This chapter examines the importance of innovation ecosystems in the New Space industry from a Swedish perspective. It begins by providing an overview of the New Space industry and its key trends. It then discusses the role of innovation ecosystems in supporting innovation and growth in the New Space industry. Finally, it examines the Swedish space innovation ecosystem and identifies specific opportunities and challenges for Swedish New Space companies. The Importance of Innovation Ecosystems in the New Space Industry Innovation ecosystems are important for the New Space industry for a number of reasons. First, they provide access to a wide range of resources, including capital, expertise, and infrastructure. This is important for New Space companies, which often have limited resources of their own. Second, innovation ecosystems facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing. This is essential for the development of new technologies, which often require expertise from multiple disciplines. Third, innovation ecosystems can help to reduce the risk associated with innovation. This is important for New Space companies, which are operating in a rapidly changing and competitive environment. The Swedish Space Innovation Ecosystem The Swedish space innovation ecosystem is relatively strong, with a number of well-established companies and research institutions. However, there are also some challenges that need to be addressed to support the growth of Swedish New Space companies. One challenge is that the Swedish space innovation ecosystem is fragmented. There are a number of different actors involved in the space industry, but they are not always well-connected.
