Download or read book Buddhist Birth Stories Or Jataka Tales Vol 1 written by V. Fausboll and published by Prabhat Prakashan. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 647 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is well known that amongst theBuddhist Scriptures there is one book in which a large number of old stories, fables, and fairy tales, lie enshrined in an edifying commentary; and have thus been preserved for the study and amusement of later times. How this came about is not at present quite certain. The belief of orthodox Buddhists on the subject is this. The Buddha, as occasion arose, was accustomed throughout his long career to explain and comment on the events happening around him, by telling of similar events that had occurred in his own previous births. The experience, not of one lifetime only, but of many lives, was always present to his mind; and it was this experience he so often used to point a moral, or adorn a tale.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the Greatest Persian Classic Book نه نگویم زانک خامی تو هنوز در بهاری تو ندیدستی تموز این جهان همچون درختست ای کرام ما برو چون میوههای نیم خام Nay, I will not tell (it), because thou still art unripe thou art in (thy) springtime, thou hast not seen (the month of) Tamúz. This world is even as the tree, O noble ones we are like the half-ripened fruit upon it. Mathnawi Maˈnavi (also known as Masnavi or “Spiritual Couplets of Maulana”) is one of the most influential works of both Sufism and Persian literature. The Masnavi, written by Jalal al-Din Muhammad, Rumi is a series of six books of poetry containing more than 25,000 verses. This spiritual writing teaches Sufis how to reach their goal of being in true love with God. Rumi is one of the best Persian poets and the Mathnawi is his masterpiece. Rumi used Persian and Arabic in his poetry. By the end of the 20th century, Rumi’s popularity had become a global phenomenon, with his poetry achieving a wide circulation in the United States and western Europe. His poems have been translated into many different languages including Turkish, Urdu, French, Turkmen, Spanish, English, Arabic, German, Italian, Albanian, Swedish, etc. Reynold Alleyne Nicholson's translation of Mathnawi is based on the oldest known manuscripts. The prose translation, similarly, is intended to be an exact and faithful guide to the Persian. In Book, the third of six volumes, it intertwines amusing tales with homilies to teach pupils in the understanding of God's meaning. It has a special focus on epistemology, explained with narratives that involve the consumption of food. We are very happy that the Mathnawi Maˈnavi of Rumi has found its way to you! Download or read book Literature Neurology and Neuroscience Historical and Literary Connections written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-11-25 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This well-established international series examines major areas of basic and clinical research within neuroscience, as well as emerging and promising subfields. This volume on the neurosciences, neurology, and literature vividly shows how science and the humanities can come together --- and have come together in the past. Its sections provide a new, broad look at these interactions, which have received surprisingly little attention in the past. Experts in the field cover literature as a window to neurological and scientific zeitgeists, theories of brain and mind in literature, famous authors and their suspected neurological disorders, and how neurological disorders and treatments have been described in literature. In addition, a myriad of other topics are covered, including some on famous authors whose important connections to the neurosciences have been overlooked (e.g., Roget, of Thesaurus fame), famous neuroscientists who should also be associated with literature, and some overlooked scientific and medical men who helped others produce great literary works (e,g., Bram Stoker's Dracula). There has not been a volume with this coverage in the past, and the connections it provides should prove fascinating to individuals in science, medicine, history, literature, and various other disciplines. - This book looks at literature, medicine, and the brain sciences both historically and in the light of the newest scholarly discoveries and insights
