Book The Heart Soul Axis in the Jesus Prayer and the Integral Yoga Sadhana

Download or read book The Heart Soul Axis in the Jesus Prayer and the Integral Yoga Sadhana written by Marta Rubinart Rufach and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Jesus Prayer is a form of prayer that for centuries has been preserved and practiced by the Hesychasm, the eremitic tradition that is the direct inheritor of the Desert Fathers of early Christianity. Such prayer is deeply similar to the Integral Yoga spiritual practice or sadhana. Both traditions have a comparable understanding of the human being and both bestow a special role to the heart as the place for integration and purification of the psyche as well as of gnosis and union with the Divine. This dissertation proposes the term heart-soul axis to study the structural, functional, and phenomenological aspects of the heart. The main methodological tools are hermeneutics and the geometrical model or topological invariant of Panikkar to stablish homeomorphic equivalences enabling a valid integration of both traditions. In addition, the dissertation offers an autoethnographical narrative in which the heuristic process leading to a creative visual synthesis is disclosed.

Book The Essential Aurobindo

Download or read book The Essential Aurobindo written by Sri Aurobindo and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2001 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who wrote the Gospel of John? The author identifies himself only as "the disciple whom Jesus loved," and Christian tradition tells us that this disciple was the apostle John. However, during the past century, scholars have increasingly come to doubt that attribution. In 1902, Rudolf Steiner wrote that the author of the Gospel of John was in fact Lazarus. Steiner's position stemmed from his insight that Lazarus's encounter with death involved far more than people realized--an initiation into higher spiritual realities that uniquely qualified him to write this gospel. Edward Smith takes up this argument and shows that subsequent research has tended to favor Lazarus for reasons grounded in John's Gospel itself. More important, Smith shows that subsequent discoveries at Nag Hammadi and Mar Saba corroborate Steiner's reasoning about the nature of the raising of Lazarus, pointing to Lazarus as "the rich young ruler" of Mark's Gospel.

  • Pages : 0 pages

Book excerpt: This book will not only give a precise step-by-step description of the meditation technique at the heart of yoga but also put it into context with all other yogic techniques and how they contribute to the breakthrough to spiritual freedom. Yogic meditation derives its power from the fact that it systematically suspends the entire processing capacity of the subconscious mind and diverts it towards meditation. The processing power of the subconscious mind is a multiple of that of the conscious mind. Simply watching breath or watching awareness involves only your conscious mind. For quick and effective concentration the entire power of the subconscious mind has to be harnessed. This is the secret of yogic meditation. You will also find information on the importance of Kundalini as support for meditation and the factors that make it rise, such as chakra and Sushumna visualization, mantra and breath. The text then explains how the chakras represent evolutionary stages of brain and mind development. Chakra meditation, if done in a sophisticated, high-powered way, will propel the evolution of the brain and mind of the practitioner and the awakening of higher intelligence.
