Book excerpt: Having goals, wanting to attain excellence, pursuing multiple aspects all at once are all critical to success. However, managing our internal state of being while going through this journey is far more important since it can make or break how we feel about our worldly accomplishments. The focus of this book is towards our inner being as opposed to the external world. Think of this as two sides of the same coin, or an alternate means to the same end--Happiness. - Do you pay attention to the circumstances that govern your present? - Have you gained control over your thoughts, feelings and actions? - Are you conscious of what you're doing? - Do you burn with passion? - The passion to succeed? The Juggernaut Within provides specific tools and concepts, coupled with anecdotes from the author's experiences, which we can use to nourish our minds to such an extreme that happiness will almost become a prerequisite in our lives instead of an end goal.

Book Slingshot to the Juggernaut

Download or read book Slingshot to the Juggernaut written by Sander Hicks and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2012-04-10 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the ten years since 9/11, a grassroots truth movement has sprung up that unites the best elements of the right and left. The call to resist the secrecy, imperialism, and the manipulation of the elite has been heard by a wide spectrum of people, across religious and political lines. This is a revolutionary moment that has lacked a clarifying manifesto. Until now. Pulling from his personal confrontations with the FBI, Rudolph Giuliani, Eliot Spitzer, and Dick Cheney, activist, maverick, and investigative reporter Sander Hicks reaches for a broader understanding of who was behind the 9/11 attacks. He reports the mysterious murder of Dr. David M. Graham, a Shreveport dentist who met two of the 9/11 hijackers but was then harassed by the FBI and poisoned. Scientific evidence leads him to take a hard, critical stance against Bush, Cheney, and the 9/11 “Official Story.” Weaving evidence with anecdote, Slingshot to the Juggernaut is an inspiring ride into the 9/11 cover-up and the revolutionary possibilities it inadvertently created. Provocative and unyielding, Hicks examines the evidence, draws conclusions, and offers a vision for the future of the United States.

Book The Creative Art of Troublemaking in Education

Download or read book The Creative Art of Troublemaking in Education written by Frank Coffield and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-09-09 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on a lifetime’s experience and research in education, Frank Coffield brings together some of his previously published papers to assess the impact of a wide range of national educational policies and to examine the role of the state in public education. He concludes that damage has been done to education by political parties of both right and left and that damage will not be reversed until: further, vocational and adult education receive the same levels of commitment and resource as other sectors; serious steps are taken to tackle Britain’s unacceptable levels of poverty; and the powers of the state are reduced. Among the unresolved challenges highlighted are the plight of young people from deprived estates; their tactics in dealing with unemployment; the task of improving learning, schools, inspection, and system governance; the failure to increase productivity being blamed solely on education; and the dysfunctional and undemocratic political framework on which education reform is forced to depend. An essential read for anyone in education, this provocative criticism of our past and current educational 'system' provides an accessible as well as a humorous critique of educational policy and politics.

Book Mechanized Juggernaut or Military Anachronism

Download or read book Mechanized Juggernaut or Military Anachronism written by R. L. DiNardo and published by Stackpole Books. This book was released on 2008-08-04 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the great misconceptions about World War II is the notion that the German Army was a marvel of mechanical efficiency, combining lightning speed with awesome military power. However, despite the frightening strength of the panzer forces, about 75 percent of the German Army relied on horses for transport. Horses played a role in every German campaign, from the blitzkrieg in Poland in 1939 and the invasion of Russia to France in 1944. Even the epic tank battle at Kursk witnessed the use of these animals. DiNardo offers a compelling reconsideration of the German war machine. An unusual, myth-busting approach to the German Army in World War II Shows how horses were employed and how Germany acquired many of its horses from conquered countries

Book The Palgrave Handbook of Gothic Origins

Download or read book The Palgrave Handbook of Gothic Origins written by Clive Bloom and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook provides a comprehensive overview of research on the Gothic Revival. The Gothic Revival was based on emotion rather than reason and when Horace Walpole created Strawberry Hill House, a gleaming white castle on the banks of the Thames, he had to create new words to describe the experience of gothic lifestyle. Nevertheless, Walpole’s house produced nightmares and his book The Castle of Otranto was the first truly gothic novel, with supernatural, sensational and Shakespearean elements challenging the emergent fiction of social relationships. The novel’s themes of violence, tragedy, death, imprisonment, castle battlements, dungeons, fair maidens, secrets, ghosts and prophecies led to a new genre encompassing prose, theatre, poetry and painting, whilst opening up a whole world of imagination for entrepreneurial female writers such as Mary Shelley, Joanna Baillie and Ann Radcliffe, whose immensely popular books led to the intense inner landscapes of the Bronte sisters. Matthew Lewis’s The Monk created a new gothic: atheistic, decadent, perverse, necrophilic and hellish. The social upheaval of the French Revolution and the emergence of the Romantic movement with its more intense (and often) atheistic self-absorption led the gothic into darker corners of human experience with a greater emphasis on the inner life, hallucination, delusion, drug addiction, mental instability, perversion and death and the emerging science of psychology. The intensity of the German experience led to an emphasis on doubles and schizophrenic behaviour, ghosts, spirits, mesmerism, the occult and hell. This volume charts the origins of this major shift in social perceptions and completes a trilogy of Palgrave Handbooks on the Gothic—combined they provide an exhaustive survey of current research in Gothic studies, a go-to for students and researchers alike.
