Book The Reader s Holy Bible Volume 4 The New Covenant

Download or read book The Reader s Holy Bible Volume 4 The New Covenant written by Devoted Friends of God and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-07-16 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Read the Holy Bible like a novel, not like a textbook! This version of the Holy Bible capitalizes on a new presentation style that has become more popular over the last few years, and one that is closer to the original version than most current ones. We've dispensed with chapter and verse numbers (they weren't added until the 1200s and 1500s, respectively), and we've put books that were split apart because they wouldn't fit on a single scroll (e.g., Ezra and Nehemiah) back into single books. We've also rearranged some of the books so they follow a more logical timeline and progression. We keep books with the same audience or author, or same theme or timeline, together. This makes it more cohesive for you to read. We've used the World English Bible, a readable translation that allows you to traverse the whole of God's word in thoroughly modern language. We hope you enjoy reading this new version of the Holy Bible, and may Yahweh bless you!

I COMPOSED, O Theophilus, the former treatise con 2 ceming all that Jesus took occasion both to do and teach till the day when he was taken up, after giving a charge by the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen, and to whom 3 he had, after his suffering, shewn himself to be alive, by many proofs, during forty days appearing to them, and speaking 4 of what concerned the kingdom of God. Then assembling them together, he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard 5 from me.* For John indeed baptized in water, but you shall be baptized in a Holy Spirit not many days hence. When they 6 therefore were come together they asked him, saying, Lord, art thou at this time about to restore the kingdom to Israel ? 7 Whereupon he said to them, It is not for you to know times and seasons which the Father hath reserved in his own dispo 8 sal. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit is come upon you; and you shall be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the remotest part of the earth. 9 And having said this, while they were beholding [him] he * See John 14. 26: 15.26: 16,7. And as they continued looking stedfastly up to heaven, while he was going, behold! two men stood near them, robed in 11 white, who addressed them, saying, Men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up to heaven? This same Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same manner as you have seen him going to heaven. 12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called 13 Olives, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day's journey* from it. Download or read book The Wisdom of God written by Nancy Guthrie and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2012-02-29 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 10-week study of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon mines the Wisdom Literature not only for wise principles for living, but also for the wise person these books point to through their drama, poetry, proverb, and song. In her accessible and authentic style, Nancy Guthrie focuses on seeing Jesus in the Old Testament instead of emphasizing works-based moralism. She presents clear commentary and contemporary application of gospel truths, speaking directly to issues such as repentance, submission, happiness, and sexuality. Each weekly lesson includes questions for personal study, a contemporary teaching chapter that emphasizes how the passage fits into the bigger story of redemptive history, a brief section on how the passage uniquely points to what is yet to come at the consummation of Christ's kingdom, and a leader's guide for group discussion.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Holy Bible, Vol. 4: Containing the Old and New Testaments; The Text Carefully Printed From the Most Correct Copies of the Present Authorized Translations, Including the Marginal Readings and Parallel Texts; With a Commentary and Critical Notes; Isaiah to Malachi The prophets appear to have gone in mean clothing either sack-cloth, hair-cloth, or coats of skin appear to have been their ordinary clothing. They spoke against the pride and vain-glory of man; and their very garb and manner gave additional weight to the solemn words they delivered. They lived in a retired manner and, when not sent on special errands, they employed their vacant time in the instruction of youth as this is probably what we are to understand by the schools of the prophets, such as those over which Elijah, Elisha, and Samuel presided though no doubt there were some of their disciples that were made partakers of the prophetic gift. Book The Reader s Holy Bible Volume 4

Download or read book The Reader s Holy Bible Volume 4 written by Devoted Friends of God and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-04-30 with total page 562 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Reader's Bible series is capitalizing on a new type of Holy Bible that has become more popular over the last few years and one that is closer to the original than not. It dispenses with chapter and verse numbers (they weren't added until the 1200s), and puts the books that were originally together (1st and 2nd Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah, etc.) back into single books. This is not to say you should abandon your other Holy Bibles for this one. They all have a purpose, whether it is a study Bible, a reader's Bible, or any other type of Bible. We made this particular one at the size we did so it is easier to carry, easier to hold, and easier to read. We used a larger text size against cream-colored paper so it is easier to read outdoors in bright sunlight, as well as indoors at night under a single lamp. We split the Holy Bible up into five separate volumes, so it is easier to carry and you can bring just what you're currently reading instead of one large, bulky Bible.
