Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microbial transmission, the processes by which microbes transit to new environments, is a significant and broad-reaching concept with applications throughout the biological sciences. This collection of reviews, edited by an international team of experts studying and working across a range of disciplines, explores transmission not just as an idea in disease but as a fundamental biological process that acts in all domains of nature and exerts its force on disparate size scales, from the micro to the macro, and across units of time as divergent as a single bacterial replication cycle and the entire course of evolution. In five sections, this overview Defines the concept of transmission and covers basic processes of transmission, including causality, control strategies, fitness costs, virulence, and selection Presents numerous combinations of transmission scenarios across the bacterial, animal, and human interface Examines transmission as the defining characteristic of infectious disease Presents methods for experimentally verifying and quantifying transmission episodes Concludes with important theoretical and modeling approaches Anyone studying or working in microbial colonization, evolution, pathogenicity, antimicrobial resistance, or public health will benefit from a deeper understanding of Microbial Transmission.

Book What to know about VACCINOLOGY The Basic Principles New Developments An Introductory Review

Download or read book What to know about VACCINOLOGY The Basic Principles New Developments An Introductory Review written by 5.70 and published by Dr.Hakim Saboowala. This book was released on with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What to know about VACCINOLOGY: The Basic Principles & New Developments. An Introductory Review. Vaccines have transformed public health, particularly since national programmes for immunization first became properly established and coordinated in the 1960s Immunization is a cornerstone of public health policy and is demonstrably highly cost-effective when used to protect child health. Although it could be argued that immunology has not thus far contributed much to vaccine development, in that most of the vaccines used today were developed and tested empirically, it is clear that there are major challenges ahead to develop new vaccines for difficult-to-target pathogens, for which scientific people urgently need a better understanding of protective immunity. Moreover, recognition of the huge potential and challenges for vaccines to control disease outbreaks and protect the older population, together with the availability of an array of new technologies, make it the perfect time for immunologists to be involved in designing the next generation of powerful immunogens. An attempt has been made in this Booklet to provide an Introductory overview of Vaccines, Immunization and related issues and thereby aiming to inform a broad Scientific audience about the underlying Immunological concepts along with plenty of relevant ILLUSTRATIONS & Tables for better understanding. …Dr. H. K. Saboowala. M.B.(Bom) .M.R.S.H.(London)

Subsequent sections of the report then provide information on the current status and proposed development of international reference materials in the areas of vaccines and related substances; blood products and related substances; in vitro diagnostic device reagents; biotherapeutics other than blood products; and antibiotics. A series of annexes are then presented which include an updated list of WHO Recommendations, Guidelines and other documents on biological substances used in medicine (Annex 1), followed by a series of WHO Recommendations and Guidelines adopted on the advice of the Committee (Annexes 2-7). Book Cry for Health Volume 1 Health

Download or read book Cry for Health Volume 1 Health written by Jesse Sleeman and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1950s the prevalence of the so-called 'diseases of civilisation' has continued to skyrocket in Western countries. Today, as the same story is beginning to be repeated in newly industrialised nations, modern diseases are reaching pandemic proportions. Why has this happened? The medical profession's spin is that the culprit is the aging of the population. But, as Cry for Health (Vol 1) reveals, there is overwhelming evidence for why our populations are ailing, evidence health authorities and governments have chosen to ignore, or have refused to acknowledge, or have kept hidden from the public to keep them clueless to the real culprits: many modern technologies and our modern lifestyles.
