This book was released on 2016-11-08 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Human Element in the Inspiration of the Sacred Scriptures But it appeared to me that men in Evangelical religious circles were for the most part too cautious in speaking with candor, or in making any conces sions not absolutely wrung from them by the force of circumstances, and that the tendency of much of the teaching in our Theological Seminaries is to sti e deep thorough and candid enquiry on all these points, and therefore to leave our rising Ministry quite unprepared for the work of the age before them. To adhere only to that which is old, seemed to me the final tendency of the exhortations of even such men as Dr. Mccosh when at Andover last summer. This was the great lesson he appeared to bring over from his past experiences in Europe. It is with regret I see so little real and hearty fellow ship with that which is living and therefore growing, and which must be more warmly welcomed by the religion that is to guide the coming age. Book The Human Element in Inspiration

Download or read book The Human Element in Inspiration written by J. N. Darby and published by . This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the question of inspiration has been so much before the minds of Christians, and indeed of all men, in countries where Christianity is professed, and is a vital question for every soul, I would desire to notice one point in connection with it, because on it even those who are accounted orthodox have used very equivocal language. It is what is called the "human element" in it. That there is a human element is evident, for it is men who are inspired, men whose language and whose minds have been used. I say, whose minds have been used; for the apostle tells of speaking with his understanding; but the expression is used to signify also the defect and errors to which man's mind is liable. Now this last means man's mind left to itself, that is, not inspired: a very different thing from inspiring man's mind.

Download or read book The Divine Inspiration of the Bible Classic Reprint written by Arthur Walkington Pink and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Divine Inspiration of the Bible If the Bible is the Word of God; if it stands on an in finitely exalted plane, all alone; if it immeasurably tran scends all the greatest productions of human genius; then, we should naturally expect to find that it has unique cre dentials, that there are internal marks which prove it to be the handiwork of God, that there is conclusive evidence to show that its Author is superhuman, Divine. That these expectations are realized we shall now endeavor to show; that there is no reason whatever for any one to doubt the Divine inspiration of the Scriptures is the purpose of this book to demonstrate. As we examine the natural world we find innumerable proofs of the existence of a Personal Creator, and the same God who has manifested Himself thro' His works has also revealed His wisdom and will thro' His Word. The God of creation and the God of written revelation are One, and there are irrefutable arguments to show that the Almighty who made the heavens and the earth. Is also the Author of the Bible. Download or read book The Pauline Theory of the Inspiration of Holy Scripture Classic Reprint written by William Erskine Atwell and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-07-19 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Pauline Theory of the Inspiration of Holy Scripture A subject which related to the operations of the Divine Spirit on the spirit of man, is, no doubt, intrinsically abstruse. Nevertheless, it has for many years appeared to me that there must be some influential cause besides at work, largely contributing to the present unsettled state of opinion on inspiration. What in the pure light of Scripture is clear, may become cloudy when compressed within the artificial enclosure of an arbitrary definition. Thus it really happened that the Pauline idea of inspiration has been lost sight of in the surrounding gloom of human improvement. In fact, the impossibility of adjusting the deductions of reason which proceed on uncertain principles, to the explicit statements of Holy Scripture, accounts for much of the present discontent occasioned by the inconsistencies abounding in many modern treatises on the subject.
