When this part Of his article on eczema was first read, it seemed as if he were referring to the same type that I have in mind, but upon fur ther perusal in regard to the mid-position of the type between eczema and psoriasis, I felt quite sure that he was speaking about an entirely different form, as the type Observed by me has absolutely nothing to do with psoriasis. If I am interpreting this reference correctly, it seems to refer to that type Of seborrhoeic eczema, where the lesions are so small that it resembles the punctate variety of psoriasis. It considers how asylum doctors viewed and investigated the skin, muscles, bones, brain, and bodily fluids. The book demonstrates the importance of the body in nineteenth-century psychiatry as well as how the asylum functioned as a site of research, and will be of value to historians of psychiatry, the body, and scientific practice.
