Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Making of Nurse Professionals: A Transformational, Ethical Approach is a philosophical inquiry into the current state of educating nurses in ethics and professional identity formation. The authors propose a visionary, grounded framework for the transformation of students into nurse professionals that is inclusive of virtue ethics and character development. The Making of Nurse Professionals is a clarion call to shift from a narrow student-consumerist paradigm to one of civic mindedness and recognition of duties to society and the discipline. Through this new vision, the professional life moves beyond just following rules and becomes one of flourishing and professional growth.

Book excerpt: A dazzling debut about the power of family and the pain of betrayal set within Manhattan's Fifth Avenue apartments, the opulent mansions of the new Moscow, and the pre-revolutionary palaces of Saint Petersburg. Sasha Ozerovsky is a young expert in Russian art at Leighton's, an exclusive Manhattan auction house. When a dealer arrives from Moscow with an exquisite 1913 Fabergé figurine, Sasha immediately recognizes a rare masterpiece. But in the high stakes art world, the price of an object is tied to its history. If Sasha can determine for whom the bejeweled piece was made and where it has been hiding for the past century, its value -- and Sasha's career -- will soar. But as Sasha moves between New York's high society and Russia's new rich, he discovers that the piece once belonged to his family, and he must face questions about their past that he never dared to ask. Superbly plotted and evoking the elegance of Russia's gilded age, Object of Virtue is an enthralling tale that explores what happens to a family torn between vanity and virtue.

But the commander of the UN’s special forces has other plans. The last thing she wants is another government job. Given an ultimatum—and a babysitter—she plays along. Tyler Grace should have been a farmer in east Texas, but the universe had other plans. A tactical expert for the Base Branch, when he finds a problem, he seeks the best way to fix it. Cara presents an obstacle he’s ill prepared to conquer—but he’ll die trying. Struggling to sort through her past, Cara clings to the one virtue she has left, while Tyler dares to prove she never lost them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Responsibility. Courage. Compassion. Honesty. Friendship. Persistence. Faith. Everyone recognizes these traits as essentials of good character. In order for our children to develop such traits, we have to offer them examples of good and bad, right and wrong. And the best places to find them are in great works of literature and exemplary stories from history. William J. Bennett has collected hundreds of stories in The Book of Virtues, an instructive and inspiring anthology that will help children understand and develop character -- and help adults teach them. From the Bible to American history, from Greek mythology to English poetry, from fairy tales to modern fiction, these stories are a rich mine of moral literacy, a reliable moral reference point that will help anchor our children and ourselves in our culture, our history, and our traditions -- the sources of the ideals by which we wish to live our lives. Complete with instructive introductions and notes, The Book of Virtues is a book the whole family can read and enjoy -- and learn from -- together.

Book God s Eternal Intention and Satan s Counterplot

Download or read book God s Eternal Intention and Satan s Counterplot written by Witness Lee and published by Living Stream Ministry. This book was released on 1992-06-01 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of God's redeemed and regenerated children are for the most part unaware of His divine intention. It is possible to be very familiar with the Bible yet still miss this central point. God's eternal intention is to enter into us, His redeemed and regenerated children, in order to be our life. He wants to make us one with Him so that we may live Him. In God's Eternal Intention and Satan's Counterplot Witness Lee compares the opening chapters of Genesis with chapters seven and eight of Romans, showing that the two trees in Genesis 2 have become the two laws in Romans. The two trees represent God's eternal intention and Satan's counterplot, and the two laws reveal our subjective experience of these two trees in our daily lives. We all must exercise to live by the tree of life that the law of the Spirit of life can operate to save us from the law of sin and death.

Book The Book of Virtues 30th Anniversary Edition

Download or read book The Book of Virtues 30th Anniversary Edition written by William J. Bennett and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-11-29 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Help your children develop moral character with this updated, 30th anniversary edition of the perennial classic The Book of Virtues. Almost 3 million copies of the Book of Virtues have been sold since it was published in 1993. It is one of the most popular moral primers ever written, an inspiring anthology that helps children understand and develop character—and helps parents teach it to them. Thirty years ago, readers thought that the times were right for a book about moral literacy. Back then, Americans worried that schools were no longer parents’ allies in teaching good character. As the book’s original introduction noted, “moral anchors and moorings have never been more necessary.” If that was true in the 1990s, it is even more true today. The explosion of information with the Internet has left many unsure of what is valuable and what is not. Responsibility. Courage. Compassion. Loyalty. Honesty. Friendship. Persistence. Hard work. Self-discipline. Faith. These remain the essentials of good character. The Book of Virtues contains hundreds of exemplary stories offering children examples of good and bad, right and wrong. Drawing on the Bible, American history, Greek mythology, English poetry, fairy tales, and modern fiction, William J. and Elayne Bennett show children the many virtuous paths they can follow—and the ones they ought to avoid. For the 30th anniversary edition, the Bennetts have slimmed down the book’s contents, while also finding room to introduce such figures as Mother Teresa, Colin Powell, and heroes of 9/11 and the War in Afghanistan. Here is a rich mine of moral literacy to teach a new generation of children about American culture, history, and traditions—ultimately, the ideals by which we wish to live our lives. The updated edition of The Book of Virtues will continue a legacy of raising moral children far into a new century.

Book Diz vliegende b spel

Download or read book Diz vliegende b spel written by Marian E. Polhill and published by V&R Unipress. This book was released on 2020-07-13 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume explores the theme of ambiguity in medieval and early modern literature in essays honoring the life and work of Arthur Groos, Avalon Foundation Professor in the Humanities at Cornell University, USA, emeritus. The famous expression diz vliegende bîspel from Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival is its watchword. In the poem the black and white plumage of the magpie represents the characteristic complexity, ambiguity, and ambivalence of the romance. Removed from its historical context the expression is also a figure of Arthur Groos's wide-ranging intellectual flight. In addition to his work on medieval German verse narrative, he has made important contributions to courtly love poetry, medieval and early modern scientific literature, early modern German literature in general, and especially to opera.
