It was necessarily most agreeable to me to be able in any way to further the objects of that useful Society, and I was happy to accede to the request. I trust that the curiosity of my friends, as to what may have been my impressions during a journey through Palestine, and the interest which almost all persons entertain upon the subject of that country, may cause the undertaking to answer the purpose for which it is intended; and if, in addition to this object, these extracts chance to prove useful as a guide book to any future traveller in the East, my satisfaction will be much increased.
