Book excerpt: Though Jamie is deep in the closet, his lust for men is obvious to everyone he meets. In his freshman year of college, joining a basketball team doesn't help the young man fit in. Even his teammates mock him. That all changes one night when Jamie's bully slips into his dorm room. Jamie's "straight" teammate wants him bad, and suddenly the fantasies he's always denied can come true. Will Topher's rough ways be too much for Jamie? Or will his hardcore desires only turn him on more? (This short story contains explicit fantasies of a young man's first sexual experiences and is meant for adults only!) Book excerpt: Adam Black was the star quarterback of the university’s football team. Everyone on campus knew him and loved him. And Adam knew that. He was cocky, he partied too hard, he barely scraped by in his classes, and he was overall insufferable to a nobody like me. But the worst thing about Adam Black was that he was my roommate for the semester. Okay, maybe the real worst thing about Adam was that despite all these horrible qualities, I still managed to feel an uncontrollable lust when I was in his presence. Being his roommate meant sleeping less than four feet away from his nearly nude body every night and seeing him step out of our shared shower with only a small towel around his waist. It meant far too many fantasies playing in my head. But what if those fantasies weren’t only one-sided? Was it actually possible for Adam to be lusting after a nerd like me as well? One confession from him was about to change things between us forever...

Book excerpt: "This freshman is my roommate?" Straight muscle jock David's girlfriend kicked him out. He has to take the last dorm room at Stanford -- with eighteen-year-old Elias Chan. David takes every opportunity to lord his muscular physique over Elias, but Elias's reaction isn't what David expected. Elias looks a little too long at David's crunches and squats. Anyway, David is definitely straight, as long as no one asks too many questions. Especially no one as handsome as David's roommate Elias. "I can't stop staring at his muscles." Elias steals glances at David's lifts and stretches, and he can't help but accept when David invites him surfing. Holding on to the surfboard together in the breaking waves, smelling ocean salt and manly sweat, David and Elias are like -- roommates, just roommates. "Can we make it real?" David feels so close to Elias in their dorm room and on the surfboard, better than with any girl. But he can't let himself fall for a guy. Unless he does. Back to School is a standalone gay college romance with a feel-good HEA, hot surfing, and even hotter loving.

Book excerpt: The University of Pittsburgh campus is anything but quiet the summer Jamie, a hunky college sophomore, feeling brokenhearted after being dumped by his first boyfriend, decides to audit a summer class on Egyptology taught by the magnetic Dr. Danilo. Several of the university’s star athletes are then found murdered, their bodies completely desiccated, but Jamie has other things on his mind, as Danilo’s attention turns decidedly unprofessorial. Soon, he is swept up in a passionate affair with his teacher. When Danilo invites Jamie to travel with him, first to Paris and then to Egypt, the young man leaps at the chance, but in Paris, events turn sinister. At the Louvre, an exhibit of Egyptian artifacts includes a relief of a pharaoh kissing his son and successor, who bears more than a slight resemblance to Danilo. Taken alone, this means little, but a murder identical to those in Pittsburgh occurs, and Jamie begins to have uneasy suspicions. In Egypt, Jamie questions Danilo and learns of an ancient cult of kings connected by a single bloodline extending through centuries. Danilo is on a quest to invigorate this line of kings by initiating them and training them to use their power. Those who had been denied their own birthright died so that Danilo might live. Now Jamie must choose whether to return to the world he has known, or to join his lover and mentor in a life of passion, power and blood.

Book The Bus

Download or read book The Bus written by Jerome Bettis and published by Crown. This book was released on 2008-09-09 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He was one of pro football’s most beloved and respected stars, admired not only by NFL fans and his own teammates, but by his opponents as well. Super Bowl champion; six time Pro Bowler; NFL Comeback Player of the Year; NFL Man of the Year; fifth all-time leading rusher in the NFL; future Hall of Famer; now NBC Sports commentator. You may think you know Jerome Bettis, but you don’t. In The Bus, Jerome Bettis tells his full, unvarnished story for the first time--from his sometimes troubled childhood in inner-city Detroit to his difficult transition at Notre Dame, to a pro coach who almost caused him to quit the game, to a trade for the ages that resulted in ten glorious seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a chunky child wearing glasses, Jerome’s only sports-related aspiration was to become a professional bowler. But growing up in one of the roughest neighborhoods in Detroit, he eventually found his escape on the high school football field, thanks to the devotion of hard-working parents, a concerned coach, and his prodigious talent. He arrived at Notre Dame as one of the nation’s best prep players, but despite his incredible performances, he never stopped worrying that he would somehow blow his chance to make good. Drafted and later discarded by the Los Angeles Rams, it was in the football-obsessed city of Pittsburgh that Jerome found his home and became a legend. The Bus captures the sweetness and honesty of Bettis, but also details the jaw-dropping, violent nature of the game he loved, the mind-boggling injuries he endured, and the cut-throat NFL business tactics he overcame and later mastered. Through it all, Jerome was also a loving son, an adoring father, and the ultimate teammate and mentor. The Bus not only takes you under the helmet, but inside the huddle, the locker room, the practice field, the negotiating table, the owner’s office, and the Super Bowl sideline. You’ll learn how Bettis became The Bus, how he helped engineer the greatest trade in Steelers history, how he almost cost Pittsburgh a conference championship, and how sweet it was to win—finally—one for the thumb.

Book Thy Kingdom Come

  • Release : 2020-10-03
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 244 pages

Download or read book Thy Kingdom Come written by Richard C. Silk and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2020-10-03 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Thy Kingdom Come" is the first book in a series of "Newer Gospel" aimed at leading the world from the pre-Apocalyptic age (at the time of editing) into the post-Apocalyptic era (post-Armageddon.) The Old Testament (which started being recorded by Moses) served roughly 1900-2000 years until the writing of the New Testament, which has lasted 1600-2000 years, so this series is designed to hopefully serve another millennia (at least!) Acts 1:11 relates how Jesus (ascended upon a cloud) will return in like manner. While witnessing that event in person sounds super-cool, launching a book and publishing it online (in the "cloud") may be the closest I get to seeing it in this lifetime, but figuratively speaking, it fits the prophecy (paperback or other printed versions notwithstanding.) "Thy Kingdom Come" is man's invitation to God to "Throw the frickin' switch, already! Let's get this Apocalypse started!"

Book Professor Hardcore s Learning Curve

Download or read book Professor Hardcore s Learning Curve written by William C Horne and published by William Horne. This book was released on 2024-05-10 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Hardcore’s Learning Curve: Back to the Wild from 2025 (4 vols.) is more than an Appalachian Trail hiking story. It is about the subject’s whole life and why it took him sixty-three years to complete the trail. How does a naive, spoiled, nerdy, pretentious Lutheran minister’s son come to be Professor Hardcore? Worsening post-polio scoliosis (up to 110 degrees) and the manifold responsibilities of an English professor/outdoor educator married with two children are the physical challenges. But these are nothing compared to the slow learning curve of this escapist dreamer. For reasons to be revealed, his story has a meta-dystopian framing with three narrators, each with his own font color. His chief editor, Overton, is an android with learning capabilities. His AI learning curve mirrors the subject’s and addresses the threat of climate change, of nuclear holocaust, of reoccurring pandemics, of out-of-control artificial intelligence, and the value of wilderness. Volume 1 has three parts: I. Hornè ancestry and early childhood (up to 1950), II. Norristown (1950-1960), III. G’burg and Penn (1960-68). Part I introduces the ancestry overcharged Horne libido and the subject’s conflicts with his Philadelphia-born father and subsequent male authority figures. It also begins the theme of his love for Nature inspired by his mother who was raised in Gettysburg with is bucolic battlefield which he visited often. In Part II, leaving rural Sellersville, “Untrammeled wilderness” was not to be found in congested downtown Norristown where new parsonage was located. Polio at ten and it physical, psychological, and social consequences carry us through to Part III. Breaking loose from his father’s control, he begins to find himself in the College Choir, creative writing, and romance on the Choir tour to Europe. Right after the tour, marriage and parenthood provide focus for this callow young man who next must next jump multiple hurdles as student of English literature and Teaching Fellow at Penn in Philadelphia, his father’s home town. With a second child on the way, he leaves Philadelphia without his dissertation complete to take his first teaching job at University of Michigan-Flint, in Vehicle City, Michael Moore’s hometown.
