Book The Guardians Winning at Any Cost

Download or read book The Guardians Winning at Any Cost written by Edward Kendrick and published by JMS Books LLC. This book was released on 2024-05-25 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Companion story to A Shattered Life Two men, bitter enemies. One is Roger Nielson. He works security for Phoenix Rising under the auspices of Greg Merrick. He also has a second job, working for a covert organization run by the Old Man. Its mandate is to help those who in need of its services. Roger is gay and often uses the fact effectively to get close to those who have to be eliminated. The second man is Rico Ferranti. Straight as an arrow, he earned Roger's hatred when they worked a job together while he was undercover for the DEA, although Roger didn't know he was. In the process, Rico's showboating almost caused Roger's death. They are brought together again when a gangster Greg helped put in prison is released and comes after him. With the help of Giuli Salvaggi, who also works for Greg, they are able to deal with the man -- permanently. In the aftermath, Roger suggests he wouldn't mind screwing Rico for tension release and Rico explodes. In the back of his mind, however, he wonders what it would be like. Then, Robin Seawood, who works for the Old Man, recruits both Giuli and Rico into the operation, much to Roger's consternation. From there, things explode when the trio is given the job of stopping the head of a Mafia family deep into drug dealing. When Roger is almost beaten to death in the process, Rico must come to terms with his feelings for the man while helping him recover. Can two opposites become friends ... and more? Only time will tell. NOTE: This was previously published but has been re-written and re-edited.

Book excerpt: The Guardians - Book 1 begins with an alien attack on Earth by a ruthless and merciless race of aliens called the Tyrax. They send a doomsday weapon that detonates multiple missile warheads over twenty-four sparsely inhabited land areas around the globe. It causes a biological transformation using nanobots that threaten to destroy all life forms on the planet within days. At the same time a Peruvian archeologist discovers a hidden chamber under a royal Inca temple in Cuzco, Peru that tells a story of past Inca rulers who seemed to worship alien beings from the time of the Spanish Conquistadors. During the attack an alien who calls himself Òmon makes contact and offers to help stop the alien nanobiotech contagion from engulfing Earth. Brandon Cole who works for NASA and a special team from the U.S. government are sent to Peru by the President to investigate the discovery. Òmon says he is one of the Guardians left behind to protect Earth from this ruthless race of beings intent on wiping out all living organisms on Earth so they can terraform the planet to their DNA. Over the centuries, Òmon has recruited a special group of human beings from the past to help fight the invading alien race. The battle begins between the attacking aliens, Òmon and the human race to prevent all life on Earth as they know it from being erased forever. The psychological impact on the human race is considerable. The ecological impact on the planet and the solar system will be incalculable. This is only the beginning for survival of the human species.

Book The Case for Meritocracy

Download or read book The Case for Meritocracy written by Michael Faust and published by Magus Books. This book was released on with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human societies have always been ruled by military elites, Mythos elites (religious or royal), or rich elites. They have never been ruled by intellectual elites. Humanity could be saved by knowledge, understanding, reason and logic, but these have always been despised by the average person. Intellectual attributes have never played a decisive role in human affairs. The intelligentsia have always been advisers, and never those occupying the throne and taking the decisions. What would happen to the world if Logos people rather than Mythos people were in charge, if smart people rather than military people were in charge, if people of knowledge ruled rather than people of wealth? The world would be transformed. Humanity would undergo a wondrous metamorphosis. A political system exists that can deliver this New World Order... a world where intelligence becomes the most valued resource. It's called Meritocracy.

Book Positive Behavior Management in Physical Activity Settings

Download or read book Positive Behavior Management in Physical Activity Settings written by Barry W. Lavay and published by Human Kinetics. This book was released on 2015-12-04 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s never been more challenging to manage behavior and motivate students in a physical activity setting. There are more at-risk children and students with disabilities to manage. Physical activity professionals also face the unique challenge of providing instruction to large groups with limited resources and distractions galore. If not handled correctly, these challenges can quickly add up to chaos, ineffective instruction, and frustrated, burnt-out physical activity professionals. That’s where the third edition of Positive Behavior Management in Physical Activity Settings, Third Edition comes in. This resource will help you not only overcome those and other discipline challenges, but also use tried-and-true, positive techniques to develop appropriate and responsible behaviors and good character among all learners. This new edition incorporates principles, methods, and instructional practices from psychology, special education, pedagogy, recreation, athletics, and coaching. It shows teachers, coaches, and recreation leaders how to apply the principles that have proven effective in schools, youth sport programs, and recreation sites. Positive Behavior Management in Physical Activity Settings offers this new material: • A new chapter on bullying, providing up-to-date information to help you recognize and manage such behavior within your group • A new chapter on children with special needs, including autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and behavioral/emotional disabilities • A new chapter on behavior management ethics and professionalism, to help those who are preparing to be physical activity professionals at the pre-service and in-service levels • New sections on motivating children who are overweight or obese, using the latest research to help you to encourage them to participate Also new to this edition are an instructor guide and a web resource. The instructor guide offers different sample syllabi, showing various ways to teach the course; sample assignments; answers to chapter review questions; suggested further readings; and useful websites and apps. The web resource supplies behavior management scenarios, sample forms (checklists, rubrics, certificates, worksheets) from the chapters, instructions for designing an Applied Behavior Analysis graph and a trifold display, useful websites and apps, and a glossary by chapter. This text provides you with evidence-based strategies in managing special needs populations, including designing a positive behavioral support (PBS) model and a behavioral intervention plan (BIP), as well as information on response to intervention (RTI). The authors have added a fourth section to this new edition. Part I details the challenges that professionals face in developing a positive learning environment, and shows readers how to be proactive in doing so. Part II outlines the interventions that physical activity professionals have successfully used in a variety of settings. This part includes chapters that discuss behavioral, humanistic, and biophysical approaches. The final chapter in this section addresses how to evaluate the behavior intervention. Part III explores behavior management with various populations, and offers the new chapters on bullying and on special needs children. In part IV, the authors discuss ethical and professional behavior of physical activity professionals relative to the application of behavior management techniques used with children and youth with a focus on professionalism. The final chapter will synthesize the information presented in this text and assist the reader to take the appropriate steps needed to develop a working, teaching, and behavior management portfolio. GUIDANCE TO MOTIVATE CHILDREN Positive Behavior Management in Physical Activity offers current and future K-12 physical educators, coaches, recreation specialists, and adapted physical education specialists guidance in motivating young people. You will learn how to manage behavior and create a physical activity environment that is conducive to performance and learning—and that is designed to empower children rather than control their behavior.
