Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An appreciation of the genetic and environmental determinants of tooth size is fundamental to an understanding of the metric variation of teeth in humans. Thus, besides imparting a sound knowledge of the theories of dental inheritance, development and evolution, this book has an important role in demonstrating the diverse practical applications of odontometrics. A particular feature of the book is the inclusion of numerous tables which bring together a vast body of information on tooth size in different population groups. Students of oral biology, orthodontics, physical anthropology, human biology, forensic science and archaeology will find this work of great value as a text and reference source. As Professor Phillip Tobias writes in the foreword, 'The breadth of Dr Kieser's reading, and his mastery of a staggering array of anthropological, evolutionary, embryological, orthodontic and statistical concepts shine through every page of this work'.

Book Growth and Relationship of the Jaws and Eruption of the Teeth from Three Months to Two Years of Age

Download or read book Growth and Relationship of the Jaws and Eruption of the Teeth from Three Months to Two Years of Age written by Alan S. Richardson and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to find a suitable method for studying growth and development of the human dentition during the first two years of life, and having established such a method, to study in detail: 1. Changes in dimension of the maxillary and mandibular dental arches. 2. Changes in dimension of the vault of the palate. 3. Occlusal relation of the dental arches. 4. Eruption and movement of the deciduous teeth. Dental casts were obtained from 38 healthy Edmonton children, during a 21-month period. In all but five cases the first cast was obtained prior to the eruption of any deciduous teeth. Subsequent casts were obtained at six-month intervals, giving a total of one hundred and ten pairs of dental casts for the entire group. Growth changes were studied by means of direct measurements of the casts and by symmetrograph and pantograph tracings. Some of the observations are as follows: There is an active growth period in the dental arches during the first six months of life followed by a leveling off in the anterior region. Active growth continues in the posterior region of the dental arches after the six months period and particularly so in the mandibular arch. The observed growth changes in the dental arches appear to be associated with the eruption of the deciduous teeth.

Book Dento Oro Craniofacial Anomalies and Genetics

Download or read book Dento Oro Craniofacial Anomalies and Genetics written by Agnes Bloch-Zupan and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-03-21 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dental defects may be the physical expression of genetic defects, and so they can often be seen in a variety of syndromes associated with malformations of organs. However, dental defects are often not recognized, identified, nor characterised despite representing a possible diagnostic sign for an undiagnosed condition. This book addresses this gap by providing an understanding of dental genetics and its developmental biology counterpart. With approximately seventy well-illustrated examples, the authors present the clinical oro-facial manifestations accompanying various syndromes, providing the necessary knowledge for diagnostic purposes, as well as giving insight into recent development for each specific condition. The clarity and format of this book make it an ideal support guide both in the clinic and while conducting research. Comprehensive examination of dento/oro/craniofacial anomalies Well-illustrated examples Presented in a compact, easy to use format
