The Old Testament is an epic saga of God’s chosen people, and in the New Testament, the Lord Jesus Christ teaches the people using everyday stories that are relatable and insightful. The Holy Ghost Stories continues this tradition and shares a collection of stories and parables about growth in God and humankind’s need for a relationship with God. Author David E. Weaver narrates these God-given stories, which contain both fictional and nonfictional examples of God’s love and Christ’s salvation. As you read these stories, you will feel the Holy Spirit working within you as you draw closer to God and begin cultivating a relationship with him. Jesus suffered on the cross for all of us, but why would God do such a thing? Through the modern-day parables contained within The Holy Ghost Stories, you can discover an answer to this eternal question—an answer that will speak to your soul and lead you on a path to eternity with the Lord.

Book Jesus the Christ A Study of the Messiah and His Mission According to Holy Scriptures Both Ancient and Modern

Download or read book Jesus the Christ A Study of the Messiah and His Mission According to Holy Scriptures Both Ancient and Modern written by James E. Talmage and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-02-13 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is particularly congruous and appropriate that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--the only Church that affirms authority based on specific revelation and commission to use the Lord's Holy Name as a distinctive designation--should set forth her doctrines concerning the Messiah and His mission. The author of this volume entered upon his welcome service under request and appointment from the presiding authorities of the Church; and the completed work has been read to and is approved by the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve. It presents, however, the writer's personal belief and profoundest conviction as to the truth of what he has written.A characteristic feature of the work is the guidance afforded by modern scriptures and the explication of the Holy Writ of olden times in the light of present day revelation, which, as a powerful and well directed beam, illumines many dark passages of ancient construction.JAMES E. TALMAGE.Salt Lake City, Utah,September, 1915

Book The Death of the Messiah and the Birth of the New Covenant

Download or read book The Death of the Messiah and the Birth of the New Covenant written by Michael J. Gorman and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-06-27 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this groundbreaking book, Michael Gorman asks why there is no theory or model of the atonement called the "new-covenant" model, since this understanding of the atonement is likely the earliest in the Christian tradition, going back to Jesus himself. Gorman argues that most models of the atonement over-emphasize the penultimate purposes of Jesus' death and the "mechanics" of the atonement, rather than its ultimate purpose: to create a transformed, Spirit-filled people of God. The New Testament's various atonement metaphors are part of a remarkably coherent picture of Jesus' death as that which brings about the new covenant (and thus the new community) promised by the prophets, which is also the covenant of peace. Gorman therefore proposes a new model of the atonement that is really not new at all--the new-covenant model. He argues that this is not merely an ancient model in need of rediscovery, but also a more comprehensive, integrated, participatory, communal, and missional model than any of the major models in the tradition. Life in this new covenant, Gorman argues, is a life of communal and individual participation in Jesus' faithful, loving, peacemaking death. Written for both academics and church leaders, this book will challenge all who read it to re-think and re-articulate the meaning of Christ's death for us.

Download or read book A Study on the Holy Ghost written by David Wilson and published by . This book was released on 2021-11-10 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the church today, there's a misunderstanding about the Holy Ghost. People need to know who and what the Holy Ghost truly is, and what He does in the lives of believers. The church sets the Holy Ghost aside as if He's not important in our lives. It's time we understand the rightful place of the Holy Ghost in the church. Salvation comes through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. It's a gift from God, a way to bring us back into fellowship with God, as Jesus comes to live in our hearts and lives. As precious and wonderful as Jesus is, He's now in heaven with His Father. However, He hasn't left us alone. He has sent us another comforter, which is the Holy Ghost. The purpose of this study is to open people's minds to who the Holy Ghost is and what He can do in their lives. Most people think of the Holy Ghost as a second-class citizen in the Bible. They don't realize the Holy Ghost is the promised comforter Jesus said He would send to us after He went away. The part the Holy Ghost plays in our lives is that of keeper and protector. He leads us into the deep things of God. His job is to comfort us, to encourage us, and to lead us in the right way till Jesus returns for His Bride.
