Book The Gold I Carried As Stone

Download or read book The Gold I Carried As Stone written by Jackie Khomotso Seja and published by Jackie Khomotso Seja. This book was released on 2021-01-25 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You are special! You are amazing! All that this book does is remind you of that and does its best in assisting you to let the gold that you are shine forth. The truth is that in life you can never achieve anything above how you view yourself nor your mind would allow you to work at achieving it. There is a scripture that I love from the bible which says: “As a man thinketh, so is he” proverbs 23:24. It is similar to a quote by one of my favourite philosophers Confucius: “He who think he can and he who think he can’t are both usually right” I have endeavoured in this book to show the potential that you have and that you are already awesome and you should let yourself busk in the glory and purity of your awesomeness.

Book Stinking Stones and Rocks of Gold

Download or read book Stinking Stones and Rocks of Gold written by Shepherd W. McKinley and published by . This book was released on 2017-09-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: South Carolina Historical Society George C. Rogers Jr. Book Award In the first book ever written about the impact of phosphate mining on the South Carolina plantation economy, Shepherd McKinley explains how the convergence of the phosphate and fertilizer industries carried long-term impacts for America and the South. Fueling the rapid growth of lowcountry fertilizer companies, phosphate mining provided elite plantation owners a way to stem losses from emancipation. At the same time, mining created an autonomous alternative to sharecropping, enabling freed people to extract housing and labor concessions. Stinking Stones and Rocks of Gold develops an overarching view of what can be considered one of many key factors in the birth of southern industry. This top-down, bottom-up history (business, labor, social, and economic) analyzes an alternative path for all peoples in the post-emancipation South.

Book Diamonds and Stones in an Era of Gold

Download or read book Diamonds and Stones in an Era of Gold written by Dr Brian Collopy AM and published by Interactive Publications. This book was released on 2018-03-18 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story is set in the city of Melbourne in the latter half of the 19th century, when it was growing rapidly, due to the gold flowing from Ballarat and Bendigo in mid-Victoria. It concerns Dr James Beaney, a very colourful and controversial surgeon, who amassed a fortune from his practice, and displayed it in the jewellery he wore, the mansion he had built (which still exists today) and in his social life. He was, however, a generous benefactor to the Melbourne University and hospitals in Melbourne, as well as to his birthplace, the city of Canterbury in Kent. Having weathered two harrowing court cases a decade before, Beaney, shortly after his re-appointment to the Melbourne Hospital in 1875, was implicated in another court case following the death of a patient he had operated on for a large bladder stone. Unwisely he had a facsimile of the stone made and placed in the window of a Collins Street book shop. An inquest was called for following correspondence in the press, particularly one letter from an unknown surgeon, which was highly critical of Beaney. The inquest is outlined in considerable detail and the skill displayed by James Purves, the brilliant young barrister who defended him, will be evident to the reader.
