Book The Spectra of Sulphur Dioxide

Download or read book The Spectra of Sulphur Dioxide written by Frances Lowater and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Spectra of Sulphur Dioxide: A Dissertation The absorption spectrum of sulphur dioxide in the violet and ultra-violet regions was found for pressures of three atmospheres, two atmospheres, and one atmosphere, 1h cm, cm, and cm. The wave-lengths were determined by measurements made on the photographic plates in the usual way. The dividing engine used for this purpose was one by Gaertner, on which readings could be made to mm; that is, to a greater accuracy than settings could be made on the bands. The reduction factor was roughly 32 tenth-meters to 1 mm. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Heat of Formation of Water The reaction vessel, shown in Figure 2, was designed to permit the reaction to proceed quietly at constant pressure with one Of the gases burning in an atmosphere Of the other. This vessel was made Of Pyrex laboratory glass with the exception Of the burner tube, the tip Of which was silica glass. The Silica-to-pyrex graded seal on this tube is about 5 cm from the tip F. The glass vessel was supported by the brass frame J. The platinum wire leads at A were sealed through the two inlet tubes, B and 0, and continued down into the inlet tubes Of the reaction vessel where the continuity was broken by a gap Of about 2 mm. Two other pieces Of platinum wire, coiled at the top to assure rigidity in the tubes, extended down into the reaction chamber, one outside and one inside the burner tube. Book The Adsorption of Sulfur Dioxide by the Gel of Silicic Acid

Download or read book The Adsorption of Sulfur Dioxide by the Gel of Silicic Acid written by John McGavack Jr. and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-11-05 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Adsorption of Sulfur Dioxide by the Gel of Silicic Acid: A Dissertation Submitted to the Board of University Studies of the Johns Hopkins University in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Many investigations of the adsorption of vapors by porous bodies have been made without a satisfactory explanation of the phenomenon being found. The fact that the adsorbing material is not chemically definite but has adsorbent properties dependent upon its method of prepara tion is not the least of the reasons for apparent lack of agreement both in experimental results and theoretical conclusions. Again, the possibility, and in many cases, the great probability of chemical reaction occurring during the process bring in another factor which is hard to control. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed as an undergraduate-level textbook in Chemical Engineering, this student-friendly, thoroughly class-room tested book, now in its second edition, continues to provide an in-depth analysis of chemical engineering thermodynamics. The book has been so organized that it gives comprehensive coverage of basic concepts and applications of the laws of thermodynamics in the initial chapters, while the later chapters focus at length on important areas of study falling under the realm of chemical thermodynamics. The reader is thus introduced to a thorough analysis of the fundamental laws of thermodynamics as well as their applications to practical situations. This is followed by a detailed discussion on relationships among thermodynamic properties and an exhaustive treatment on the thermodynamic properties of solutions. The role of phase equilibrium thermodynamics in design, analysis, and operation of chemical separation methods is also deftly dealt with. Finally, the chemical reaction equilibria are skillfully explained. Besides numerous illustrations, the book contains over 200 worked examples, over 400 exercise problems (all with answers) and several objective-type questions, which enable students to gain an in-depth understanding of the concepts and theory discussed. The book will also be a useful text for students pursuing courses in chemical engineering-related branches such as polymer engineering, petroleum engineering, and safety and environmental engineering. New to This Edition • More Example Problems and Exercise Questions in each chapter • Updated section on Vapour–Liquid Equilibrium in Chapter 8 to highlight the significance of equations of state approach • GATE Questions up to 2012 with answers
