Book The In Situ Observation of Diamond Film Nucleation and Growth

Download or read book The In Situ Observation of Diamond Film Nucleation and Growth written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The growth of a two-dimensional ordered carbon monolayer on Mo(100) has been observed under conditions approaching those used for diamond CVD using a photoelectron emission microscope. The method used is a combination of HFCVD and atomic layer epitaxy, using a strongly chemisorbed oxygen layer as a nucleation inhibitor. Site-for-site place exchange of carbon for oxygen, that preserves the surface ordering, has been observed. Extension of this technique to surfaces that are templates for diamond epitaxy is being investigated. CVD diamond, Nucleation, Emission microscopy, In situ microscopy.

Book In Situ Real Time Characterization of Thin Films

Download or read book In Situ Real Time Characterization of Thin Films written by Orlando Auciello and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2001 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An in-depth look at the state of the art of in situ real-time monitoring and analysis of thin films With thin film deposition becoming increasingly critical in the production of advanced electronic and optical devices, scientists and engineers working in this area are looking for in situ, real-time, structure-specific analytical tools for characterizing phenomena occurring at surfaces and interfaces during thin film growth. This volume brings together contributed chapters from experts in the field, covering proven methods for in situ real-time analysis of technologically important materials such as multicomponent oxides in different environments. Background information and extensive references to the current literature are also provided. Readers will gain a thorough understanding of the growth processes and become acquainted with both emerging and more established methods that can be adapted for in situ characterization. Methods and their most useful applications include: * Low-energy time-of-flight ion scattering and direct recoil spectroscopy (TOF-ISRAS) for studying multicomponent oxide film growth processes * Reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) for determining the nature of chemical reactions at film surfaces * Spectrometric ellipsometry (SE) for use in the analysis of semiconductors and other multicomponent materials * Reflectance spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy for monitoring epitaxial growth processes * X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy for studying surface and interface structures * And other cost-effective techniques for industrial application

Book Epitaxial Growth Part A

Download or read book Epitaxial Growth Part A written by J Matthews and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Epitaxial Growth, Part A is a compilation of review articles that describe various aspects of the growth of single-crystal films on single-crystal substrates. The collection contains topics on the historical development of epitaxy, the nucleation of thin films, the structure of the interface between film and substrate, and the generation of defects during film growth. The text also provides descriptions of the methods used to prepare and examine thin films and a list of the overgrowth-substrate combinations studied. Mineralogists, materials engineers and scientists, and physicists will find this book a great source of insight.

Book Auger Electron Spectroscopy

    Book Details:
  • Author : Donald T. Hawkins
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 1468413872
  • Pages : 305 pages

Download or read book Auger Electron Spectroscopy written by Donald T. Hawkins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Auger electron spectroscopy is rapidly developing into the single most powerful analytical technique in basic and applied science.for investigating the chemical and structural properties of solids. Its ex plosive growth beginning in 1967 was triggered by the development of Auger analyzers capable of de tecting one atom layer of material in a fraction of a second. Continued growth was guaranteed firstly by the commercial availability of apparatus which combined the capabilities of scanning electron mi croscopy and ion-mill depth profiling with Auger analysis, and secondly by the increasing need to know the atomistics of many processes in fundamental research and engineering applications. The expanding use of Auger analysis was accompanied by an increase in the number of publications dealing with it. Because of the developing nature of Auger spectroscopy, the articles have appeared in many different sources covering diverse disciplines, so that it is extremely difficult to discover just what has or has not been subjected to Auger analysis. In this situation, a comprehensive bibliography is obviou-sly useful to those both inside and outside the field. For those in the field, this bibliography should be a wonderful time saver for locating certain references, in researching a particular topic, or when considering various aspects of instrumentation or data analysis. This bibliography not only provides the most complete listing of references pertinent to surface Auger analysis available today, but it is also a basis for extrapolating from past trends to future expectations.
