Book The Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics of Concave Surface Curvature

Download or read book The Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics of Concave Surface Curvature written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The overall goal of this project is study convective heat transfer and fluid-mechanics in a concavely curved turbulent boundary layer. The objective is to identify the mechanisms whereby concavity increases surface heat transfer. Progress during the past year has centered on the recently added goal of studying the combined effects of moderate levels of grid-generated turbulence and concave curvature. Overall results from the fluid-mechanics section of the project are that grid-generated turbulence increases the skin friction, but does not alter the near-wall mean velocity scaling or the near-wall levels of the velocity fluctuations. The heat transfer measurements are showing that the Stanton number is increased by the grid-generated turbulence with the combined effects of curvature and the additional turbulence producing the largest increase. Keywords: Heat transfer, Turbulent boundary layers, Adaptive grids.

Book Convective Flow and Heat Transfer from Wavy Surfaces

Download or read book Convective Flow and Heat Transfer from Wavy Surfaces written by Aroon Shenoy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-10-14 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Convective Flow and Heat Transfer from Wavy Surfaces: Viscous Fluids, Porous Media, and Nanofluids addresses the wavy irregular surfaces in heat transfer devices. Fluid flow and heat transfer studies from wavy surfaces have received attention, since they add complexity and require special mathematical techniques. This book considers the flow and heat transfer characteristics from wavy surfaces, providing an understanding of convective behavioral changes.

Book PC Aided Numerical Heat Transfer and Convective Flow

Download or read book PC Aided Numerical Heat Transfer and Convective Flow written by Akira Nakayama and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1995-04-07 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PC-Aided Numerical Heat Transfer and Convective Flow is intended as a graduate course textbook for Mechanical and Chemical Engineering students as well as a reference book for practitioners interested in analytical and numerical treatments in the subject. The book is written so that the reader can use the enclosed diskette, with the aid of a personal computer, to systematically learn both analytical and numerical approaches associated with fluid flow and heat transfer without resorting to complex mathematical treatments. This is the first book that not only describes solution methodologies but also provides complete programs ranging from SOLODE to SAINTS for integration of Navier-Stokes equation. The book covers boundary layer flows to fully elliptic flows, laminar flows to turbulent flows, and free convection to forced convection. The student will learn about convection in porous media, a new field of rapid growth in contemporary heat transfer research. A basic knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat transfer is assumed. It is also assumed that the student knows the basics of Fortran and has access to a personal computer. The material can be presented in a one-semester course or with selective coverage in a seminar.

Book Fundamentals of Convective Heat Transfer

Download or read book Fundamentals of Convective Heat Transfer written by Gautam Biswas and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-07-15 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermal convection is often encountered by scientists and engineers while designing or analyzing flows involving exchange of energy. Fundamentals of Convective Heat Transfer is a unified text that captures the physical insight into convective heat transfer and thorough, analytical, and numerical treatments. It also focuses on the latest developments in the theory of convective energy and mass transport. Aimed at graduates, senior undergraduates, and engineers involved in research and development activities, the book provides new material on boiling, including nuances of physical processes. In all the derivations, step-by-step and systematic approaches have been followed.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the reviews: "The book has a broad and general coverage of both the mathematics and the numerical methods well suited for graduate students." Applied Mechanics Reviews #1 "This is a very well written book. The topics are developed with separate headings making the matter easily understandable. Computer programs are also included for many problems together with a separate chapter dealing with the application of computer programs to heat transfer problems. This enhances the utility of the book." Zentralblatt für Mathematik #1

Book Modelling of Convective Heat and Mass Transfer in Rotating Flows

Download or read book Modelling of Convective Heat and Mass Transfer in Rotating Flows written by Igor V. Shevchuk and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-24 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents results of the analytical and numerical modeling of convective heat and mass transfer in different rotating flows caused by (i) system rotation, (ii) swirl flows due to swirl generators, and (iii) surface curvature in turns and bends. Volume forces (i.e. centrifugal and Coriolis forces), which influence the flow pattern, emerge in all of these rotating flows. The main part of this work deals with rotating flows caused by system rotation, which includes several rotating-disk configurations and straight pipes rotating about a parallel axis. Swirl flows are studied in some of the configurations mentioned above. Curvilinear flows are investigated in different geometries of two-pass ribbed and smooth channels with 180° bends. The author demonstrates that the complex phenomena of fluid flow and convective heat transfer in rotating flows can be successfully simulated using not only the universal CFD methodology, but in certain cases by means of the integral methods, self-similar and analytical solutions. The book will be a valuable read for research experts and practitioners in the field of heat and mass transfer.
