Book The Genesis Paradigm

Download or read book The Genesis Paradigm written by Jeffrey Mintz and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is for anyone who is searching and aware that life is a journey and looking for ways to better understand the endless possibilities and challenges involved in that process. The Genesis Paradigm comes from a unique perspective the author has developed where the idea is essentially that we are all capable of living our lives to a far greater potential than we do. However to achieve our potential, we need to develop our inherently creative selves. We need to develop our imaginations to allow ourselves to tap into our higher selves. As our world becomes satiated with material wealth and prosperity, people are searching for more. They are aware on some level of this latent potential. This book is relevant to anyone interested in change. There are many transitions and challenges for people everywhere right now, but none more than the baby boomer generation who are now entering a new phase of their lives. With the changing economy, many are not able to retire as they had planned. There are many who are going through health challenges, divorce, redefining themselves as many begin new careers and hobbies. There is an explosion of technology and the world is changing rapidly as never before. Many people are facing the need to change and adapt. Many are struggling. This is a unique perspective from a professional therapist, and someone who has lived a spiritual life for the past 25 years. There are many ideas contained in this book that are of universal interest to many readers.

Book Genesis 1 as Ancient Cosmology

Download or read book Genesis 1 as Ancient Cosmology written by John H. Walton and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2011-06-23 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ancient Near Eastern mode of thought is not at all intuitive to us moderns, but our understanding of ancient perspectives can only approach accuracy when we begin to penetrate ancient texts on their own terms rather than imposing our own world view. In this task, we are aided by the ever-growing corpus of literature that is being recovered and analyzed. After an introduction that presents some of the history of comparative studies and how it has been applied to the study of ancient texts in general and cosmology in particular, Walton focuses in the first half of this book on the ancient Near Eastern texts that inform our understanding about ancient ways of thinking about cosmology. Of primary interest are the texts that can help us discern the parameters of ancient perspectives on cosmic ontology—that is, how the writers perceived origins. Texts from across the ancient Near East are presented, including primarily Egyptian, Sumerian, and Akkadian texts, but occasionally also Ugaritic and Hittite, as appropriate. Walton’s intention, first of all, is to understand the texts but also to demonstrate that a functional ontology pervaded the cognitive environment of the ancient Near East. This functional ontology involves more than just the idea that ordering the cosmos was the focus of the cosmological texts. He posits that, in the ancient world, bringing about order and functionality was the very essence of creative activity. He also pays close attention to the ancient ideology of temples to show the close connection between temples and the functioning cosmos. The second half of the book is devoted to a fresh analysis of Genesis 1:1–2:4. Walton offers studies of significant Hebrew terms and seeks to show that the Israelite texts evidence a functional ontology and a cosmology that is constructed with temple ideology in mind, as in the rest of the ancient Near East. He contends that Genesis 1 never was an account of material origins but that, as in the rest of the ancient world, the focus of “creation texts” was to order the cosmos by initiating functions for the components of the cosmos. He further contends that the cosmology of Genesis 1 is founded on the premise that the cosmos should be understood in temple terms. All of this is intended to demonstrate that, when we read Genesis 1 as the ancient document it is, rather than trying to read it in light of our own world view, the text comes to life in ways that help recover the energy it had in its original context. At the same time, it provides a new perspective on Genesis 1 in relation to what have long been controversial issues. Far from being a borrowed text, Genesis 1 offers a unique theology, even while it speaks from the platform of its contemporaneous cognitive environment.

Book The Genesis gap Theory

Download or read book The Genesis gap Theory written by Michael W. J. Phelan and published by . This book was released on 2005-01 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interpretation of Genesis 1:1-2 has taxed the minds of exegetes for many years. The controversy has centred upon whether or not there is a chronological gap of unspecified duration within the compass of what, at first glance, seems to be continuous narrative. This proposed gap is the basis of what might be termed theories-of-accommodation. By some the proposed gap is used to accommodate the alleged vast ages of cosmic, geological, and biological evolution, and has certain similarities with the theory that views the days of Genesis 1, not as literal days representing but one complete rotation of the earth upon its axis, but as entire epochs, during which the earth was subject to profound, but extremely slow evolutionary change. This is a view frequently advocated by so-called Theistic-Evolutionists, who seek to harmonise Scripture with human wisdom in the form of evolutionary dogma. The facts are that; [1) the six days of Genesis 1 are each defined as comprising but one 'evening and morning' (verses 5, 8, 13, 19, 23, and 31), ] [2) Exodus 20:11 and 31:17 state that the basis of the seven-day week which regulates our calendar still, is the hexameron, or six days of creation followed by the Sabbath rest, ] [3) death did not exist before Adam, and came through Adam (Romans 5:12), ruling out the possibility of millions of years of plant and animal deaths before man, and, ] [4) the concept of the history of the events of Genesis 1, being greater in duration than all the rest of Scripture history taken together, and of it outlasting it by a truly prodigious amount which the adoption of an evolutionary time-scale would demand, is absolutely contrary to the conceptual basis of the Word-of-God.] The desire to accommodate entire epochs such as are suggested by evolutionists within a chronological gap to be located within Genesis 1:1-2 then should not be a serious consideration for sincere students of the Word. But the proposed gap is used also to accommodate the Luciferic Rebellion and Fall. It is taught by believers in this view that the original creation was marred, if not ruined altogether by this rebellion, or by a Divine Judgement which fell upon the earth as a consequence of it, and that the hexameron details the actions of God in restoring the, by then, ruined earth. Finally, there are those who see such a gap accommodating both evolutionary epochs and the Luciferic Rebellion. What the sincere student of God's Word needs to know is; whether or not there is any real basis in the Scriptures themselves for the existence of such a gap, or whether the proposal is based only upon human speculation.

Book The Genesis Enigma

    Book Details:
  • Author : Andrew Parker
  • Publisher : Penguin
  • Release : 2009-10-08
  • ISBN : 1101148705
  • Pages : 254 pages

Download or read book The Genesis Enigma written by Andrew Parker and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2009-10-08 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An acclaimed, paradigm-shifting evolutionary biologist shows how the biblical story of Genesis uncannily reflects recent scientific discoveries-and finds room for divine inspiration within. Consider this: Genesis recounts the story of creation, step-by-step: "Let there be light"; "Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear"; "Let the earth bring forth [vegetation]"; "Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life"; "God created the whales"; "And God created . . . every winged fowl." For thousands of years, Judeo-Christian belief has accepted this progression as truth. And now, thanks to recent scientific discoveries, the scientific community does, too (though without the mention of "God"). In The Genesis Enigma, respected evolutionary biologist Andrew Parker explains each parallel between Genesis and science in detail-and the closer he looks, the more amazing the parallels become. But the Genesis account has no right to be correct. The author or authors could not have known these things happened in this order, and with the highlights science has come to recognize. Ultimately, Parker argues, it must be divine inspiration that guided the writing of the Bible. This startling conclusion will make The Genesis Enigma a must-read for believers and scientists alike.

Book Genesis Decoded Esoteric Interpretations from the First Book of the Bible

Download or read book Genesis Decoded Esoteric Interpretations from the First Book of the Bible written by Paradigm X and published by Paradigm X. This book was released on with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Genesis Decoded: Esoteric Interpretations from the First Book of the Bible takes you on a transformative journey through the foundational text of Genesis, unveiling deep spiritual meanings and hidden truths within its verses. Each chapter of this book provides an esoteric interpretation of the key stories and figures in Genesis, offering a fresh perspective on the ancient narrative and its relevance to modern spiritual seekers. The Creation and Fall (Genesis 1-3) In this chapter, the creation of the world and humanity is explored through an esoteric lens. The narrative of the Fall is decoded to reveal profound insights into the duality of human nature, the struggle between spiritual aspiration and material desire, and the implications of humanity’s first act of disobedience. The First Families and Early Humanity (Genesis 4-5) The stories of Cain, Abel, and Seth offer lessons on the consequences of sin, the potential for redemption, and the continuing divine plan. The mystifying figure of Enoch, who walked with God, is also interpreted as a symbol of spiritual ascension and inner transformation. The Great Flood (Genesis 6-9) This chapter delves into the story of Noah, the ark, and the great flood, revealing themes of divine justice, human wickedness, and renewal. The covenant with Noah is examined as a representation of the enduring relationship between humanity and the divine, and the flood itself is viewed as a symbol of purification and spiritual rebirth. The Nations and the Tower of Babel (Genesis 10-11) The genealogy of Noah’s descendants and the story of the Tower of Babel are explored to uncover deeper meanings about human ambition, the unity and division of nations, and the consequences of attempting to reach the divine through ego-driven efforts. The scattering of languages is interpreted as a metaphor for the fragmentation of spiritual understanding. The Call of Abraham (Genesis 12-15) In this chapter, the focus shifts to the patriarch Abraham, his call by God, and the establishment of the divine covenant. The promises made to Abraham are explored for their esoteric significance, representing the spiritual journey of faith, trust, and the unfolding of divine purpose in one’s life. The Patriarchs: Isaac and Jacob (Genesis 16-28) The births of Isaac and Jacob, along with their pivotal roles in the continuation of God’s covenant, are examined. Esoteric interpretations of key events, such as Abraham’s test of faith and Jacob’s dream at Bethel, provide insights into the trials, blessings, and divine encounters that shape the spiritual path. Jacob’s Family and Journey (Genesis 29-36) Jacob’s marriages, the birth of his children, and his return to Canaan are analyzed for their deeper spiritual meanings. Jacob’s wrestling with God and the renewal of the covenant are highlighted as transformative experiences that reflect the inner struggles and ultimate triumphs on the path to spiritual enlightenment. Joseph’s Rise to Power (Genesis 37-41) Joseph’s journey from betrayal by his brothers to his rise in Egypt is interpreted as a powerful narrative of resilience, divine providence, and the realization of destiny. His ability to interpret dreams is seen as a symbol of spiritual insight and connection to the divine will. The Reconciliation and Settlement in Egypt (Genesis 42-50) The final chapter examines Joseph’s reunion with his family, the blessings of Jacob, and the settlement in Egypt. Themes of forgiveness, reconciliation, and the fulfillment of God’s plan are explored, offering readers a profound understanding of the cyclical nature of spiritual growth and the enduring legacy of faith. Genesis Decoded is an invitation to explore the depths of spiritual wisdom and apply these ancient teachings to one’s own journey through life.

Book Neither Darwin Nor Genesis

Download or read book Neither Darwin Nor Genesis written by David Moyle Msc D and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006-08 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over 150 years, a war of words has been fought between science and religion over which theory best describes life as we know it-Darwin's theory or the story as presented in the Christian Bible. In a bold new approach, Neither Darwin Nor Genesis clearly outlines the major flaws in both arguments and offers a whole new view of life, creation, and evolution based on fundamentals of metaphysical science which looks beyond the physical, visible realms to uncover the invisible but intelligent forces which govern all things in form. This New Paradigm of life comes as school leaders and our nation's courts are being besieged by the proponents of two old schools of thought try to establish their world view into the minds of our children. In one swoop, Neither Darwin Nor Genesis shows clearly why neither of those theories hold water, and now offers one that does. As we move into new millennia with a world dangerously out of balance, the New Paradigm offers a worldview that has been known to aboriginal cultures for eons and concurrently is being accepted by quantum physicists and New Thought spiritualists.

Book The Genesis of Technoscientific Revolutions

Download or read book The Genesis of Technoscientific Revolutions written by Venkatesh Narayanamurti and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research powers innovation and technoscientific advance, but it is due for a rethink, one consistent with its deeply holistic nature, requiring deeply human nurturing. Research is a deeply human endeavor that must be nurtured to achieve its full potential. As with tending a garden, care must be taken to organize, plant, feed, and weedÑand the manner in which this nurturing is done must be consistent with the nature of what is being nurtured. In The Genesis of Technoscientific Revolutions, Venkatesh Narayanamurti and Jeffrey Tsao propose a new and holistic system, a rethinking of the nature and nurturing of research. They share lessons from their vast research experience in the physical sciences and engineering, as well as from perspectives drawn from the history and philosophy of science and technology, research policy and management, and the evolutionary biological, complexity, physical, and economic sciences. Narayanamurti and Tsao argue that research is a recursive, reciprocal process at many levels: between science and technology; between questions and answer finding; and between the consolidation and challenging of conventional wisdom. These fundamental aspects of the nature of research should be reflected in how it is nurtured. To that end, Narayanamurti and Tsao propose aligning organization, funding, and governance with research; embracing a culture of holistic technoscientific exploration; and instructing people with care and accountability.

Book Faith Reason Earth History

Download or read book Faith Reason Earth History written by Leonard Brand and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Faith, Reason, and Earth History presents Leonard Brand¿s argument for constructive thinking about origins and earth history in the context of Scripture, showing readers how to analyze available scientific data and approach unsolved problems. Faith does not need to fear the data, but can contribute to progress in understanding earth history within the context of God¿s Word while still being honest about unanswered questions. In this patient explanation of the mission of science, the author models his conviction that ¿above all, it is essential that we treat each other with respect, even if we disagree on fundamental issues.¿ The original edition of this work (1997) was one of the first books on this topic written from the point of view of an experienced research scientist. A career biologist, paleontologist, and teacher, Brand brings to this well-illustrated book a rich assortment of practical scientific examples. This thoughtful and rigorous presentation makes Brand¿s landmark work highly useful both as a college-level text and as an easily accessible treatment for the educated lay person.

Book Creation and Cosmos The Literal Values of Genesis

Download or read book Creation and Cosmos The Literal Values of Genesis written by Garrison Clifford Gibson and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-11-27 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many questions that intelligent people have about the Bible, science and evolution theory. Finding intelligent answers is difficult. The problem is that specialization is required in the sciences, in philosophy and theology, so people tend to pick one and disregard the others. There aren't so many people that consider all three fields with much depth of understanding. I made a try at that and wrote a book that is free to download. It is not only difficult to understand all three fields, it is difficult to select what should be written about, and difficult to write well. I didn't by any means cover everything; there is lots to cover.

Book Genesis and the Big Bang Theory

Download or read book Genesis and the Big Bang Theory written by Gerald Schroeder and published by Bantam. This book was released on 1991-12-01 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A ground-breaking book that takes on skeptics from both sides of the cosmological debate, arguing that science and the Bible are not at odds concerning the origin of the universe. The culmination of a physicist's thirty-five-year journey from MIT to Jerusalem, Genesis and the Big Bang presents a compelling argument that the events of the billions of years that cosmologists say followed the Big Bang and those of the first six days described in Genesis are, in fact, one and the same—identical realities described in vastly different terms. In engaging, accessible language, Dr. Schroeder reconciles the observable facts of science with the very essence of Western religion: the biblical account of Creation. Carefully reviewing and interpreting accepted scientific principles, analogous passages of Scripture, and biblical scholarship, Dr. Schroeder arrives at a conclusion so lucid that one wonders why it has taken this long in coming. The result for the reader—whether believer or skeptic, Jewish or Christian—is a totally fresh understanding of the key events in the life of the universe.

This book was released on 1998-05-06 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today many school students are shielded from one of the most important concepts in modern science: evolution. In engaging and conversational style, Teaching About Evolution and the Nature of Science provides a well-structured framework for understanding and teaching evolution. Written for teachers, parents, and community officials as well as scientists and educators, this book describes how evolution reveals both the great diversity and similarity among the Earth's organisms; it explores how scientists approach the question of evolution; and it illustrates the nature of science as a way of knowing about the natural world. In addition, the book provides answers to frequently asked questions to help readers understand many of the issues and misconceptions about evolution. The book includes sample activities for teaching about evolution and the nature of science. For example, the book includes activities that investigate fossil footprints and population growth that teachers of science can use to introduce principles of evolution. Background information, materials, and step-by-step presentations are provided for each activity. In addition, this volume: Presents the evidence for evolution, including how evolution can be observed today. Explains the nature of science through a variety of examples. Describes how science differs from other human endeavors and why evolution is one of the best avenues for helping students understand this distinction. Answers frequently asked questions about evolution. Teaching About Evolution and the Nature of Science builds on the 1996 National Science Education Standards released by the National Research Councilâ€"and offers detailed guidance on how to evaluate and choose instructional materials that support the standards. Comprehensive and practical, this book brings one of today's educational challenges into focus in a balanced and reasoned discussion.
