Book United Kingdom Oil and Gas Fields

Download or read book United Kingdom Oil and Gas Fields written by G. Goffey and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2020-12-03 with total page 1076 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geological Society Memoir 52 records the extraordinary 50+ year journey that has led to the development of some 458 oil and gas fields on the UKCS. It contains papers on almost 150 onshore and offshore fields in all of the UK’s main petroliferous basins. These papers range from look-backs on some of the first-developed gas fields in the Southern North Sea, to papers on fields that have only just been brought into production or may still remain undeveloped, and includes two candidate CO2 sequestration projects. These papers are intended to provide a consistent summary of the exploration, appraisal, development and production history of each field, leading to the current subsurface understanding which is described in greater detail. As such the Memoir will be an enduring reference source for those exploring for, developing, producing hydrocarbons and sequestering CO2 on the UKCS in the coming decades. It encapsulates the petroleum industry’s deep subsurface knowledge accrued over more than 50 years of exploration and production.

Book Oil Field Production Geology

Download or read book Oil Field Production Geology written by Mike Shepherd and published by AAPG. This book was released on 2009-09-20 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book was written for students, new professionals in oil companies, and for anyone with an interest in reservoir geology. It explains the background to production geology in the context of oil field subsurface operations. It also gives practical guidelines as to how a production geologist can analyze the reservoir geology and fluid flow characteristics of an oil field with the aim of improving hydrocarbon recovery. Advice is given on how to search for the remaining oil volumes in a producing field, where these pockets are typically found, and then how to plan wells to target these volumes."--Publisher's description.

Book History of the European Oil and Gas Industry

Download or read book History of the European Oil and Gas Industry written by J. Craig and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2018 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The history of the European oil and gas industry reflects local as well as global political events, economic constraints and the personal endeavours of individual petroleum geoscientists as much as it does the development of technologies and the underlying geology of the region. The first commercial oil wells in Europe were drilled in Poland in 1853, Romania in 1857, Germany in 1859 and Italy in 1860. The 23 papers in this volume focus on the history and heritage of the oil and gas industry in the key European oil-producing countries from the earliest onshore drilling to its development into the modern industry that we know today. The contributors chronicle the main events and some of the major players that shaped the industry in Europe. The volume also marks several important anniversaries, including 150 years of oil exploration in Poland and Romania, the centenary of the drilling of the first oil well in the UK and 50 years of oil production from onshore Spain.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Oil Finding: An Introduction to the Geological Study of Petroleum "Oil-Finding" has been so kindly received that the author makes no apology for attempting to bring it up to date. In the last few years so much new evidence has been collected, and so much further experience in different oilfields acquired that it is possible to deal with many of the questions relating to petroleum with much greater confidence. Chemical research hand in hand with geological, a combination that has not been so frequent as might be wished, has thrown light upon points hitherto somewhat obscure, and promises to give even more important results in the future. Several new books upon the subjects of petroleum, petroleum geology, and the development of oil and gas-fields have been published both in Britain and America; our knowledge of the laws governing the formation and concentration of petroleum has been greatly increased, and, perhaps inevitably, a certain amount of turgid unscientific nonsense has been added to the literature of the subject. Yet, to the author's regret, the vital question of the origin of petroleum has been as heretofore discreetly temporized with, if not, in vulgar parlance, "funked." No one has seen fit to champion the cause of the animal-origin theory and seriously bring forward evidence for its defence. For that theory is now definitely on its defence, the rival vegetable-origin theory having decidedly gained ground especially among the younger generation of practical geologists and those who are intimately associated with the winning of the precious fluid. Book United Kingdom Oil and Gas Fields

Download or read book United Kingdom Oil and Gas Fields written by Jon G. Gluyas and published by Geological Society Publishing House. This book was released on 2003 with total page 1006 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Memoir 20 is the most comprehensive reference work on the UK's oil and gas fields available. It updates and substantially extends Memoir 14 (1991), United Kingdom Oil and Gas Fields, 25 Years Commemorative Volume, one of the Geological Society's best-selling books. This new edition contains updates on many of the ageing giant fields, as well as entries for fields either undiscovered or undeveloped when Memoir 14 was published. The book is divided into nine parts covering the major petroleum provinces both offshore and onshore United Kingdom, from the Gas Basin in the southern North Sea to the Viking Graben in the northern North Sea, from the Atlantic Frontier to the Irish Sea and from the Wessex Basin to the East Midlands. Each part contains a reference map showing field locations. The introductory chapters reveal the stories behind the major plays and discoveries therein, and their tectonic and stratigraphic framework. There are two appendices: tabulated field data and a comprehensive list for all of the UK's 300+ oil and gas fields.

This field was discovered in 1990 by British Petroleum (well# 204/24-1A) in the Faeroe-Shetland Basin in two blocks, 204/19 and 204/24a in the UK Continental Shelf. These blocks are located around 190km west of the Shetland Islands. Marine environment can be characterized as deep water conditions (450 m) and strong subsea currents (4.5 km/hr). First hydrocarbons from the Foinaven play were produced in Nov.1997. The recoverable reserves were originally calculated at 200 million barrels and lately were estimated at 415 million barrels at 2004.

This change is reflected in this new 4th edition, which has been significantly expanded to accomodate additional material. The centrepiece of the book, however, remains a series of descriptions, in stratigraphic order, of the depositional history and hydrocarbon related rock units of the North Sea.
