For many, the 'gospel' is that God loves everybody unconditionally. Yet neither Jesus nor his apostles ever preached like that. They seem to have thought that the world needed to know about his righteousness and even his eagerness, to share that with us. That is because he is determined to have a universe in which there is no unrighteousness whatever. Why don't we think that is good news?

Book excerpt: The Knowing the Bible series is a new resource designed to help Bible readers better understand and apply God's Word. Each 12-week study leads participants through one book of the Bible and is made up of four basic components: (1) Reflection questions designed to help readers engage the text at a deeper level; (2) "Gospel Glimpses" highlighting the gospel of grace throughout the book; (3) "Whole-Bible Connections" showing how any given passage connects to the Bible's overarching story of redemption culminating in Christ; and (4) "Theological Soundings" identifying how historic orthodox doctrines are taught or reinforced throughout Scripture. With contributions from a wide array of influential pastors and church leaders, these gospel-centered studies will help Christians see and cherish the message of God's grace on each and every page of the Bible. The book of Romans was Paul's greatest literary achievement, a majestic letter in which the apostle expounds on crucial doctrines such as original sin, election, substitutionary atonement, the role of the law, and justification by faith alone. Plumbing the theological depths, Jared Wilson writes with a pastor's eye toward understanding and application as he explains the biblical text with clarity and passion, helping readers follow along as Paul recounts the history of salvation and illuminates the glories of the cross of Christ.

Download or read book The Book of Revelation Uncovered written by Samuel Jungsoo Kim and published by 도서출판 의제당. This book was released on 2023-03-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Revelation is a prophecy of “things which must shortly take place” in the last days. The climax of Revelation is when the seventh trumpet blasts. That will be the second coming of Jesus in the air and the moment the righteous will enter the glory of the first resurrection and rapture. Those who “overcame” the harsh oppression and persecution of the beast rising out of the sea and the other beast coming up out of the earth “shall all be changed--in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet” (1 Cor 15:51) blast and raptured. However, all sinners, including Christian sinners, will remain on this earth and receive seven bowls of God’s wrath. Then comes the Millennial Kingdom, the Second Resurrection of sinners, and the Eternal Judgment. God’s providence ends with the righteous entering the “New Jerusalem,” the City of Heaven, coming down from above. There the righteous will enjoy eternal rest and happiness. Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!

Book The Righteousness of God

    Book Details:
  • Author : Charles Lee Irons
  • Publisher : Mohr Siebeck
  • Release : 2015-03-10
  • ISBN : 9783161535185
  • Pages : 488 pages

Download or read book The Righteousness of God written by Charles Lee Irons and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2015-03-10 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advocates of the New Perspective on Paul appeal to the view that "righteousness" in biblical theology is a Verhaltnisbegriff (relational concept). This is the view that "righteousness" does not mean conformity to a norm, nor is it an essentially legal concept; rather, "righteousness" denotes the fulfillment of the demands of a relationship, since the relationship itself is the norm. This relational interpretation of "righteousness" was first put forward by Hermann Cremer in 1899 and exercised a profound influence in biblical scholarship throughout the 20th century. It lies at the root of the New Perspective claim that "the righteousness of God" in Paul is a cipher for God's saving faithfulness to his covenant, a view defended by N. T. Wright, among others. Charles Lee Irons provides a critical examination of Cremer's chief arguments for the relational, covenant-faithfulness interpretation. The author argues instead for the view that "the righteousness of God" in Rom 1:17; 3: 21-22; 10:3; 2 Cor 5:21; and Phil 3:9 is the status of righteousness that comes from God as a gift.

The firm foundation of our redemption is based on bedrock truths which frame the content of the gospel of God. In this two-volume set of The Gospel of God Watchman Nee presents the content of God’s salvation, including man’s sin; God’s love, grace, and mercy; the nature of grace; the function of the law and God’s righteousness; the work of Christ and the Holy Spirit; eternal security; and God’s dealing with the believer’s sins. These messages are comprehensive, ranging from man’s sinful condition before salvation to his destiny in the coming age. Christian growth depends upon a dynamically operative faith, and an essential ingredient for growing in Christ is a clear understanding of the truth which supports this faith.
