Book excerpt: From the New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: Lost Stars and Bloodline comes a thrilling sci-fi adventure that Kass Morgan, bestselling author of The 100 series, calls "startlingly original and achingly romantic...nothing short of masterful." She's a soldier--Noemi Vidal is willing to risk anything to protect her planet, Genesis, including her own life. To their enemies on Earth, she's a rebel. He's a machine--Abandoned in space for years, utterly alone, Abel's advanced programming has begun to evolve. He wants only to protect his creator, and to be free. To the people of Genesis, he's an abomination. Noemi and Abel are enemies in an interstellar war, forced by chance to work together as they embark on a daring journey through the stars. Their efforts would end the fighting for good, but they're not without sacrifice. The stakes are even higher than either of them first realized, and the more time they spend together, the more they're forced to question everything they'd been taught was true. An epic and romantic adventure, perfect for fans of The Lunar Chronicles and Illuminae.

Book The Syriac Legend of Alexanders Gate

Download or read book The Syriac Legend of Alexanders Gate written by Tesei and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-11-03 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Syriac text entitled Neshana d-Aleksandros (also known as Syriac Alexander Legend) is a seminal text for late Christian and Muslim apocalyptic traditions. Containing the earliest recorded versions of literary motifs that would become central to the medieval apocalyptic tradition, it represents an early witness to an influential political ideology that guided both Byzantine and early Islamic imperial policies. While the scholarly consensus commonly dates the Neshana to the time of Heraclius (r. 610-641 CE), in this book author Tommaso Tesei argues that an earlier version of the text was produced during the reign of Justinian I (r. 527-565). This new historical contextualization of the text enables us to better delineate the role of the Neshana in the development of late antique, politicized, forms of apocalypticism, which assign to the Christian Roman Empire the task of establishing a cosmocratic rule in view of Jesus' Second Coming. In analyzing the contents and the ideology of this seminal text, this volume contributes to our understanding of the origins and developments of important literary motifs of Medieval literature worldwide, such as the characterization of Alexander as a pious prophet-king and the story of the gate that he erected to confine the eschatological nations of Gog and Magog. The Syriac Legend of Alexander's Gate sheds light on lesser-known aspects of political debates in the sixth-century Near East and offers historians a valuable insight into important aspects of Justinian's reign.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Breach By: Clayton Kendall - Pastor The Breach discusses the Abrahamic covenant in great detail. This includes topics such as the Judaic Scepter, Joseph’s Birthright, Mosaic Law, Israel and the Jews, and the Davidic covenant. The latter of which is the most misunderstood covenant in the Bible. Stating in particular, that King David was promised a physical king line that would retain an earthly kingdom that would reign supreme until Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, returns to rule the throne. This book documents the fulfillment of this promise and identifies who and where it is today. The identity of Israel and the Jews is a subtheme, for without this knowledge the impetus of the book would be greatly diminished. Finally, all of this material relates to, and answers many questions about, the false rapture theory and the truth about the tribulation of antichrist.
