Book The Influence of Sample Size on the Dynamics of Beta Factors

Download or read book The Influence of Sample Size on the Dynamics of Beta Factors written by Kevin Rink and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2010-04 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,2, European Business School - International University Schlo Reichartshausen Oestrich-Winkel, language: English, abstract: The capital asset pricing model (CAPM) was introduced by William Sharpe, John Lintner, and Jan Mossin in the 1960s on the basis of Harry Markowitz's achievements in the field of portfolio theory. Since then, the CAPM has been one of the most widely used models for evaluating the price of portfolio assets. A major element of the CAPM is the beta factor. The beta factor measures how the expected return of a stock or a portfolio correlates with the return of the whole market. (...) Obviously, the fluctuation of a stock does affect beta factors. As the value of beta is decisive for the portfolio selection process, it is necessary to provide the CAPM with a beta that represents the best possible estimate of correlation with the market. On account of this, the calculation of beta factors is complex as betas will vary over time. In addition, sample size variation can cause change within the beta. (...) The aim of this seminar paper is to show the influence of the sample size on the beta factor. Furthermore, it shall attempt to define the determinants of an ideal sample size.

Book excerpt: The recent COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the importance of safety and ergonomics in the workplace. From work-life balance and mental health to risk prevention, maintaining a healthy and happy workforce has become essential for the progress of every company. Moreover, ensuring inclusive spaces has become a pillar of business with some worrying that the diversity agenda will be overshadowed by the recent pandemic. It is imperative that current research is compiled that sheds light on the advancements being made in promoting diversity and wellbeing in the modern workforce. The Research Anthology on Changing Dynamics of Diversity and Safety in the Workforce is a comprehensive reference source that provides the latest emerging research on diversity management and initiatives as well as occupational health and safety practices in the workplace. These concepts are necessary for global workplaces to remain safe, efficient, and inclusive. Covering topics such as employee equity, human resources practices, and worker wellbeing, this anthology provides an excellent resource for researchers, human resources personnel, managers, safety officers, policymakers, CEOs, students, professors, and academicians.

Book Mild Cognitive Impairment Influencing Factors and Intervention Effects

Download or read book Mild Cognitive Impairment Influencing Factors and Intervention Effects written by Ying Wang and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-07-16 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the aging population degree is deepened, cognitive impairment has become a globally recognized public health problem. As an intermediate state from normal cognition (NC) to Alzheimer's disease (AD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI) has a highly variable cognitive trajectory, which contains three outcomes: 1) progression to AD and other types of dementia; 2) Maintaining stability; 3) Reversal to NC. Reversal of cognitive function can be achieved by taking positive and effective measures. Current studies mostly focus on factors affecting MCI to AD. World Health Organization and Alzheimer’s Disease International have also proposed relatively mature guidelines for risk factors. However, there are still some influencing factors that have not yet formed a unified conclusion. In addition, there are fewer studies and no consensus on the influencing factors for MCI to NC. Current forms of intervention for MCI are mainly non-pharmacological interventions, and there is a lack of randomized controlled trials with larger sample sizes and longer intervention periods to confirm the effect of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that influence the transition from MCI to AD or NC in aging adults, and to examine how the influencing factors make the cognitive function of aging adults with MCI deteriorate, improve or even reverse to NC and how are their reversal rates. This includes effective measures proven through pharmacological and non-pharmacological intervention studies and their impact on reversal. Influence factors include but are not limited to demographic factors (age, socioeconomic status, education), lifestyle (smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, nutrition, social participation), mental health (depression, loneliness), diseases (hypertension, diabetes, sleep disorders), biological markers (ß-amyloid, tau protein), and pharmacological factors (cholinesterase inhibitor, Aß monoclonal antibodies, drugs to rebalance the gut flora), etc., and submission of research results based on intervention trials is encouraged.

Book Repeated Measures Design with Generalized Linear Mixed Models for Randomized Controlled Trials

Download or read book Repeated Measures Design with Generalized Linear Mixed Models for Randomized Controlled Trials written by Toshiro Tango and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-09-14 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Repeated Measures Design with Generalized Linear Mixed Models for Randomized Controlled Trials is the first book focused on the application of generalized linear mixed models and its related models in the statistical design and analysis of repeated measures from randomized controlled trials. The author introduces a new repeated measures design called S:T design combined with mixed models as a practical and useful framework of parallel group RCT design because of easy handling of missing data and sample size reduction. The book emphasizes practical, rather than theoretical, aspects of statistical analyses and the interpretation of results. It includes chapters in which the author describes some old-fashioned analysis designs that have been in the literature and compares the results with those obtained from the corresponding mixed models. The book will be of interest to biostatisticians, researchers, and graduate students in the medical and health sciences who are involved in clinical trials. Book Dynamics of Trust in Doctor Patient Relationship in India

Download or read book Dynamics of Trust in Doctor Patient Relationship in India written by Vijayaprasad Gopichandran and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-19 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an easy-to-read, yet comprehensive introduction to practical issues in doctor–patient relationships in a typical low- and middle-income country setting in India, examining in detail the reasons for erosion of trust and providing guidance on potential research areas in the field. It strikes a balance between empirical work and theoretical normative analysis, while adopting mixed-method research in exploring important constructs in the doctor–patient relationship, such as trust, solidarity, advocacy, patient-centeredness, privacy, and confidentiality. Since the concept of trust has direct implications for the ethical practice of medicine, the book is a valuable resource for academics and researchers in the field of medical, clinical, and applied ethics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The importance of conducting a statistical power analysis at the beginning of a study is universally accepted. Without careful planning, a study can easily fail to detect an existing effect by chance. This book teaches how to conduct power analysis for a range of models from correlation and t-test to structural equation models and multilevel models. Both a graphical Web software WebPower and an R package are introduced to practically conduct the analysis.
