Download or read book Renovation of the Heart written by Dallas Willard and published by Tyndale House. This book was released on 2014-02-27 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Christians, we know that we are new creations in Jesus. So we try to act differently, hoping this will make us more like Him. But changing our outward behavior doesn’t change our hearts. Only by God’s grace can we be transformed internally. Renovation of the Heart lays a biblical foundation for understanding what best-selling author Dallas Willard calls the “transformation of the spirit”—a divine process that “brings every element in our being, working from inside out, into harmony with the will of God.” This fresh approach to spiritual growth explains the biblical reasons why Christians need to undergo change in six aspects of life: thought, feeling, will, body, social context, and soul. Willard also outlines a general pattern of transformation in each area, not as a sterile formula but as a practical process that you can follow without the guilt or perfectionism so many Christians wrestle with. Don’t settle for complacency. Accept the challenge Renovation of the Heart offers to become an intentional apprentice of Jesus Christ, changing daily as you walk with Him.

Book The Inner Chamber and the Inner Life Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Inner Chamber and the Inner Life Classic Reprint written by Andrew Murray and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-03 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Inner Chamber and the Inner Life How the Church of Christ, and the spiritual life of thousands of its members, suffers from the root disease; the neglect of secret intercourse with God. It is the lack of secret prayer, the neglect of the maintenance of that hidden life rooted in Christ, rooted and grounded in love, that explains the feebleness of the Christian life to resist the world, and its failure to bring forth fruit abundantly. Nothing can change this but the restoration, in the life of the believer, of the inner chamber to the place which Christ meant it to have. As Christians learn, instead of trusting their own efforts, what it is daily to strike their roots deeper into Christ, and to make the secret personal fellowship with God their chief care, true godliness will flourish. If the root be holy, so are the branches. If the morning hour be holy to the Lord, the day with its duties will be so too. If the root be healthy, so are the branches. Book excerpt: Why is it so difficult to live the way the Bible teaches? Why don't things work out when we try to be truly holy? Why does the world give us so many problems? If you've struggled with these kinds of questions, there are answers. Walk the path of Spiritual Restoration. You will discover that our frustration and confusion often comes from our Greek worldview. God has a completely different perspective, but if we try to live with one foot in the Greek world and one foot in the Hebrew world, we feel compartmentalize, fragmented and defeated. We have unconsciously worked against ourselves by trying to make God fit the Greek model. All of that can change today! Spiritual Restoration reveals the startling differences between these worldviews. Now we can begin recovery and restoration where living the biblical worldview makes sense for what we need today. Author, teacher and consultant, Skip Moen has five degrees including a Ph.D. from Oxford University. With more than twenty-five years of business entrepreneurial development, Skip provides consulting that helps organizations align their leadership and operations with Biblical principles. He is the Dean of the Department of Biblical Leadership at Master's International Divinity School and the author of Words to Lead By, a study of Jesus' leadership. Skip achieved the American dream of independent wealth only to discover a life of pointless affluence. God radically changed his direction, exposing the myth of security in a Greek-based culture. Now he wants to recover the foundation of God's point of view for living. Subscribers to his web site (www.atgodstable.com) receive a daily word study focused on personal application of the depth of God's word. Download or read book Restored in Christ written by Susan Farrugia and published by . This book was released on 2020-01-10 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many have grown up with the idea that God is primarily a God of deprivation, a God of rules and regulations who needs to be appeased in order to love us, otherwise we bring his punishment and condemnation upon ourselves. God is Love. This does not make him some sort of sweet sugary God, but rather, because he does love us, he wants us to know his love, and in this love, to walk with him in the Truth. He wants us to be free from sin and the effects of sin which bind us and make us prisoners in the darkened cell of self.Restored in Christ hopes to open the deep inner doors of our broken selves to allow the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Love and Truth, to enter and to delve into the journey of healing. Jesus came to save us not only from sin, but from the effects of sin, from the distortions that have wounded us in our lives, and to restore us to the heart and love of the Father. Our own Father-image has been distorted because of the wounds we bear deep within. Some of these wounds may be seen, but others lie buried in the depth of our inner hearts and minds. Jesus has come to set us free so that each one of us may grow in His love and be restored into the person the Lord has created us and called us to be. We are called to come and to live out of our true being. This book can help you begin that life.

Download or read book Who Am I written by Penny Wiser White and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-06-01 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God called me into the ministry of inner healing decades ago and from that came a passion to see people set free in Jesus Christ like I was. One of the most troubling concerns in my thirty-five years of pastoral lay ministry has been the issue of identity in both men and women. Most Christians do not know who they are in Christ to one degree or another. We all wear false labels or identities which can lead to a lot of confusion, loneliness, anxiety, failure, insecurity, depression, and fear, with a ripple effect that goes into our families and all interpersonal areas of our lives. Add to that once Satan can take the child of God down in the area of our image, he wins as we become isolated, depressed, ineffectual in life, and ultimately hopeless that we'll never change, or our circumstances will never change. This false identity also hinders us from putting the past sins, hurts, and deprivations behind us. And since insecurity and fear are at the top of the list for most of us, it leaves us not trusting in the One who created us in his image, in his likeness-to have purpose, to serve, to love and be loved, and to share in the abundant life the Father promised his children. The Bible says in John 8:32, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be freed indeed." But it takes identifying what the false labels/identity is, then removing those labels and walking in the fullness of who our Lord always meant for each of us to be.

Book Apologetics for the Twenty First Century

Download or read book Apologetics for the Twenty First Century written by Louis Markos and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2010-10-06 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The vibrant and persuasive arguments of C. S. Lewis brought about a shift in the discipline of apologetics, moving the conversation from the ivory tower to the public square. The resulting strain of popular apologetics—which weaves through Lewis into twentieth-century writers like Francis Schaeffer and modern apologists like William Lane Craig, Josh McDowell, and Lee Strobel—has equipped countless believers to defend their faith against its detractors. Apologetics for the Twenty-first Century uses Lewis’s work as the starting point for an absorbing survey of the key apologists and major arguments that inform apologetics today. Like apologists before him, Markos writes to engage Christians of all denominations as well as seekers and skeptics. His narrative, “man of letters” style and short chapters make Apologetics for the Twenty-first Century easily accessible for the general reader. But an extensive and heavily annotated bibliography, detailed timeline, list of prominent apologists, and glossary of common terms will satisfy the curiosity of the seasoned academic, as the book prepares all readers to meet the particular challenges of defending the faith today.

Book Restoring the Restoration Movement

Download or read book Restoring the Restoration Movement written by N. R. Kehn and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Churches of Christ and Christian Churches comprise two of the principle fellowships to evolve from the American Restoration Movement-a movement fueled by the desire to abolish denominational borders and boundaries that have long divided the Christian community in hopes of building a brotherhood inclusive of all genuine followers of Jesus Christ. Nearly two centuries later, however, many within these two fellowships have abandoned the work of restoration and the hope of a united Christian fellowship. In Restoring the Restoration Movement, authors N.R. Kehn and Scott Bayles, with clever insight and a conversational tone, take a look "under the hood" at many of the doctrines that have divided the Churches of Christ and Christian Churches from each other and from mainstream evangelical Christianity in general-all in hopes of returning to the on-going work of restoration and to the original ideals of the Restoration Movement and true Biblical Christianity. N.R. Kehn has been a longtime member of Churches of Christ. With a secular degree in Network Administration and ongoing education in Software Engineering, Nathan combines impeccable logic with diligent Bible study. He currently serves in various capacities at the Florissant Church of Christ in Saint Louis, MO, where he also resides with his two sons, Nathan II and D.W. Scott Bayles is a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University and has preached for numerous Churches of Christ within the United States and abroad. He is also the author of The Greatest Commands: Learning to Love like Jesus. Currently, he serves as the preaching minister for First Christian Church of Rosiclare, IL, where he lives with his wife and two children.
