Book The Gatekeeper Model of Innovation

Download or read book The Gatekeeper Model of Innovation written by Robert Hinsch and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2009 in the subject Business economics - General, grade: 1.0, University of Bremen, language: English, abstract: Economic growth and technological changes are often triggered by innovative entrepreneurs who discover, exploit, and explore undetected opportunities. However, before entrepreneurs can move forward they need capital in order to realize their business idea. In general, investors can be characterized as the gatekeepers who provide this financial bottleneck resource to entrepreneurs. Venture capital firms, in particular, are a highly specialized group of investors which may also act as facilitators for innovations. Given that entrepreneurs and venture capitalists have been mostly studied in isolated cases, no integrative framework has yet been developed. Thus, this study aims to unfold the interconnectedness and dependencies of both parties and derives inter alia two important variables, namely strategic orientation and trust, which have been poorly studied in this field, but are crucial for the long‐term success of the relationship. The structure of this study corresponds with the process which is characteristic for the relationship between the venture capitalist and the entrepreneur: - The innovation process - The strategy dimension - The trust perspective This study uses an adapted gatekeeper‐model by Csikszentmihalyi to reveal the different stages of the innovation process and to build a theoretical framework of the relationship between both parties. Through the complexity and the interconnection of all the different aspects it is designed as a "door opener" to a rich field of further research as well as it is aimed at helping practitioners understand the innovation process within a complex and dynamic environment.

Book The Business Model Innovation Process

Download or read book The Business Model Innovation Process written by Yariv Taran and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-11-21 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Business Model Innovation Process: Preparation, Organization and Management examines a range of critical questions that merit thoughtful interdisciplinary consideration, such as: Why do business models, and their innovation in particular, matter today? How can the process of business model innovation be understood, organized and managed adequately under increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous technological, business and geo-political conditions? What should decision-making and risk-management look like under these conditions, with managers whose rationality is bounded? The book offers a detailed account of the relatively unknown process of business model innovation by looking into the intersection of strategic, operations and innovation management, organizational design, decision-making and performance management. In doing so, this book addresses fundamental issues, and introduces new ideas and theoretical perspectives. In envisioning and thinking about various potential scenarios of business model innovation and understanding how to organize for each of these under different conditions, the book provides original arguments and suggestions for practitioners. For that purpose, the book also offers many compelling real-life examples of business models and their innovation. Combining theory and practice, this book is an essential read for researchers and academics of business model innovation, as well as strategic management, digital transformation, innovation management and organizational change. It will also be of direct interest to practitioners and business leaders seeking new perspectives to increase their competitive advantage.

Book Innovations in Communication Theories

Download or read book Innovations in Communication Theories written by Yanru Chen and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-01 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a novel approach to innovations in theories of communication and social development. It proposes that "the man is the message". It argues that communication is woven into the fabric of people’s daily lives, and a scholar with a keen eye, an open heart and an inquiring mind should be able to capture the ubiquitous phenomena of communication and turn them into theoretical observations and even innovations. Although most of the propositions in this book cannot be tested empirically, at least for now, owing to the limitations inherent in current research methods, they complement the empirical studies of communication based on measurement. With due understanding that Western social sciences, including communication studies, focus on analytical thinking and the fine division of disciplines, this book takes a more synthetic approach to analyzing communication, often integrating and contextualizing its various factors and channels and categories in analysis and writing. Providing a holistic picture of communication that features the crux of the matter—how to reach and capture the heart and soul of people without any attempt to manipulate their minds, it is more humanistic than many other books on communication studies. Although much of the thinking in the book is seemingly Chinese, it nevertheless has a universal appeal.
