's making the choices that impact your life." ---Jake Schmidt, Therapist / Counsellor, Keystone Counselling Associates "This is not an easy book to read. Like the incredibly popular Da Vinci Code, this book weaves fact, fiction and speculation. And at first this, along with the mixing of different fonts, it is a little jarring. But what really makes the book not so easy to read is the demand it places on you to not take for granted that power is being exercised by our culture, by our country and by other entities and forces who would want to make choices for us. Once you get over the inclination to stop and search out each movement of the story in order to validate and explore it, you let the story unfold and simply let it inspire you to take your place in this world with a little more seriousness, sobriety and resolve. Book The Secret History of MI6

Download or read book The Secret History of MI6 written by Keith Jeffery and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2011-09-27 with total page 834 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authorized history of the world's oldest and most storied foreign intelligence service, drawing extensively on hitherto secret documents Britain's Special Intelligence Service, commonly called MI6, is not only the oldest and most storied foreign intelligence unit in the world - it is also the only one to open its archives to an outside researcher. The result, in this authorized history, is an unprecedented and revelatory look at an organization that essentially created, over the course of two world wars, the modern craft of spying. Here are the true stories that inspired Ian Fleming's James Bond's novels and John le Carré George Smiley novels. Examining innovations from invisible ink and industrial-scale cryptography to dramatic setbacks like the Nazi sting operations to bag British operatives, this groundbreaking history is as engrossing as any thriller - and much more revealing. "Perhaps the most authentic account one will ever read about how intelligence really works." -The Washington Times
