Book The Influence of Gas Nuclei Size Distribution on Transient Cavitation Near Inception

Download or read book The Influence of Gas Nuclei Size Distribution on Transient Cavitation Near Inception written by Frank R. Schiebe and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report concerns research on the problem of transient cavitation on hydrodynamic bodies near inception conditions. A probabilistic model of the process is presented. The experimental apparatus for providing the bubble size distribution, which is a necessary input to the probabilistic model, is described. An acoustic cavitation occurrence counting system that can be used to check on the output of the probabilistic model is also described. Experiments conducted on a half body in a 6-inch water tunnel test system achieved fair agreement between the predictions of the probabilistic model and the measurements by the occurrence counting technique in some cases. Book Experimental Studies of Cavitation Noise in a Free jet Tunnel

Download or read book Experimental Studies of Cavitation Noise in a Free jet Tunnel written by C. S. Song and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of experimental studies on cavitation noise generated in the free-jet tunnel at St. Anthony Falls Hydraulic Laboratory in the period October 1960 to June 1961 are summarized. Two-dimensional test bodies of different shapes, such as a circular cylinder, wedge, and a TulinBurkhart hydrofoil were tested. Various types of cavitating flows, namely, transient cavities, steady-state cavities, and non-stationary cavities were covered. Special attention was given to the effect of ventilation on the intensity of cavitation noise. Effects of body size and the presence of a solid boundary were also investigated. (Author).

Book Experimental Investigations of the Spectral Distribution of the Cavitation Nuclei in Water

Download or read book Experimental Investigations of the Spectral Distribution of the Cavitation Nuclei in Water written by L. R. Gravrilov and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method of measuring the spectral distribution of cavitation nuclei in liquid in the form of gas bubbles is described and the results of tests for determining the number of nuclei in the water supply line are given. The property of gas bubbles to cause absorption of ultrasonic energy propagating in the medium water gas bubbles was established as a means for measuring the spectral distribution of cavitation nuclei. It was also shown that the basic causes of ultrasonic energy absorption were: (1) the transfer of heat from the bubbles to the liquid during periodic changes in volume under the effect of a sound wave, (2) dissipation of a part of the energy, since a bubble of resonance dimensions becomes itself a spherical emitter of sound.

Book Cavitation

    Book Details:
  • Author : Yves Lecoffre
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 1999-01-01
  • ISBN : 9789054107835
  • Pages : 432 pages

Download or read book Cavitation written by Yves Lecoffre and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text deals with the concept that cavitation is the main limitation to the performance of hydraulic components. Topics covered include the vaporization of liquids due to high velocities or pressure fluctuations, and the effects of cavitation on the performances of rotary machinery. One chapter is devoted to cavitation noise which concerns many users, including surface ships and submarines, and the author finishes with some examples of the use of cavitation and subject-specific measuring techniques.
