Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now available in a thoroughly revised Twelfth Edition, Wintrobe's Clinical Hematology continues to be an industry leader with its ability to correlate basic science with the clinical practice of hematology. With the first edition of Wintrobe's Clinical Hematology published in 1942 clearly establishing hematology as a distinct subspecialty of Internal Medicine, the latest edition continues the influence of the Wintrobe name and helps to set this book apart from the competition. With its strong focus on the clinical aspects of hematology, the book has generated a strong following among internists and general practitioners who want a single resource to consult for their patients who present any blood related disorder. The Twelfth Edition is in full color for the first time, boasts a new editorial team, and includes expanded coverage of new medications and four new chapters on Newborn Anemias, Pathology of LHC, Spleen Tumors, and Myeloproliferative Disorders and Mast Cell Disease. A companion Website will offer the fully searchable text and an image bank.

Book Megakaryocytes Platelets Macrophages and Eosinophils

Download or read book Megakaryocytes Platelets Macrophages and Eosinophils written by J. Robin Harris and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blood Cell Biochemistry was initially conceived as part of the Plenum series Subcellular Biochemistry, from which it has developed into a separate series. The present volume is devoted primarily to contributions on megakaryocytes and platelets and, to a lesser extent, to macrophages and eosinophils. The book does not attempt a rigorous or total coverage of the particular topics; it represents the areas of current scientific activity and interest that were selected by the editor at the commencement of this project. In general, the approach has been similar to that adopted for Volume 1 of the series (Erythroid Cells); the same approach will be followed subsequently in Volume 3 (Lymphocytes and Granulocytes). This book opens with a developmentally oriented chapter by Janine Breton-Gorius on megakaryocyte maturation and platelet release in normal conditions, which serves to set the scene ultrastructurally for much of the data that follow. The biosynthesis and process ing of platelet glycoproteins in megakaryocytes is dealt with by Alain Duperray and his colleagues, and thereby provides an in-depth biochemical survey of the megakaryocyte. The applications and strengths of crossed immunoelectrophoresis for the study of platelet membrane proteins is then covered by Simon Karpatkin, and a detailed account of the heredity disorders of platelet function is provided by Francine Rendu and Evelyne Dupuy.

Book Platelets in Thrombotic and Non Thrombotic Disorders

Download or read book Platelets in Thrombotic and Non Thrombotic Disorders written by Paolo Gresele and published by Cambridge University Press. Download or read book Molecular Research on Platelet Activity in Health and Disease written by Isabella Savini and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-28 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book, which includes eleven articles five reviews and six original studies published in the Special Issue “Molecular Research On Platelet Activity in Health and Disease”, gives an international picture of the up-to-date understanding of (i) platelet signaling under physiological and pathological conditions; (ii) novel technologies for monitoring platelet functions; and (iii) clinical applications of platelet-based-therapy for management of pathological conditions, not directly related to hemostasis and thrombosis. The book reveals novel aspects of platelet biology, and will be helpful for offering new insights and a research impetus for those who are interested in developing new therapeutic tools for the management of pathological conditions depending on platelet dysfunctions.
