Download or read book The Gospel for the Visual Learner written by Leslie C. Hughes and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2007-07-10 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you a visual learner? Do you more readily understand and remember concepts when they have been graphically illustrated for you? If the answers to these questions are "yes," then this book is for you! The Gospel for the Visual Learner vividly illustrates that Christianity exists in an entirely different realm than religion. In addition, the Fork Illustration provides a framework upon which you can visualize not only how you gain entrance into a life of grace, but also how you are called to continually appropriate grace for daily living. In every moment of your life, you are functionally living in one of the three positions represented on the Fork. Understanding what these positions are and how movement is made from one to another is foundational for vital spiritual living. If you are a non-believer who is unsure of the claims of Biblical Christianity, be encouraged you to read and see if you can locate your position on the Fork. Perhaps you have viewed Christianity as something far different from what Scripture asserts it to be. If you are a Christian, be challenged to read and evaluate your functional living in light of these three possible options. It could be that you are self sufficiently living like an adult who needs no help. Perhaps you are defiantly running from your Father. In either case, as you read, ask the Spirit to remind you of your position as God's dearly loved child.

Download or read book Visual Theology written by Tim Challies and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a visual culture. Today, people increasingly rely upon visuals to help them understand new and difficult concepts. The rise and stunning popularity of the Internet infographic has given us a new way in which to convey data, concepts and ideas. But the visual portrayal of truth is not a novel idea. Indeed, God himself used visuals to teach truth to his people. The tabernacle of the Old Testament was a visual representation of man's distance from God and God's condescension to his people. Each part of the tabernacle was meant to display something of man's treason against God and God's kind response. Likewise, the sacraments of the New Testament are visual representations of man's sin and God's response. Even the cross was both reality and a visual demonstration. As teachers and lovers of sound theology, Challies and Byers have a deep desire to convey the concepts and principles of systematic theology in a fresh, beautiful and informative way. In this book, they have made the deepest truths of the Bible accessible in a way that can be seen and understood by a visual generation.
Download or read book Called by the Gospel written by Michael Paul Middendorf and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-07-15 with total page 410 pages. In keeping with the predominant place of the gospel in Lutheran theology, this introductory volume on the New Testament carries the same title as the series, Called by the Gospel. Readers will find within its pages a high view of the Christian Scriptures, explanation of keys texts with careful attention to the historical and cultural contexts, particular focus on the presentation of Jesus by the various texts, and a conversational style that seeks to convey the message of the text for contemporary times. Although the book was written with university students in mind, any Christians who seek to deepen their grasp of the New Testament will find within its pages helpful and challenging insights. This book builds on material presented in the first volume of the series, Called to be God's People, and supplements its contents with maps, photos, suggested readings, discussion questions, and a glossary. Together these two volumes prepare the university student for an in-depth consideration of Christian doctrine in Called to Believe, Teach, and Confess.

Download or read book Gospel Fluency written by Jeff Vanderstelt and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2017-02-14 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: flu·en·cy / noun :the ability to speak a language easily and effectively Even if they want to, many Christians find it hard to talk to others about Jesus. Is it possible this difficulty is because we're trying to speak a language we haven't actually spent time practicing? To become fluent in a new language, you must immerse yourself in it until you actually start to think about life through it. Becoming fluent in the gospel happens the same way—after believing it, we have to intentionally rehearse it (to ourselves and to others) and immerse ourselves in its truths. Only then will we start to see how everything in our lives, from the mundane to the magnificent, is transformed by the hope of the gospel.

Download or read book African Americans and the Bible written by Vincent L. Wimbush and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-09-01 with total page 912 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perhaps no other group of people has been as much formed by biblical texts and tropes as African Americans. From literature and the arts to popular culture and everyday life, the Bible courses through black society and culture like blood through veins. Despite the enormous recent interest in African American religion, relatively little attention has been paid to the diversity of ways in which African Americans have utilized the Bible. African Americans and the Bible is the fruit of a four-year collaborative research project directed by Vincent L. Wimbush and funded by the Lilly Endowment. It brings together scholars and experts (sixty-eight in all) from a wide range of academic and artistic fields and disciplines--including ethnography, cultural history, and biblical studies as well as art, music, film, dance, drama, and literature. The focus is on the interaction between the people known as African Americans and that complex of visions, rhetorics, and ideologies known as the Bible. As such, the book is less about the meaning(s) of the Bible than about the Bible and meaning(s), less about the world(s) of the Bible than about how worlds and the Bible interact--in short, about how a text constructs a people and a people constructs a text. It is about a particular sociocultural formation but also about the dynamics that obtain in the interrelation between any group of people and sacred texts in general. Thus African Americans and the Bible provides an exemplum of sociocultural formation and a critical lens through which the process of sociocultural formation can be viewed.

This book was released on 1999 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What better way to bring the Gospel alive for teens than through drama? Using reproducible scripts, the dramas in Lectionary-Based Gospel Dramas for Lent and the Easter Triduum "break open" the Gospels for Lent, Holy Week, and Easter, moving the hearts and minds of youth and adults alike. By engaging in these dramas, participants act as catechist, lector, Gospel players, improv artists, small-group leaders, and audience--a unique learning environment that allows young people to be catechists for themselves and for one another. The dramas are powerful yet easy to stage. The leader's role is purposefully minimal, allowing teens to take the leading roles in the production. These dramas have been used successfully in school classrooms, parish religious education programs, youth groups, RCIA catechesis, homiletic reflections at Mass, and retreats. This book contains everything you need to produce ten dramas, including 10 reproducible scripts and 10 full-page icons by Vicki Shuck, which are an essential component for visual learners. Imagine the excitement and learning your teens will experience as they live the Gospel through drama!

Download or read book The Visual Word written by Patrick Schreiner and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2021-06-01 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New Testament shouldn’t be complicated. So why are we often confused? Every Christian wants to love the Bible. But let’s face it: we sometimes get lost in all the names, places, and doctrines that we find in its pages. Who wrote this epistle? Which book is about justification? Joy? Jesus? Aren’t they all about him? The New Testament contains complex ideas and multiple genres. Keeping it straight can be hard to do. Wouldn’t it be nice if somebody who understands the big picture would put it together for us in one place? Biblical scholar and seminary professor Patrick Schreiner draws from his years of experience as a teacher to offer a simple and memorable way of understanding Scripture. And he doesn’t do it by throwing big words at you. The contours of the New Testament and its underlying structure are depicted in visual format along with Schreiner’s clear explanations. In The Visual Word, the Bible comes alive because you can see it pictured before your eyes. By taking a graphic approach, you’ll notice connections you’ve never seen before. Gain insights you’ve missed all these years. And discover an overall pattern that makes each separate piece fall perfectly into place. Don’t settle for mere summaries of the New Testament. Let Schreiner’s concise words and crisp images work together to help you encounter the Living Word in a fresh way.
