Download or read book General Similarity Solution of the Tricomi Equations and Its Applications written by Julian D. Cole and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: List of Research Objectives: 1) develop the formalism for the general similarity solution of the Tricomic equation which is the hodograph equation of transonic small-disturbance theory; 2) study higher order approximations in perturbation theory, for transonic flow with the aim of clarifying the ambiguity of the transonic similarity parameter K; and 3) study the nose singularity for a rounded nose airfoil in transonic flow and develop a local approximation based on the exact equations. (KR).

Book Transonic Flow Past a Wedge Profile with Detached Bow Wave

Download or read book Transonic Flow Past a Wedge Profile with Detached Bow Wave written by Walter G. Vincenti and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerical calculations have been made of the characteristics at zero angle of attack of a thin, doubly symmetrical, double-wedge profile for the range of supersonic flight speeds in which the bow wave is detached. No special assumptions are made beyond those implicity in the small-disturbance theory of transonic flow. The following results are given as functions of the transonic similarity parameter: (1) shape and location of bow wave and sonic line, (2) chordwise Mach-number and pressure distribution, and (3) integrated pressure drag. The application of the drag results to an airfoil of specific thickness ratio is illustrated.

Book Handbook of Differential Equations

Download or read book Handbook of Differential Equations written by Daniel Zwillinger and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 808 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Differential Equations, Second Edition is a handy reference to many popular techniques for solving and approximating differential equations, including numerical methods and exact and approximate analytical methods. Topics covered range from transformations and constant coefficient linear equations to Picard iteration, along with conformal mappings and inverse scattering. Comprised of 192 chapters, this book begins with an introduction to transformations as well as general ideas about differential equations and how they are solved, together with the techniques needed to determine if a partial differential equation is well-posed or what the "natural" boundary conditions are. Subsequent sections focus on exact and approximate analytical solution techniques for differential equations, along with numerical methods for ordinary and partial differential equations. This monograph is intended for students taking courses in differential equations at either the undergraduate or graduate level, and should also be useful for practicing engineers or scientists who solve differential equations on an occasional basis.

Book Approximation Optimization and Computing

Download or read book Approximation Optimization and Computing written by Alan Greenwell Law and published by North Holland. This book was released on 1990 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume consists of 101 papers in the areas of approximation, optimization and computing, and applications. Under the sponsorship of IMACS (The International Association for Mathematics and Computers in Simulation), it represents a collaborative venture, initiated in 1986, between the Dalian University of Technology and the University of Regina. A primary goal of the project was to encourage research papers reflecting emerging directions within theory and applications. Covered are the following: analytic or discrete approximations, optimization applications, deterministic or stochastic processes, programming, and applications of theory or techniques in engineering or other sciences.

Book A Summary of Meteorological Conditions Associated with Aircraft Icing and a Proposed Method of Selecting Design Criterions for Ice protection Equipment

Download or read book A Summary of Meteorological Conditions Associated with Aircraft Icing and a Proposed Method of Selecting Design Criterions for Ice protection Equipment written by Paul T. Hacker and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data on the meteorological parameters pertinent to the aircraft icing problem are so summarized as to give the frequency of occurrence of observed icing situations according to two of the parameters. The summarized data indicate that statistical relations exist between some of the parameters. A method, based upon the collection efficiency of an airfoil and the frequency occurrence of icing situations with various liquid-water contents and mean-effective droplet sizes, is proposed for the selection of design criterions for ice-protection equipment. The method provides a convenient means of calculating the percenteage of icing encounters in which the water collection exceeds the design rate.

Book An Exact Solution to the Transonic Equation

Download or read book An Exact Solution to the Transonic Equation written by Oscar Biblarz and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The small disturbance equation of transonic flow is solved by a separation of variables technique. The resulting ordinary, nonlinear differential equations are studied in the phase plane where the general solution represents the behavior of the perturbation velocities. In the phase plane, the character of transonic flow is evident. An asymptotic explicit solution is given which encompasses the sonic flow solution. Numerical integration results for the implicit equations are presented and two flows are examined which are intrinsic to the form of the solution.
