Book Walk Down the Aisle The Wedding Stories of 3 Generations of Women Walking With God

Download or read book Walk Down the Aisle The Wedding Stories of 3 Generations of Women Walking With God written by Paula Ann Groetzinger Reid and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-10-05 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of 3 generations of women in my family; women walking with God. The story-line is based on facts, but purposely omits many details of the lives of the characters. It has been written this way so as not to get bogged down in details; and so the reader can read between the lines of the story...can virtually replace the photos with those from their own life's story, or that of a friend or relative. The book is only unique in the specifics, not in the generalities of how God works in the lives of His children. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. How one sees Him working in the lives of the characters in this book, is the same way He can work in the life of the Reader. An alternate title could have been: Everything in My Life Seemed to Be Going Wrong...But God! This saga is told from the 3rd person perspective of a wise, old Aunt telling a story to a group of young women preparing for marriage.

Book Blount County Alabama Cemeteries Volume 2

Download or read book Blount County Alabama Cemeteries Volume 2 written by Robin Sterling and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blount County was carved out of the territory ceded to the State by the Creek Indians following their defeat at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. The earliest settlers began streaming into the former wilderness as early as 1817. Blount was originally a large county, but over the decades pieces were taken to make up other adjoining counties such as Jefferson, Marshall, Etowah, and Cullman. Every cemetery within the contemporary boundaries of Blount was visited by the author and each readable tombstone was copied to develop the contents of this three volume series. Most of the cemeteries were read in 2002. Volume 1 covers alphabetically H through P, beginning with the Hipp Family Cemetery and concluding with the Phillips Cemetery (sometimes called the Old County Line Cemetery). This book is vital to any serious student of Blount County genealogy and history.

Throughout its history it has suffered political violence, and a devastating earthquake which killed over 300,000 people. The dictionary section has more than 500 cross-referenced entries on important personalities as well as aspects of the country’s politics, economy, foreign relations, religion, and culture. This book is an excellent resource for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about Haiti.

Book Normativity and Diversity in Family Law

Download or read book Normativity and Diversity in Family Law written by Nadjma Yassari and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-11-21 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With regard to family law, this volume examines claims based on cultural tradition, ethnic background, custom, religious affiliation and sexual orientation, as well as various other “claims” that are not officially recognized in state law, in 15 jurisdictions around the world. The country reports seek to determine whether these claims represent a challenge to family law as conceived by the state, and if so, how these challenges are being managed. The focus lies on the interaction between (i) claims and traditions raising minority-related and diversity-related issues and (ii) the state as the addressee of these demands for accommodation. The reports identify specific instances and situations that have proven (and in many cases still are) particularly difficult to resolve. They force decision-makers to engage in a delicate balancing act between different, often clashing interests.

Book Rewriting Children s Rights Judgments

Download or read book Rewriting Children s Rights Judgments written by Helen Stalford and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-11-02 with total page 615 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important edited collection is the culmination of research undertaken by the Children's Rights Judgments Project. This initiative involved academic experts revisiting existing case law, drawn from a range of legal sub-disciplines and jurisdictions, and redrafting the judgment from a children's rights perspective. The rewritten judgments shed light on the conceptual and practical challenges of securing children's rights within judicial decision-making and explore how developments in theory and practice can inform and (re-)invigorate the legal protection of children's rights. Collectively, the judgments point to five key factors that support a children's rights-based approach to judgment writing. These include: using children's rights law and principles; drawing on academic insights and evidence; endorsing child friendly procedures; adopting a children's rights focused narrative; and using child-friendly language. Each judgment is accompanied by a commentary explaining the historical and legal context of the original case and the rationale underpinning the revised judgment including the particular children's rights perspective adopted; the extent to which it addresses the children's rights deficiencies evident in the original judgment; and the potential impact the alternative version might have had on law, policy or practice. Presented thematically, with contributions from leading scholars in the field, this innovative collection offers a truly new and unique perspective on children's rights.

Book Adoption Memory and Cold War Greece

Download or read book Adoption Memory and Cold War Greece written by Gonda Van Steen and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a committed quest to unravel and document the postwar adoption networks that placed more than 3,000 Greek children in the United States, in a movement accelerated by the aftermath of the Greek Civil War and by the new conditions of the global Cold War. Greek-to-American adoptions and, regrettably, also their transactions and transgressions, provided the blueprint for the first large-scale international adoptions, well before these became a mass phenomenon typically associated with Asian children. The story of these Greek postwar and Cold War adoptions, whose procedures ranged from legal to highly irregular, has never been told or analyzed before. Adoption, Memory, and Cold War Greece answers the important questions: How did these adoptions from Greece happen? Was there any money involved? Humanitarian rescue or kid pro quo? Or both? With sympathy and perseverance, Gonda Van Steen has filled a decades-long gap in our understanding, and provided essential information to the hundreds of adoptees and their descendants whose lives are still affected today.
