Book Understanding the Real Teachings of Moses and Jesus

Download or read book Understanding the Real Teachings of Moses and Jesus written by Emeka Ude J. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-07-30 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the greatest challenges Jesus faced in the course of his ministry on earth was the unfortunate misinterpretations of the Law of Moses by Jewish religious leaders. The Synoptic Gospels contain a litany of altercations between Jesus and the Jews in this direction. In fact, these incidences eventually carried a high price: they cost John the Baptist his head and got Jesus nailed to the cross. Sadly, Christians today are repeating the same mistakes. Bible scholars all over the world have differed in the understanding of very critical scriptural teachings. Consequently, the scripture suffers carnal, physical, and literal interpretations in the hands of these religious merchants. The outcome has been confusion, delusion, needless controversy, and ignorance of the concept of the Body of Christ. In this book, Dara Ndu aims at correctly interpreting what he spoke in the books of the law, the Synoptic Gospels, and the revelations to Apostle John the Beloved.

Book Glimpses of Her Father s Glory

Download or read book Glimpses of Her Father s Glory written by Timothy E. Bartel and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-06-12 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Evangeline was a bestseller in nineteenth-century America, inspiring generations of readers with a heroine who overcomes colonial violence and exile in her romantic and spiritual quest across America. Long ignored by modernist scholars, Evangeline is finally getting the critical attention it deserves. Drawing on original research in Longfellow's scholarly manuscripts, Bartel explores the theological sources and spiritual world of Evangeline, arguing that Longfellow was inspired by the church fathers to craft Evangeline into a heroine who uniquely exemplifies, in her epic quest, the ancient Christian doctrines of deification and divine light. Bartel's Glimpses of Her Father's Glory returns Evangeline to its rightful place as a major poem of American literature, one that takes as its theme nothing less than the ultimate purpose of human existence.

Book Language Torah and Hermeneutics in Abraham Abulafia

Download or read book Language Torah and Hermeneutics in Abraham Abulafia written by Moshe Idel and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 1989-01-01 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abraham Abulafia, the founder of the ecstatic Kabbalah, exposed a mysticism that includes a deep interest in language as a universe in itself, to be studied as the philosophers study nature, in order to attain higher knowledge than natural science and speculative philosophy. The status of Hebrew as the natural, intellectual, and primordial language is discussed against the background of the medieval speculations regarding this topic. Abulafia proposed an elaborate hermeneutical system, unique in the whole Kabbalistic literature, for both its systematic exposition and the eccentric exegetical devices it describes. Various versions of this sevenfold system occur in several manuscripts that are collected and analyzed here in detail for the first time. Torah was regarded by Abulafia as the most important text, reflecting the constitution of the intellectual world and being identical with the Active intellect and even to God Himself. On the other hand, Torah was interpreted in Abulafia's Kabbalah as an allegory to the psychological processes of the mystic, an approach different from the regular Kabbalistic interpretation of this text as a symbolic corpus reflecting the divine intrasefirotic life.

  • Author : David Zaslow
  • Publisher : Paraclete Press
  • Release : 2017-03-01
  • ISBN : 1612619681
  • Pages : 230 pages

Download or read book Reimagining Exodus written by David Zaslow and published by Paraclete Press. This book was released on 2017-03-01 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than half the world's population is familiar with the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt when they were liberated from slavery. Religious groups and movements of liberation, from the Puritans to Mormons to the American Civil Rights Movement, have used it as a template and an inspiration in their own struggles for freedom. In Jewish tradition, the Exodus is applied to the individual life journey, with captivities, freedoms and wildernesses. This book will explore how the struggles in Genesis can be applied to our issues today—personal and cultural. "Rabbi Zaslow weaves a connective tapestry for people of faith who no longer want their religions to divide them from each other. Reimagining Exodus takes the reader on a timeless journey. It shows how the Passover story has been a roadmap for both spiritual and personal liberation for thousands of years. As the foundational story beneath Judaism and Christianity it is time to reimagine how this seminal story relates to our world and our personal lives today." — Fr. Richard Rohr, Center of Action and Contemplation "David Zaslow has taken one of the greatest stories ever told and made it even greater. This book is a tremendous gift to anyone who is taking a journey of the soul, seeking to escape internal slavery and make it to the promised place where suffering is no more." —Marianne Williamson, teacher and author of Tears to Triumph "With the mind of a scholar, the heart of a poet, and the sould of a Hasidic teacher, Rabbi David Zaslow explains the Biblical exodus as more than an epic event. This book offers readers the ancient story as a contemporary compass—one which can guide our lives toward greater meaning and purpose, regardless of the faith we follow, citizenship we hold, or the politics we practice." —Rabbi Brad Hirschfield, President, Clal, The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership
